I bought a pair of Naturalizer wedge shoes once... they looked extremely comfortable, burgundy suede, almost like a hush puppy but with a bit of a heel, maybe two inches at most. After three days of wear I was almost lame for over half a year. Seriously. My right heel would be wooden every morning, I would have to warm it up, and gingerly move it around before I could walk on it properly, (I think it was the heel ligaments?) so- never again 
I wore sandals or boots for a long time but like a nice shoe every now and again for something a little dressier on occasion. Now I mostly wear good runners. My last pair started pronating so badly after a few years LOL I finally bit the bullet and bought a wonderfully designed Swiss pair. Here's a nice looking boot
