With your type of linear thinking it is not a surprise that you didn't understand any of my answers but there you have it, you don't understand because you only think in black and white. If God is not alive then he can't possibly be dead and I have no idea why you have such a hard time with that concept but again that's your problem not mine. You have a lot of opinion but nothing to back you up in scripture. When you actually die you might understand more but then obviously it will be too late to be useful.

He offered Scripture in another reply bro but you leave that one alone. The above is unnecessary and demeaning and no Scripture.

Hi Preacher4truth,

I am not a 'they' by the way. I am a person.

Yep. They employ not only shoddy, but inconsistent hermeneutics. Clearly Paul is speaking of all mankind and making arguments that all are in the same category. He's been arguing this since Romans 1:18, but some miss it altogether and start passing out some verses to Jews and others to Gentiles. Bad hermeneutic.

Hello StanJ,
I must disagree with your opening statement because of it being both baseless and untrue. Please don't offer insulting remarks on my intellect, they're unnecessary and callow. You asked me if I think God is alive, which questioning implies what? That's right, that you don't believe Him to be alive, to which one must ask, 'Do you StanJ think He's dead'? If you don't like the logical questions that will follow your absurd questions (Titus 3:9) then think of that before you offer up statements that aren't well thought out or Scriptural.
They're based on your statements and they are true. If you don't like my remarks then don't engage me. To quote an old movie "you can't handle the truth".
That is correct I did ask you if you thought he was alive and instead of answering affirmatively based on your previous responses you came back and deflected with a question, so in my mind that's not being ingenuus that's playing games.
If God created life and death how could he possibly be life or death or be alive or dead? Creating means that didn't exist before so how could life or death that God created exist before he created it?
To answer you again, I know He's alive and you seemingly have a problem with that. I will answer one last time and then practice some Titus 3:9. You ask these types of questions while making pretense others are to blame for what you've brought upon yourself and continue to do. Then you comment on their character.
How do you know he's alive? Bible says God has no beginning and no end but life does have beginning and end so how do you know that God is alive. I comments because of the snotty remarks that are made along with statements such as yours.
He is the ever existent one, Exodus 33. He imparts life; Genesis 1, and therefore must be alive, full of life, and exist. In Christ is life, John 1:4; because He is life; John 11:25. In Him we have life because He is life, and is therefore alive. He cannot possess and impart life and not be alive Himself. But lastly you again insult and call my question disingenuous? You're angry, I agree. Please brother, either answer when you're not anger or leave off remarks to demean others as seen in this thread? I forgive you though brother, you're possibly only insulting in your responses due to your anger. :)
There are different levels and planes of existence that still doesn't mean that those people are alive and existence does not equate to being alive except in Jesus we have life because he offers it to us. He tells us if we accept him so how does that make you arrive at the fact that he's alive. Before the creation of the world did God exist and if he did exist how could he be alive if he created life after he created the heavens and the Earth. I don't deny getting angry but I do follow the scriptural admonition to get angry and sin not.
Read Hebrews 7 to see who God is.

Nope I don't like your remarks on my person, they're baseless and untrue. The rest of your post is so full of error and insult I must dismiss all of it along with you as well, unfortunately, but you've earned it.

Hi Preacher4Truth,

Well the whole understanding of Romans is really in question here then.

I am not really au fait with Calvinism, but it seems clear that it has its roots in a certain way of understanding the Epistle to the Romans.

StanJ - Hi there.

Is God alive? This is an interesting question. One reason why christians would find that
subject difficult, because most would have never investigated it. It does not mean it has
value, because God is obviously alive. And life does not have a beginning and an end,
biological life as we experience it has a beginning and end. But cancer cells given the right
environment would never have an end.

And life as we understand it, biologically is defined within the 5 functions, respiration, regulation,
reproduction, excretion and growth. These do not apply to the Father, but do apply to Christ.

Life in the sense of God is founded on love and relationship. Life is the flow between and within
beings, and is very much active and dynamic. So God is very much alive, and is the source of
life.

I wonder how this discussion has created anger?

I've held this contextual view prior to being reformed brother.

All TD means is that we are mortal.

Dead or totally dead - it is a meaningless distinction. When you are dead you are dead.

Is that dead void of spirit life needed to believe by hearing God as he gives the faith to make it possible and therefore have the faith of Christ, as His work working in us to both will and do his good pleasure.

No spirit, no life .Those who do not receive a new spirit, new heart (seat of desire) that will never die (no corruption) will be not awakened to new eternal spirit life.

Those who have been born of God will rise to new spirit life. They will be given there new incorruptible body(not flesh and blood) . It could never enter the kingdom of God.

Jam 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Sounds like a JW doctrine. Hoping the flesh will profit for something(if only, imagine)

Created life does have a beginning and an end .Just not for Christ, the Holy anointing Spirit of God, called the Son of God. He put on sinful flesh to put away sin in the flesh as the Son of man. That flesh died when of his own volition He gave it up His Spirit, returning to the father.. The flesh and blood without the spirit returning to the lifeless spiritless dust it was taken from

He remains supernatural, without mother or father beginning of days or end of spirit life. Cancer cells that pertain to a corrupted body of death, dead in its trespasses and sin without hope from birth have an end just as he designed it to. .Speculating will not change that law .It is not subject to change .What we will be is not what we are.

We simply do not know Christ after any rudiment of this world which includes flesh and blood.

Romans 1:18 is very clearly about the Jews. I have seen very good bible teachers go awry on this point.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Who held the Truth, and who held it in unrighteousness?

The Levitico-Jews. "Unto them were committed the oracles of God". Not that Paul particularly needed to spell it out.

First off, Paul wrote this to the church at Rome, a largely church..

Romans 3:11 is addressed to the Jews though, not all mankind

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law:

"It is better to study Romans a thousand years, than spend one day studying Calvin" - myself

Now, I will apply the same above hermeneutic to another passage in the book of Romans...

Do you not know, brothers and sisters— I am speaking to those who know the law-that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.[Romans 7:1-4]

Paul wrote the above to the church at Rome, a largely Gentile church. The bill of divorcement was given to the Jews by God through Moses. Now, if the same hermeneutic is used as you used, then this is only applicable to the Jews and not Gentiles. But the Law has dominion over all lost ppl. Remember, the Law is only a schoolmaster that brings the lost to Christ.[Galatians 3] If this hermeneutic rings true, then divorce was not applicable to the Gentiles. But we can read other places where divorce is allowable to all whose spouse cheated on them.

The Church at Rome was Jewish and Non-Jewish. (serious) 63% Jewish 37% non-Jewish according to Pliny The Younger's 56AD Census. (joking).
Paul is addressing the Jews in the Church here. (serious)

Where does it say this?

No. You have to put yourself under the Law, which was done through circumcision.

[/I]

Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. [SUP] [/SUP]So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.[SUP] [/SUP]So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [SUP] [/SUP]If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.[Galatians 3:23-29]

Paul writing to the Galatian church, which was also a largely Gentile church, IIRC. The lost are under the Law until Christ frees them from it.

Paul was addressing the church at Rome en masse, not just the Jews.

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.[Romans 1:7]

This was addressed to all the believers at this church, but Jews and Gentiles alike.

If God created life and death how could he possibly be life or death or be alive or dead? Creating means that didn't exist before so how could life or death that God created exist before he created it?

Death did not begin until he subjected the whole creation to corruption. he did not want Adam and Eve to learn by experience rather by His faith.

Isaiah 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High

God whose name is Jealous (he owns everything) knew that his creation would become jealous of their Creator and want to be like Him who alone has free will. We were created to obey His will as our free will ,violating it became man fell became subject to the will of the one who wanted to be like God.

We as natural man have become slaves to the lying will of the father of lies, the god of this world. A man must be born again from above.

Better things accompany salvation the redemption of our soul..
