Since I often to to Dollar General and Dollar Tree.......had to read all of this myself.
Mostly agree.......with one exception, well, a partial exception. The Report says not to buy FOOD there, but, in my opinion, that should only apply to fresh food stuffs, or meats that are not frozen.
The Dollar General I go to has many of the same Brand Names as does Walmart on can foods, and on snacks 'n' such.
One hint........if folks have a Dollar Tree nearby...........(I don't buy fresh foods/meats there) is that the Dollar Tree has frozen meats/veggies. The frozen Veggies are pretty good, and they are not full of cut up stalks.......
They have two meats that I always buy. Individually packaged Pork Sirloin Cuts and Thin Cut Rib Eye Steaks. Each is just one dollar. The Chops are very good, and I purchase 4 or 5 at a time to put in my freezer. The Rib Eyes are perfect for making Steak Sandwiches.........thin cut, and tender.
I use Lemon Pepper on the Chops, with a little butter, when I cook them......can make a sandwich, or have them with Veggies as a dinner.
The Rib Eye I cook over medium heat with Black Pepper and some Wishyoursisterwashere Sauce. I get those Hoagie buns from the Store........add some Mayo 'n' Mustard, slice of Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato slices......and Mmmmmmm
Anyway............I would not recommend buying fresh/not frozen foods/meats at a Dollar Store, but these two are surely an exception that I enjoy very much. I can purchase seven days worth of meat for dinners for just SEVEN BUCKS.
