There may be no good answer to this hypothetical question.

If God said to you: "Would you be willing to spend eternity in hell so that this person here can spend eternity in heaven with me?", what would you say?

What if the person was your unsaved spouse?

What if, instead of you going to heaven, 1000 people could be saved and get to heaven, and you would go to hell.

Would you be willing to make that kind of sacrifice?

I don't think I would.

My reasoning is that I believe God would want me to want to be with him more than any other thing ever. I think God would be offended if I chose the salvation of even 1000 people over my own.

What do you all think?

lol now that is a good hypothetical question :)

Din't Paul talk of a similar thing if it where possible? Now as far as Myself..MMmmm I really don't know.. but then again, I probabbly would for my kids. its very hard to say unless you were to be in that position.

I think that's just too scarey a question to answer honestly. You may say yeah I'd do it for someone I loved, but we're talking hell forever here.
 
I'm going to be one hundred percent honest here and say no. My whole meaning of life right now is that I get to serve my God and spend eternity with Him. I don't think there is anything that would make me want to give that up.

Its a scary thought indeed. it's hard to even imagine being put in that position.

I think the real question that some of us may face one day is, are you willing to die for one person to get saved?

I remember going to Mexico two weeks ago for Missions when everyone told me it was too dangerous and I could get killed. I am really glad I didn't listen to them because around 70 people got saved. We went to the worst part of town in Tijuana in the middle of the Red Light District and saw God do amazing things!

If we could imagine the scene of the great white throne judgment that will take place in eternity future and look upon that throne as every unsaved person presents themself to Jesus Christ as the judge. We would see those that we have known, including some of our loved ones, going to be judged and be a part of the second death, which is the lake of fire. As we watched them one by one, in our heart we would want to exchange our lives for them and perhaps even cry out and say Lord, 'don't send them take me instead'. But God would not be able to answer that request because His justice is perfect and they rejected the blood of the Lamb and it will be as God has said and there will be no mercy at that judgment seat on that day and they will be cast into the lake which burneth with fire and brimestone (Rev 21:8).

And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 18Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."


In each of these passages, Christ is shown as an example of "A greater love". Personal sacrifice is asked in 1 John 3:16, but the full context shows a sacrifice of a material nature. In John 10, the hired hand is shown as the one who runs from the wolf. Again demonstrating an unwillingness to sacrifice self for the sake of others.

I am thankful that God would not put that sort of demand on us.

I think a better question would be; What are you willing to sacrifice to see another come to Christ?

Now if we were talking my physical life, then sure, for my death is gain. I would lay down my mortal life to see someone saved from hell, although this is much more easily said than done, but I just don't see giving up my eternal salvation. I am in a very loving relationship with the Lord, and I treasure that love and that connection more than anything in the world. I love my fellow man and I hope that everyone I know will be with me in paradise, but honestly, that is my goal for this life, to love my God, to love my fellow man, and to make it to paradise and continue that loving relationship for all of eternity. It's such a tough question.

in the BIBLE,it was stated that the whole family saved because of only one member who believe to ALMIGHTY GOD,a believer who married unbeliever,both will be saved for the believer's sake,SALVATION can not be pass to others.GOD offers salvation to anyone.up to the person if he/she will accept. we who believe GOD is chosen by HIM.we did not choose HIM but PRAISE GOD for choosing us to be called HIS CHILDREN!

I dont know how Moses could have felt this way about the Israelites who sinned so greatly after seeing the works of God. I would have said otherwise and told God to get rid of them all. But God loved Moses for taking such a stand. God saw that Moses loved the people like how He loved them and many years later Christ showed His love for us by giving up His life for us. I dont think i could give up the God i cant wait to see face to face for anyone.....maybe for my child while she is young, but not for an adult who has chosen there own path in life. I still wish i had a heart like Moses and Christ but to give up God is like giving up the breath in my body, i would prefer never to have been born.

I once prayed for that to be possible, but I am quite sure it would be very different if I was actually standing in front of God being asked the question...
imagine seeing His face and then knowing one wouldn't see it again ever.... I don't think anyone could survive that
 
That would take the love of God for that one. Otherwise, even if you did loose your salvation for another, it would not gain them anything.

I have know some that I would give up even my relationship with God to see them have His love in their life. but I found that nothing but God's grace can change a heart that is not awake to Him.
 
I think of it like this*:

I'd spend a good portion of my life living - being devoted -for God/Christ. Having my faith and beliefs tested and faced with countless temptations. Now this Christian walk is challenging (although at the same time pretty simple) enough without adding to it.

If I received eternal life, I wouldn't pass it up for someone whom lived for themselves. Other "religions" may be fleeting but there is no place in the world that hasn't seen a glimpse of Christianity. Everyday, people have chances for salvation, so if they pass it up everyday, then they fairly received their portion. So for me to "reject" Heaven for someone whom denied God/Christ everyday?

I'd probably feel remorseful after saying no for like 30 seconds, then I'd be living in paradise.

My youngest son's friend Logan, age 10, had invited my son to his church and mid-week Kidz Meeting on several occasions, which my son gladly accepted each time. I could never get Nicholas interested in going to church with me so I was quite happy he was going with his best bud.

Last Wednesday, Logan was on his way over to our house to invite Nicholas to join him and his church group on some sort of mission. I'm not sure of the details.

On his way over...Logan was hit by a pickup truck.

He died the following Monday...April 5th...

Logan died doing the Lord's work.
His hope was that his friend, my son....would know Jesus.

Rest in Peace Logan...you dear sweet boy.
