You have not been very clear, seeing that three of us are asking you to clarify your statement(s), hoping it would be you who would clear up the muddy water.
Those who muddy the water should clear it up and as I haven't muddied the waters there's nothing for me to clear up.

Sure as soon as you do likewise and show some respect. All I see from you were smart alec remarks but no substance.

Where have I been sniping? I have asked you in a civil manner to clear up the water you muddied. I did not mean that in a snarky manner, and seeing you took it that way, please accept my apology.

So God created life, imparts life, and you think he is alive? So you think God created himself?

Hello StanJ,

God is life, thus He can impart life. How you arrive at your last statement is remarkable and non sequitur my friend. It's almost akin to saying since man can procreate therefore man created himself. But please do answer the questions of your brothers and sisters.

Hey Preacher...God is love, 1 John 4:8,16.
God created everything including procreation and in fact as the Holy Spirit did procreate, which is how Jesus came to be.
Matthew 1:20
I have answered all the questions but if you have a question that is pertinent then go ahead and ask it.

I will if you can start to show that you're serious about this issue but if you're going to continue to post the same way then I won't.

And you think He's dead?
You have a fairly narrow concept of life and death. God created life and death and also gave us his word so we can see what they are. Do you think God is dead and what would make you think that I believe God is dead when he was never alive in the first place? This is what angers me when I see these type of disingenuous questions.

Colossians 1:15-16
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

God is not alive? That is why we are asking you to explain what you mean here. If He is not alive, then He is dead. There is no middle ground. No one is partially alive or partially dead.

God was never alive to begin with? This post has been reported along with at least one other. This is beyond the scope of heresy.

Hello StanJ,

I must disagree with your opening statement because of it being both baseless and untrue. Please don't offer insulting remarks on my intellect, they're unnecessary and callow. You asked me if I think God is alive, which questioning implies what? That's right, that you don't believe Him to be alive, to which one must ask, 'Do you StanJ think He's dead'? If you don't like the logical questions that will follow your absurd questions (Titus 3:9) then think of that before you offer up statements that aren't well thought out or Scriptural.

Here is your statement:

So God created life, imparts life, and you think he is alive?

To answer you again, I know He's alive and you seemingly have a problem with that. I will answer one last time and then practice some Titus 3:9. You ask these types of questions while making pretense others are to blame for what you've brought upon yourself and continue to do. Then you comment on their character.

He is the ever existent one, Exodus 33. He imparts life; Genesis 1, and therefore must be alive, full of life, and exist. In Christ is life, John 1:4; because He is life; John 11:25. In Him we have life because He is life, and is therefore alive. He cannot possess and impart life and not be alive Himself. But lastly you again insult and call my question disingenuous? You're angry, I agree. Please brother, either answer when you're not anger or leave off remarks to demean others as seen in this thread? I forgive you though brother, you're possibly only insulting in your responses due to your anger. :)

“Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.[Revelation 1:17b,18]

Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, became flesh, and lived on the earth. He was alive in the Spirit, always being the Father's Son. Jesus, the Son of man, died upon a cross to atone for sinners.

But doesnt the bible say in Romans 3:11 that none seek God? nor do they understand God? Notice Jesus says "though you are evil" in Matthew 7. We do have the ability to give good gifts to seek and to find your right.....BUT....when it comes to things that must be revealed or must be spiritually discerned we do not have the ability to understand these things nor want them either in and of ourselves because we are spiritually incapable and unable to. God must liberate/regenerate our wills so that it now can understand and can actually desire and want God and therefore seek him etc. Before this happens we cannot do this, it is only by Gods grace alone.

Of course we make choices day to day but you cannot make a choice that goes against your very nature. Our natures are one of evil and wickedness therefore, though you can choose to do good like it says in Matthew 7 right, it cannot change the fact that your still evil no matter how much good you do. To put it simply you cannot choose to change your nature because that very choice in itself is coming out of a nature that is wicked and sinful. Your choices come from your nature and your nature is sinful and wicked therefore your choice will always be tainted by sin. This is why Calvinists would strongly claim that the emphasis should not be on mans choice because our choices are sinful for they come out of a sinful nature but rather on Gods choice. So lets talk about the freedom of Gods will rather than mans will. :)

Romans 3:11 is addressed to the Jews though, not all mankind

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law:

"It is better to study Romans a thousand years, than spend one day studying Calvin" - myself

If one were to learn the Word from Jesus Christ, then study the doctrines of all Christian denominations, he would find all to be depravity in the purist form........ I give there may be an e4xception, but as yet I have not encountered it.

We may all rely on the faith of Abraham, those who know what it is that is.

Hello Spurgeoncy,

The context begs to differ, prior to verse 11 we have "What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin", Therefore the 'nones' that follow apply to all of mankind, not just to Jews. Paul is using this to show that both the Jews and Gentiles are in the same category, those Jews who thought they followed and sought after God, who reviled the Gentiles as not doing it, are shown that they did not do this themselves. :)

Nicodemus did not understand what Jesus was telling him. I wonder how he really felt, maybe he did feel totally depraved sneaking out to talk to Jesus under cover of the night. Total depravity... I have not read the whole thread, so I am not sure what you mean by it. But judging from the last couple of pages what I have seen you say... God is not alive, the Holy Spirit is not alive, life is only physical, our spirit lives forever... all those things have no Scriptural basis.

Or maybe he felt totally elated, or maybe he felt totally glum, or maybe he felt totally disenfranchised.

Please do not start a theology of total disenfranchisment though

I see this type of thing all the time. This portion of scripture is solely for the Jews and this portion is solely for the Gentiles, and this portion is for Israel and this portion is for the NT church. That is shoddy hermeneutics at work. All the bible is for all believers, whether they be Jew or Gentile.

With your type of linear thinking it is not a surprise that you didn't understand any of my answers but there you have it, you don't understand because you only think in black and white. If God is not alive then he can't possibly be dead and I have no idea why you have such a hard time with that concept but again that's your problem not mine. You have a lot of opinion but nothing to back you up in scripture. When you actually die you might understand more but then obviously it will be too late to be useful.

No, he is talking about those under the Law

Yep. They employ not only shoddy, but inconsistent hermeneutics. Clearly Paul is speaking of all mankind and making arguments that all are in the same category. He's been arguing this since Romans 1:18, but some miss it altogether and start passing out some verses to Jews and others to Gentiles. Bad hermeneutic.
