I'm sorry you feel that way towards God word. I'm so thankful I can trust every word of my Bible.

Again, that is the debate. Do we have the word of truth or don't we?
Your sorry the English language is flawed?

You should not trust every word in YOUR bible.. Because many of the WORDS in your bible are not complete. There is much missing.

God gave me his word. If I have a question about an English word, or what he means, I can always go to the original language and see what God meant to say.

You want to rely an a flawed English text. Feel free..

But stop judging people who want a more fuller understanding of what God said

So poor man has nothing certain to rely on...
you can be certain of some things

1 TIMOTHY 1:15 The saying is trustworthy
and deserving of full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

but a perfect complete copy of God's word in English, no.

Its amazing. Paul told timothy that as a baby, he had enough knowledge to be saved.

Yet, I believe not one word of the NT was written yet. and the KJV was 1600 years from being written

King Jimmy only reeks of ignorance and is not a debate, but rather a good tool of the devil to cause many to stumble........I see a beat to death horse in the proverbial ditch!

It grieves me a little that this question has turned into 34 pages of discussion.

Or, if you had the word of truth, then the Holy Spirit could guide you to the understanding of all truth instead of telling you which parts of the Bible are false and which ones are true.
Getting a little snippy are we?

Which is more reliable man or God? If you depend on the KJV apart from the Holy Spirit you are in danger. The Holy Spirit is able to use even a paraphrased version of the bible to bring souls to Christ.

Often its not a matter of what is true or not but what the truth is telling you that creates the problem.

I'm not against the KJV only the closed heart that will not allow any other version to be used of God.

this version gives even more information

JOHN 3:13 No one has ascended into heaven, but he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven, where God the Father is. (RTEV)
LOL and you guys think it doesn't matter which version you read.

You can always go to the original language and see what God meant to say? First, which set of manuscripts would you go to? And second, out of the five definitions to choose from, who gives you the authority to choose the right one? That makes you the final authority on what God has said. Are you more of an expert than the 54 biblical scholars who translated the KJV?

Pretty much, yes.

It is God and His Spirit that will lead a person to the truth, even if they are reading a (gasp) flawed translation....

or, put another way, ANY translation. God's pure words are not confined to one translation of the old manuscripts...

And, there have been no edicts, or stone tablets left laying around that tell us that the KJV is the ONLY one that is good to use...

I guess we all have a different idea of what truth is also.

dude, Give it up. I said I can go to the greek to find out what a work or sentence means.

The English language is not a language which can completely interpret the gree. The greek has far to many nuances and tenses which can not be properly stated in the English.

It would not matter what Greek text I went to. All I need is to look up the WORD or PHRASE in the greek I was interested in.

54 bible scholars? What about the hundreds of bible scholars who were around before them, and after them? Your going to base your whole eternity and Christian life on these MEN?

I suggest you stop being a man follower. and start being a God follower.

It is not as hard as it looks like.

Set of manuscripts
- yes, it will take some time for you to decide which one you want to use, but you dont need to be afraid, the differences between them are only 1% and nothing from this 1% changes any doctrine (everything is said also on some different place that is certain, so you will loose nothing even if you will choose the worst one)

What definition to choose from
- this applies to translations, they must choose
- if you just read NT for yourself, you do not have to choose "the right one" definition, you can comprehend multiple at once

Expertise
- even though you must be an expert to translate from ancient language to another one, you dont have to be when you read only for yourself, it is much easier when you dont have to express your thoughts from one language to another
- you have your lifetime to grow up and getting better
- if you dont understand something, you can alway use a translation as you can now

apparently... I believe the truth is in the word, and will be shown to us no matter the translation.

You apparently believe the truth stopped being the truth after 1611.....

No problem for me, brother... I still love you guys.... I just have different "hangups" than you. You'd probably shake your head at some of mine, as well.

It's hard to debate when we can't even agree on what truth is.
that's why people debate, they disagree on things (their version of what truth is.

It is also hard to debate when people are dead set they are right, and no one will change their mind..
