Hi I am 18 and single and I am new to Christianity but I do believe in God and I do pray. but i just feel lonely I have felt like this for quite a long time. I have always wanted to love some one and just give them my all, I have prayed to meet someone but nothing's happened I do believe God has a better plan but it's a long time just wondering has anyone really felt this way and how have you dealt with this feelings?

Yes God has sent me "someone" several times. So far he hasn't sent me husband material, but friends :)

Romantic love isn't what we need.
We need God's love, and brotherly love.

Sure, some people will find someone to share their life with, but the bible gives no promises of this, there is no "perfect match for everyone".

Oh right
I understand what you mean.
You kinda made me realize that being with God is the most important and that it comes first with him
Thank you so much
But have you ever looked so someone?

Yes, God has done this for me and He can do it for you too. Just be patient and it will happen sooner rather than later. Glad to have you join our family. Welcome to CC.

Be patient but also be open to the infinite possibilities life can offer. Getting to know someone and helping others will help with the loneliness. Just don't expect too much because not everyone will respond the way you want them to. Welcome to CC.

I once was in a relationship that I thought would turn serious, but it didn't (it was long- distance and we never actually met, so I gave up on it). A while after that a lot of stuff happened that kept me too busy to think much about relationship. What is has made me realize though is that at the times when I long for someone to be with, it is because I feel alone, so I have started looking for other ways to deal with that. We're all different, maybe it won't work for you, but it did for me :)

I get it and you found ways other ways to deal with that if it's not to much to ask what did you do to dell with it?

I'm not sure what I did at first. Probably put even more effort into my studies, as I was in the last year of my bachelor degree.

After I finished it, I was busy applying for jobs, and eventually ended up moving to Scotland to work, which meant that the first month was packed with sorting out all sorts of stuff, I think maybe that was what finally removed it entirely for my mind. There wasn't time to worry about other things :p Once that was sorted out, I got a friend at work who loved travelling and in general outdoors-y stuff, so every day was packed with something :) maybe that's the trick. Keeping busy.

Thanks :)
(hasn't been of any use yet though, my job was just tech support on printers. Make sure you never enter that line of work, people are crazy! :p )

Keeping busy alright thank you and you know that sounds great to just keep busy and to hang out with friends and to travel and congratulations on your degree that's amazing!

almost everyone feels this way. even we elderly married folks do from time to time. ;)

and not to Jesus juke you (lol), but God has given you Himself. the ultimate love!

also, not to be condescending, but you're young. give it time. :)

This thread reminds me of a song from the Downings.

When I thought I needed friendship
I had to stand alone
When I thought that I was doing right
The Lord said I was wrong
I've been looking for a mountain top
But a valley's all I see
Jesus always seems to know
Exactly what I need

Oh wow that's super cool actually I think I shave heard of it too haha
Thank you

I would say you're only 18 and it's a bit young to be so caught up in finding someone. You are just starting life. Go enjoy it and don't waste your life worrying about what you don't have.
God might bring you someone. And He might not. It could be a month. It could be 20 years. Or never. It's not our job to chase after our desires, but to chase after God and trust Him to lay out our life in what's best for us, not what we Think is best for us. He wants us to live, not sitting around waiting for things.
