Today at work a guy called to speak with one of the women I work with. She was on lunch. I told him I would give her the message. She gets off lunch at 2:30. I didn't give her the message till almost 3:30 because I got distracted by my phone, reading my Bible and customers. So I finally gave her the message but failed to tell her why it took me so long because I knew I would get in trouble for being on my phone. Is it lying to not tell the whole truth? She didn't ask why.
 
I would say that the whole situation worked out well. She didn't ask and you didn't tell. No lie told. No harm done. You might want to avoid talking on your phone during working hours though.

You should see it when I take messages for others and forget about it for 3 days.

While you're at work you really do need to be working, unless you have a lot of down-time with nothing to do.

If you're taking care of business, and getting your job done... then a little mistake is just a little mistake.

If you're messing around on your phone instead of working... then you need to fix that.

I'm a little different, as far as conscience goes, so yes I would have to confess that
I had messed up and ask for forgiveness. nothing personal to anyone...

Focus on the fact that you're better today for the microscopic error you made the other day. Remember, we're all a work in progress. If people want perfection only then they need to shut out the entire world and talk only with Jesus.
 
You gave the collegue the message I don't see what the problem is. Did you say I will tell her as soon as I see her. The bigger issue is should you be using your phone or reading your Bible while at work.

Colossians 3: [SUP]23 [/SUP]Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, [SUP]24 [/SUP]since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

While at work you are paid to do your job, not be on your phone or reading the Bible.

Acr, this is about the 3rd or 4th thread that you have made, giving us scenarios where you either lied or stole, and asked us if it's a sin. Clearly you know it's a sin to lie and it's a sin to steal. In this scenario here, you simply forgot to give her the message. You don't need to tell her why.

Are you sure you're not Poehlerfan??

Leave your phone at home then if you know you can't resist the temptation to use phone when not suppose to. Not telling the whole truth is discretion\; lying by omission is failing to tell the whole truth when required.

We needed new doors, and finally had the money to get them. The contractor promised to install the fourth week of November. (aka Thanksgiving week.) I was surprised when he really did make that happen.

Part of the deal was he'd have Gary call to paint the doors once installed. That wouldn't happen until after the Thanksgiving weekend though. Meanwhile, I noticed something important -- no mail slot.

We live in a rowhome with no front yard -- just steps to the common sidewalk. To me, a good day is a day I stay in my jammies. No mail slot and I'd have to get dressed every day to pick up the mail outside our door. (Worse yet. I didn't notice until that Saturday, and we had a big storm with heavy winds, so I have no idea if we got no mail that day or the wind swept it away. :o) So, that Monday, I called to tell the problem, and the contractor was embarrassed, but not angry with me.

Last week, a guy came over and made a mail slot for us. (Nice! Brass slot! oooo!)

And Gary called last Friday quite upset. It seems Mrs. Gary took the message, but the message fell on the floor and then under the desk. She didn't see it for three days. Gary didn't see it for two more days.

I told Gary he could have gotten away with it, since I assumed he was calling after the mail slot was added. lol
 
hopefully you'll get un-hooked on how you look in 'jammies' to others, cause, most
don't know the difference between jammies and sweats or just comfortable clothes...
I've completely gotten over what 'they-think' I have on!...Yes, it has taken me a while,
but, boy is it liberating to be able to go 'anywhere' in what feels comfortable to me...:eek:

by the way, hubby has 'never cared', always been his own man, he has taught me so many
wonderful and liberating things over the years...even before our conversion...
since Jesus hooked us up, the surprises and blessings just never stop...

My jammies are night gowns. It's noticeable. lol (I can't wear sweats anymore, but I did use them as jammies and had no problems going outside in them.)
