I prefer to think of the word purity rather than celebacy.
Celebacy just conjours up pictures of medieval half bald rotund monks
in brown robes.
The bible puts it this way. It's interesting that v6 includes not to take advantage of
or defraud his brother in this matter (I take it to mean sister/brother etc). We think
it's all about us when sexual immorality is brought up, but what about the other
person who we cause to fall along with us....
I believe that as Christians we have a big responsible to ensue we don't cause a
weaker brother or sister to fall or cause a non Christian to fall in this matter.
Its not all about us. In fact no sin is just about us, it often involves someone else
and it always drags the Holy Spirit living within us, into places he does not wish
to go.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 NKJV
[3] For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from
sexual immorality; [4] that each of you should know how to possess his own
vessel in sanctification and honor, [5] not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles
who do not know God; [6] that no one should take advantage of and defraud
his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we
also forewarned you and testified. [7] For God did not call us to uncleanness,
but in holiness. [8] Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God,
who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
