Like in real life we will have our heads chopped off whenever speaking our minds. I guess that, to some extent, is necessary, or else the craziest things will be expressed. Problem is whenever our adversaries are axe wielding maniacs.

I dont mind agreeing to disagree but I find that some people are less mature than pre-schoolers which is sad. And that is absolutely sickening me. We have people here from all denominations and backgrounds. The body of Christ is supposed to have multiple parts to work together and function, not parts chopping one another off.
yes.
Paul put it this way --

If you bite and devour each other,
watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

(totally hear you on this, Demi. just an observation here. maybe true, maybe not)

why does the bdf have so many more posts than other places, like the family forum?

maybe, people like to express their opinions, things they feel God has shown them.

then another person expresses their opinion in a way that puts the first opinion in a bad light.

now the first person wants to defend their idea so the second person can come to the truth.

and they're off!

Where is this talking about opinions?

* If person "A" has an opinion (a point of view), he is free to voice that opinion.

* If person "B" disagrees sharply, he is free to voice his opinion of disagreement.
(He is not only free to express his opinion of disagreement, but he is also free to express ardently and emotionally, and even irrationally, if that is his choice.)

* If YOU come along and feel person "B" was unkind, and should NOT HAVE SPOKEN, you are free to voice that opinion.

* If I come along and feel YOU should NOT be trying to stop people from speaking, and voicing their opinions, through your shaming of them in some faux moral attack... I am free to voice that opinion.

* If you want to come along, and ACCUSE me of what I did NOT say, while IGNORING what I DID say, and skirting completely around the entire concept of freedom of opinion and expression I brought up, and pretending the only issue at hand is that we're talking about how YOU are righteously correctly the bad people... you are free to voice that opinion.

* If I want to point out that you seem to be intentionally ignoring my actual points, so you can take the role of the self righteous reformer, who is only, by justice and righteousness, trying to CURTAIL and STOP the free expression and opinions of others... I am free to voice that opinion.

*Finally,
when you reply, and either say you have no idea what I'm talking about, or that I'm simply wrong about everything...
you are free to voice that opinion also.

:)

Isn't it wonderful when everyone has freedom to express their opinion?

A. Not all who cry "Lord, Lord" follow the Lord really. So don't keep assuming just because someone can argue something biblical, (or even pretending to be biblical), they don't have to be, nor might not actually be, a Christian.

B. Maturing is a lifelong climb up an icy mountain with no pick or D-rings. There's a lot of sliding backwards, but the plan is to get up the freaking slope.

Hey everyone and Merry Christmas

The more I come into here the more fed up I get. Its impossible to have a normal discussion without it exploding into name calling and accusations.
New people who come here are disgusted by the ''lack of love'' from people here and the ''war zones". If they make a political thread, they get attacked. If they make a bible discussion thread or a few, they get attacked for ''that being their first thread".
People ask a serious question as they are hurt or whatever and what do they get? Go see a doctor and get some meds.. Seriously?
People ask a question like ''I hear God,how about you?" and people end up arguing and talking about the ''false doctrine" they think there is, instead of answering the question.
Not even talking about the ''how dare you create a thread like this on Christmas".

I am not so sure if this body of Christ here is the same that Jesus spoke of and taught about, it surely doesnt seem like it.

Just my two cents
Have a good day, I'm out
Question for you that is not about hearing God, but about what are you expecting to happen here.

I don't believe God talks to people anymore. I don't think he ever talked to people like some claim he talks to them all the time. I can, and have, gone into detail with this one, and you've read what I thought before. AND I've read what you thought too, and know we disagree.

Soooo, what's the question? How are we supposed to react to such questions as joint members of God's body?

Seriously, you want maturity? Let me know what I'm supposed to do.

Is this the same as the "My Activity" tab when you're on your homepage?

Interestingly, it says "My Activity", but shows the activity of people from one's friend list as well!

Ill explain what I meant. The post itself was a question and it wasnt about if God still speaks to people today. He asked who else is talked to by God.
Which some said yes, some said naw I havent heard him etc. And it escalated into a argument away from the OP and ends up completely undermining the original question.
Thats what I meant.
(you werent meant with immature)
I know we disagree on the subject and I dont mind.

I had an individual that was on my friend list that was very heavy "contributor" to the forums.

I got tired of seeing all of this person's posts showing up on my activity log.

I viewed this individual's profile, saw how many people were on this individual's friend list, and concluded that s/he wouldn't notice if I removed her/him from my friend list.

This person's activity no longer appeared on my activity log which left me mainly with my activity(forum posts).

Wallah! (In other words, Yahooo, Yyyyyyesss!!, Bingo!, etc.)

Believe me Demi I know just what your feeling the complete lack of love and the overwhelming presence of Christians by title only can be very tiring. There is a reason the world sees Christians as lying judgmental holier than thou hypocrites and as much as I wish it weren't so for the most part the world is right about us.

Love and the heart of God is so scarce i the church these days Just as Jesus predicted when he said in the end times love would wax cold, for me though this is all the more reason to show true love and to show God's heart and who he truly is because the light shines the brightest in the dark after all. And believe me many times I have gone to the bible discussion forum to attempt to still the waters and remind everyone that we are called to be love and honestly it's like talking to a bunch of children they never listen or even heed anything I say but I do so anyways because amongst the hundreds of people in that forum I believe that id even one heart can be touched and be reminded who we are that makes all the headaches worth it.

sometimes God places us in a place of utter chaos and non existing love because his love is needed most there

I know we disagree on the subject and I dont mind.
I intentionally avoided that thread, because I knew some of my friends disagree with me, (and vice versa.) BUT, here is the thing -- I also don't feel free to say what I think, because people will be hurt and will disagree. And, yet, I also think it's very important to understand how to really "hear God." And, as I stated before, many on here who claim to be Christian aren't, and yet they feel free to tell whatever they think as long as they think it's okay to say they hear from God.

When I was young, a friend of mine prayed to God to buy a car. He waited to "hear from God" before deciding which car to buy. God told him, "buy the blue car," so he did.

This friend was making minimum wage and wasn't the type of guy to go look for a job that paid more. (He was in his 20's and living with his mom then.) The blue car got 8 mpg. He honestly couldn't afford the gas, but God told him.

THIS is why I'd like to say something, but I'm still stuck with I don't want to hurt my friends. AND it would start an argument.

So, this isn't about this particular argument (other than we both understand the sides to the arguments.) It's about wisdom in God and the body unifying.

And, I suspect I am right about where you are -- frustrated that I fear joining in, and frustrated that it always comes down to personal opinion over God's opinion, but is that the best we can do as the body? What really is the other biblical choice? (If I knew, I'd be telling you instead of asking you. lol)
