Doesn't 'hyper' mean active and abundant? Are you saying you only want just a very small insignificant amount of God's grace? You certainly don't want the marvelous amount of startling grace that will give a sinner a death-shattering eternal life with Jesus, do you?
Ellis is just taking what Legalists intended for a 'put-down', and showing it to be truly the kind of marvelous, excessive GRACE God gives us in Salvation.

I find it very telling that when those that "oppose" the super abundant grace of God are the very ones with the most perverse behavior towards other believers. Some of these have called others every name in the book with their malice and slander. I have seen them call beloved children of our loving Father names like, heretics, satanic, lovers of sinning, perverted, delusional..etc.
Some of these are even supposedly pastors. I have even seen the disparaging of another person's bible college they went to because they believed something different then what they do. Their seminary is so much better than the other person's bible school so what they believe is the right truth.
This behavior is atrocious and they think this is godly behavior. It's absolutely shocking to watch this type of behavior unfold amongst us but that is the very nature of religion. Religion is a bully and a control freak that loves to insult others that believe differently than what they do in some area.
They love to demean and insult others with their high-mindedness and their "supposedly" superior knowledge of the bible. Their constant attempts to "lord it over other believer's faith" is not from our Father or Lord.
I simply refuse to interact with these types that continue to exhibit this behavior anymore and leave them in the capable hands of their Lord that loves them dearly.
The process is simple. Rom. 16:17 needs to be implemented because of the possibility of 1 Cor. 15:33 happening. If not then - Hebrews 10:15 is what the outcome can be from interacting with these types.

English, as with Greek, doesn't always take a prefix added to a word, like "hyper" and it adds up to something better. For example, hyperactive is not a good thing, it means "too much" activity. When applied to children, it usually implies ADHD. Hypermanic, as another example, would mean psychotic, and dangerously so!
So just because hypergrace adherents tell you it means over abundant grace, it more likely refers to over the top fanatics, who make doctrines out of one verse, and wrongly twist the meanings of words.
As Blueladybug so ably posted, in fact, the grace of God is the real truth. A grace which has called us and saved us and transformed us. The grace of God is something we are all dependent on. God gives each person as much grace as they need. Hence, why would anyone require more grace than God has given us? But that is the thing with cults, by redefining some words, and making up other iffy words like hypergrace, they are able to deceive more people with their lies!
I just thought of hypersexuality! This is a symptom of some forms of mental illness, in which people are driven into extra high sex drive, destroying marriages, damaging lives and bodies. It is also not a good thing.
Let's put the lie to rest that hypergrace means more grace, rather than reflecting that the term is derogatory, and not at all what God has in mind for the grace he pours into our hearts and lives.

Honestly I was not in as many hyper grace debates as some and for the longest time had no idea what hyper grace was. But honestly these types of titles to me are pointless grace is not a doctrine that you can change to fit your own views and beliefs it's a gift from God and is something that unlike doctrine cannot be changed to fit our views though some may try.

You're absolutely entitled to limit God's gift just as much as you want.... or, DON'T want.
As far as I know, not a soul in the world ever mentioned the term "hyper-grace" until Legalists began trying to besmirch believer's sincerity and validity in God's Grace by throwing their invented term around like it was some kind of disease.

And with this situation - some have embraced the beauty of the Lord's unsurpassing riches of His grace by making lemonade out of the term. Trying to separate grace from Christ is like trying to separate the wet from the water.

When people speak derogatory terms about the grace of God we make lemonade out of it. ( I firmly believe these are for the most part well-meaning people that are using this term out of ignorance because of a difference in a belief in some area that we were taught in our religious backgrounds)

I'm not sure what hypo grace is either. Until a couple months ago I never heard the term.
I've expressed it several times. It is no more than a term Legalists invented to hopefully bring condemnation on people who trust in God's grace.
