This is not a troll:

It is not a troll because it is fiction. A cartoon. A figment of the imagination. We do not have to search everywhere to protect each other from these kinds of trolls because they do not exist.

Internet Troll!

Does anyone not understand what is meant by an Internet troll?

These do exist. They come to social media to stir problems/cause flame wars. Does anyone not get this? Does anyone not know how to deal with Internet Trolls? (If you don't, here's the secret: give them no attention, since attention is what they seek. Easy enough, huh?)

The reason I ask is because anyone who comes onto this site who does not represent exactly what we expect is instantly labeled a troll.

Why? Is it our civic duty to announce this "fact" as if no one else can tell? Do we explode if that "fact" is not made public? Do we lose brownie points if we aren't the first people to state that "fact?" Will everyone die, get hurt, maimed, or otherwise fall into some deep crisis if this is not stated as quickly as possible? Can God not work, if we do not state this "fact" the very second it hits our brain? Can God not work, if we hold off on this "fact?" Can God not work if we never mention this "fact" at all?

And, is it a fact?

Because surely it seems more like a "Where's Waldo" game on this site. (I found him first! I found him first!)

But, yo! Look at that picture above? Have you ever found him first? That is a troll. Someone who is out to disrupt things -- cause anger and flame wars -- is an Internet Troll.
A. We know what a troll is, so you really don't have to be the first to find Waldo.
B. They aren't some vile, foul creature from a swamp. They are hurting people.
C. God is quite able to help hurting people.
D. We are quite able to help hurting people.
E. Calling everyone who is different a troll does NOT help hurting people.

How's this for an idea? Stop playing Where's Waldo! If you don't want to help someone who is hurting, then feel free to leave the place where they are showing their hurt. If you don't know how to help a hurting person, shut up! That, quite often, is how to help a hurting person.

But calling him/her a troll? Really, really doesn't help anyone. Not us. (Because it's not like we don't know what a troll is.) Not the person. Not even you!

Capiche? (Italian for, "Do you understand?)

I've had it up to here (hand whisking above my head) with the amount of truly hurting people this site pushes away simply because there is a need to play Where's Waldo, and the people coming ain't exactly like the people here already.

Get over it already! No one needs a Troll Guard. Consider yourself fired from a job that you never had! We serve God!

Last Year I lashed out, and people were supportive because they knew me.

Yesterday, a guy lashed out, and he was called a troll, because he is new.

T'ain't right!

I remember that many users here were nearly instantly called jack as he was the most well known troll in cc the mods had to step in and fix that issue lol

There's a difference between blunt honesty and disrespect/nastiness. Sometimes neither are necessary. (You can be honest without making it blunt or hurtful). I agree with the OP. We don't need to be constantly pointing out the trolls, except (maybe) in a rare case now and then.

Depleted,

Just as I can't tell anyone here what to say or think,
neither can you.

Everyone here is allowed to post their thoughts and opinions, as long as it doesn't violate the site's policies.

* You are welcome to have your opinion...
that although you admit trolls exist, apparently nobody is allowed to talk about them.

* And I am welcome to have MY opinion...
that people who go around ENCOURAGING the obvious trolls to keep TROLLING are being kind of silly... and it's just encouraging more disruption in the forum.

We all have our opinions.
Isn't it wonderful than we can all post them freely?

I agree with Max. Why entertain someone who you know is a troll, on a thread that runs how many pages is it up to now? 15?20 pages? IMO that's just useless typing on a troll who gets his ruckus off seeing people get all heated up.

My fear is that people will be labeled trolls if the aren't in the mainstream, and Jesus isn't in the mainstream.

Okay, so expressing thoughts and opinions and conducting ourselves according to the rules of the site is way more important than realizing that isn't a cartoon or fictional character posting whatever he/she posts? Expressing thoughts and opinions, as well as how to conduct ourselves on this site, trumps love God and love others? Tromp all over a maybe troll, because, yippee I get to express myself?

Are you 100% sure every time you announce "That's a troll," it is a troll?

AND, what possesses you to announce it? Do you fear the earth flips on its axis, someone is going to die, Typhoid Mary just hit the site, and will infect every single person on here, unless you express your thoughts and opinions?

What if the person isn't a troll? I know a couple brave souls who are still here after being told they were trolls for a week. Once "Where's Waldo" is over, I find them to be rather interesting guys. They were interesting guys all along, but the wolf pack was done playing the game and now leaves them alone. (I often wonder if it's out of embarrassment for being wrong, or they still don't fit into the hateful vib given off here in mass.)

One other thing they have in common -- they come complete with a terrible life, and yet most go on to ignore them, instead of encourage and support them.

So, you're telling me that this is simply because expressing thought and opinions, along with doing what is right along site policy is the thing that makes it worth coming back here? Not the actual encouraging or anything?

Go for it. How many times have you been 100% sure?

When you are sure, how many times do you contribute to the 10-20 pages of what happens next? If you don't do that, does cooties fill the pages? Some plague hit everyone, because we just didn't know?I get you think it's useless. So what? Do something else. There is absolutely no harm done, if we choose to ignore it... or participate.

I know a couple of people on this site that are being or have been unmercifully hounded by others, under the auspice that "That person shouldn't be on here because he/she bothers me." They get others involved, and it's a wolf pack approach behind the scenes. Is that either right or good?

I know you don't like it, so why do it to others?

I can't say "the shibboleth." Well, I can say "the," but even after looking up what the other word meant, I still can't say it. lol

(Humor. Being funny. But this is the first time I've ever seen that word.)

I would say that about 95% of the time, I am absolutely sure. And almost every time, I've been right..that person WAS a troll. And here you are spouting off about US calling people trolls, when myself and others have seen YOU do it yourself in the past.. Pot, meet kettle.. And for the most part, it's usually fairly obvious when someone is a troll, especially if it happens to be a many-times-banned member returning time and again.

Go for it. How many times have you been 100% sure?

When we post, we have a choice: Are we responding in love? We might say things that are biblically correct or defend our faith, but when there is no love and acceptance underlying our words, we are nothing but a clanging cymbal.

Our words represent our heart. Pride, self-justification and the need of approval from others seep into our posts and responses.

I know I have not always responded on CC with patience, love, or kindness and have allowed my "self" to get in the way. What's more important is that we sit back and allow God to examine our heart. Usually when I do this, I'm disgusted in what is found within me.

We do not know what people face in their lives. Some people come here to find true fellowship. Instead, they find themselves judged and deemed to not "fit in" with the members here for numerous reasons. Its easy to fall into the trap of going along with the crowd, whether on CC or in the world. I'm just as guilty of this as anyone else... and Im working on this.

I continually remind myself that the world's definition of strength and confidence are very different from heaven's definition.

The bottom line, for me, is that I need to humble myself, put others above me, examine my true motives, exercise self-control, and do my best to be a light. Whether this is acknowledged or approved by others is irrelevant. His approval is the only one that truly matters.

Jesus had trolls.

When they arrived, he didn't let them confuse and harm those around him.

He confronted them.

How did he confront them?

He simply recognized them for what they were,
and then asked them questions to make them reveal their true intentions.

Sometimes he was harsher than that.

Obviously none of us are Jesus, and none of us can follow his examples perfectly.

But nonetheless, we ARE to follow his examples.

That's what he told us to do.

I'm very sorry if you don't like the teachings of Jesus.
