The definition I got was that they have learned to tell the difference between what is good and what is intrinsically worthless.

Amen...and our own attempts at righteousness are ", worthless/useless" in relation to the meat of the "word of righteousness" which is Christ's righteousness.
Being able to discern which is of Him and which is me trying to establish my own righteousness is how we are trained in this and thus we grow up in maturity in Christ.
Hebrews 5:13-14 (NASB)

Not accustomed as I said earlier means "unacquainted with something, unexperienced".
