I'm blessed enough to have most Decembers off due to the seasonal nature of employment in my line of work. It gives me a blessing of time to contemplate the Advent, the year ahead, and the year to come.

This freedom though has some bad side-effects. I invariably toss my sleep schedule away and stay up all hours of the night.

So here are things that keep me awake:

1. Television series I've been waiting all year to watch.

2. Forum conversations.

3. Anything and everything to do with history between 1500 and 1991.

4. Books and writing projects.

5. Evaluating hare brained schemes some of my friends have (I stayed up all night toying with something last week only to be disappointed in how unoriginal we both are) (I'm still trying to convince him it won't work).

6. Tweaking my resume for NO REASON.

7. Coffee at 9:30 when I really know I shouldn't, but it tastes irresistible with various foods.

8. Nagging Philosophical or Theological questions I've back-logged.

9. My dogs.

10. The sudden urge to take a shower in order to try and fall asleep.

Okay folks, there is my ten. What keeps you awake at until all hours of the night?

getting up to spend time with the Lord.
That is His call, dreams are visions He gives at night.
Praying for the people pounding down the road at this hour
to keep us supplied with all we have been blessed with.
Bless you all

If I have something to prepare for the days to come, whether it be work related or family related, I can get a little anxious and be staying up for much too long. Also, drinking coffee after 4 PM is a no go.

For me its things that wake me up at 3am in a panic...

Oh I need to include that data from x project in my proposal

Why is my arm tingling...am I having a heart attack?!? Oh wait I slept on it funny

That chapter on florence listed that original pizza cafe to visit...did I write that down?

I really need to finish that dang sweater before I start knitting those socks

Did I call my friend like I promised???

Did I make a ghastly mistake joining my HOA??

1. Day dreaming (day as in 'awake' and not day as in 'day'). I have this bad habit of reading one line from a good book or the bible and then think of all sorts of possibilities like if I was alive at that time, what would I have done?! Sometimes it turns into a good story until Marvel superheroes appear, then it becomes epic.

2. Township. A city-building IOS app (Not a game! But a strategically sophisticated app).

3. Posting on my blog.

4. Attempting to post on my blog.

5. Crazy people on skype.

When it's 3:00 AM I just set my clock back to 10:30...

then I relax and think to myself,
"I am SO AMAZING at sticking to my schedule!"

Pregnancy. Nothing but random thinking and general sleeplessness. I'm thinking about getting a headlamp and starting a craft. like knitting or sewing or embroidary. That way I don't bug anybody else with tossing and turning or getting up and doing something.
