Just going through all of that poetry trying to follow the plot and also interpret what he's saying would be hell for me. Reminds me of a semester of Chaucer. It's like if an author wants to tell a story, then just write a story, don't complicate it with poetry. I don't mind thinking a little bit, but not that hard just for fiction. :D

Stave One is 26 pages in my edition. If every one can get a copy, maybe everyone who is interested can read Stave One by next Thursday? Dec. 22? Then we could post on that day whatever our thoughts/impressions are?

That might have been what I heard on the radio. :) It was around 30 years ago. (I mean maybe they played that recording)
 
A book club sounds really cool. I joined one recently (last month) in goodreads. It's a history book club and I'm supposed to read a book with them every month. This month's book is the history of democracy in the USA. But, alas, I'm reading a database book for school so I can't join. It kinda sucks, I really really wanna join. They discuss what they read about at the end of the month (I think). It would really be great to have something like that here.

I went on Goodreads, but it feels unwieldy to me as a forum. It's not very user friendly. I would offer to read a database with you, but I would have no idea what I would be reading. I'll post a thread next Thursday so whoever likes can talk about the first stave of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It's an easy read if you've never read it before. I'd like you to join if it sounds like a plan. I joined a club at Goodreads to read The Age of Innocence in January. I'm looking forward to it.

Lol, we could have an all girls club and read Christian romance books. But if Off and Zero are interested in joining, they might not want to read them.

I am personally open to reading anything, although I prefer classics.

Why read a whole book if a good screenwriter can turn it into 90 minutes of action-packed mindless nonsense... with hot chicks?

If you can find a movie version of A Christmas Carol with hot chicks, more power to you. The only hot chick I know of in that story is the Cratchitt dinner.

Yep most men read less, get bored easily and will not survive in a book club. Unless you include books with a lot of pictures. Lol!

I like reading non fiction/psychology/christian/self help books.

I hate romance books myself :p I'd rather read historical or "action" books :D
