I have never intentionally tried to open the third eye.

Does anyone have experience trying this, what did you experience, and how do you get there?

Or do you have reason to avoid such things?

There are many names for what your speaking of and is in many religions and cultures all around the world. The third eye is commonly seen in the Egyptians drawings they call it many things to some it's known as the all seeing eye but to them it was the blessing of the God of ra and only either high royalty or powerful sacred priests were given such a thing.

the third eye is seen on all kinds of paintings and images even aliens to a lot of people it's the minds eye the way you see images in your mind or daydream as for people like me I just call it the spiritual eyes.

You cannot awaken this though that is intertwined with occultism, it is something only God can awaken in you and it is only for his purposes not ours.
I see through these eyes all the time but I don't get to choose when or how and it certainly is not something I sought out it just happened when I became saved

At one time, I was very interested in the third eye along with all the other chakras. I was reading about Kundalini meditation and exercises to try and open the chakras or to have a "Kundalini awakening" event. I was so engrossed by it and what I was experiencing through my studies that I had "something" happen to me in late 2012 that left an indelible mark on my memory - I even commemorated it by having all 7 chakras tattooed along my spine (have a photo if you require proof).

In 2013, I tried going even further and I started messing around with hallucinogens. I started off small with mushrooms and worked my way up to brewing my own pseudo-Ayahuasca in the kitchen late at night after my Dad had gone to sleep. Then I'd drink the brew, end up purging a few times, then trip HARD for almost 6 hours at a stretch. I regret nothing.

I wonder though that since the chakras correspond to the endocrine system in our body and the third eye is associated with the Pineal gland - I wonder what God's intention was with that little structure, and I wonder why it is so deliberately atrophied in people through the chemicals we are exposed to daily. Just an oddity I ponder every one in a while.

I won't speak on the good/bad of trying to open one's chakras. All I can do is share my experience. Other people will judge as they deem fit. Let them.

Never done it before but i have heard of astral projection. Which is a separation from the physical body. I heard it's very dangerous & people have encountered demonic spirits doing it.

I do not require proof but I would love to see the picture all the same :)

The pineal gland is said to be the seat of consciousness (or the soul).
Here is an interesting page on it :) https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/pineal-gland/

Yeah third eyes are occultism, the only eyes I wanna see is through Gods I don't think He has any third eyes either because He wouldn't have anything to do with occultism

Do you think exercising chakra meditations can produce a childlike state without the assistance of illegal drugs? Is meditation similar to prayer?

I did mushrooms and acid a few times, but I wasn't looking for anything but a good time. Now I have a responsibility to my children, so I won't do illegal things.

This stuff is all occult. New age oriented teachings that are just old occult teachings with a new name.

Why would you want to open your 3rd eye? Supernatural power?

Unless God gives you the spiritual gift, I would recommend you avoid such diving into the spirit world. It will just get yourself surrounded with demons ...or "familiar spirits"

I'm an overweight, recovering alcoholic, schizoid, schmuck living in a one-horse town in central Iowa who reads too many books and watches too may documentaries because I lack the personality to have real life friendships...so take what I am about to say with a dump truck load of salt.

Yes, I think a person can have the same types of altered consciousness experiences without the aid of drugs. I think the ability to reach "beyond" is within all of our capabilities, and that certain drugs (hallucinogens) merely walk us to the right door and open it for us. That door still exists but I think most of us are so wrapped up in ourselves and our own little personal reality that we don't take the time to really stretch ourselves.

Meditation similar to prayer? Now, remember to take this with salt and keep in mind I am not a "real Christian", but I think the difference between meditation and prayer is which direction it is pointed. Both depend on set, setting, and intent to be effective. Prayer is directed outwards towards God whereas meditation is directed (usually) inwards. Some will argue that directing inwards is "bad", but I don't agree. I've known very few people who have ever taken the time to simply sit still and listen to their own thoughts. We all have a constant monologue of thoughts running through our minds and our own little internal voice that tells us we aren't good enough or can't do something. We push that voice to the background or drown it's noise out with distractions...but what would your life look like if you just walked up to that voice, got up in it's grill, and said (metaphorically) "What's your problem...you wanted my attention, and now you've got it...punk". What would life be like if you could learn to be still with your own thoughts and instead of being barraged by the monologue, you can allow those comments and flashes of thoughts to wash over you and past you as though you are a smooth stone in a river? Would being able to be still with and within yourself allow you to reach outside of yourself in prayer and get closer to God when you don't have your consciousness's shadow whispering in your ear all the time?

Those are my first thoughts based on your questions. Thank you for asking them. I enjoy talking about things like this with someone.

Wah :( No picture is showing up for me

Does my third eye need to be open in order to see it? :D
I know I posted it. It might have gotten canned by a mod for it's size. I'll resize and try again tonight.

Unless it is God given never try to open to unlock a something like that because you may open a door that shouldn't be opened and it may never be able to be closed.

It is satanic that's why i would avoid it.. Want to get possessed by demonic spirits? go and seek out the "Kundalini awakening" and awaken some chakras ... The pineal glad when activated puts one to sleep.. So opening the third eye is in fact closing ones eyes and putting on to sleep..

God told us to be awake and alert..

Get out of all that occult stuff people.. If it is in your church leave that church..

1SAM. 12:24.
Only fear The LORD, and serve Him in Truth with all your heart: for consider how great things
He hath done for you.

MATT. 4:10.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, satan: for it is written, 'Thou shalt worship The Lord thy God,
and Him only shalt you serve.'

GAL. 5:13.
For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh,
but by love serve one another.

Looking into it, most instructions I've found say to utter certain words and to focus on an object in your mind.

I'm not about to chant words that I do not know or to focus on anything but Christ.

My interest is to strengthen my communication with Jesus, nothing more, nothing less.

However, some instructions say to choose your own mantra and to imagine something you choose.

Mantra Jesus and focus Jesus, couldn't hurt.

I've got a lot of house cleaning today, but perhaps I'll find a time of peace to try it tomorrow. I'll be very careful.
