I believe the Lord speaks to all of us regularly. How well do we listen?

I definitely never heard him audibly either and in a similar fashion i have felt his presence but ultimately God has spoken to us all through his word. IF your not reading your bible your not hearing from God... In regards to hearing him audibly im very skeptical about things like that.

I believe we can hear Him audibly but it's rare indeed, mostly He speaks to us in other ways. Like Utah I have felt God's pleasure when I have obeyed His instruction - this is not as often as it should be!

Yes Utah do share?

So does anybody believe God speaks through his word at all? See there are times when i dont feel his presence or think his thoughts or hear him audibly at all... and i think its because he has given me HIS WORD as his primary means of communication and the Spirit bears witness to the truth of HIS WORD

Yes of course, He speaks to us in many ways but primarily He speaks to us through His word. If we are ever in any doubt as to God's take on something or if we're unsure about pursuing something we need only go to His word and this is the way He speaks to us.

What Jesus and God said in the Bible is true, and we want to read the Bible to learn what he said, but he wants to develop a person relationship with us. The Bible tell us that. The greatest commandment of all is to love him with all our hearts, minds, and souls (Matt 22:34-40), and Paul instructs us to pray constantly (1 Thess 5:17).

When i was a kid i heard HIM audibly once, it was loud, super deep voice, and it sounded like he was right next to my ear, while at the same time coming from inside and everywhere at the same time... in some rare cases God will say something to someone
audibly, but usually He does it with messages, and by putting thoughts and revelations in a person.

As John Owen a Pastor, Oxford Professor and Christian theologian would put it... "If private revelations agree with scripture they are needless, and if they disagree, they are false"

I would rather see more Christians reading there bibles more rather than try and experience Gods voice for themselves. It undercuts and discourages Christians reading Gods word whilst also having no basis for these 'God spoke to me audibly' moments.

imo, one thing about God only speaking through the Bible is it means illiterate people can never hear from God.

It's good to read the Bible to better understand the Lord, but the goal is to have a personal relationship with him.

We have an illiterate guy in our church - God gives him the most amazing visions! God will always find a way to communicate with us.

huh? Its good to the read the bible? For a Christian its his spiritual nourishment as Christ says "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Thats how we have a personal relationship with him.. right?? How do you know who he is, who we are, what hes like etc etc? Oh because the bible reveals to us. The spirit which dwells within us BEARS WITNESS TO THE TRUTH OF GODS WORD!!!!
