As i am getting drowsy on a day starting to get warm, i try to recall some funny wakeup stuff to wake myself up. Then remember a thread thought to start before. Have you any samples you yourself mispronounced when young, or others you know?

Long, long ago a sis was reading aloud, and i suddenly sat up wondering what it was she read. It sounded like this: ka-ba-ge. I said, what again? It was cabbage after all.

I was reading this from a Reader's digest issue and took a while to figure out what he was talking about-). Really am half asleep.
MY WIFE SAYS: I'm unsophisticated and uncultured, so to prove her wrong, guess where i'm taking her. Hint: it starts with "B" and rhymes with "wallet."

Too cute, Mar! Ballet maybe ........that doesn't rhyme with wallet? LOL

My son had a hard time pronouncing some words growing up like a lot of kids do. One that stuck with him was aluminum. It was a tongue twister for him.

Since watching some of the British shows like Foyle and hearing the way they pronounce words, you'd think we were speaking a different language than the British. So on one of the shows Milner was telling his wife that his protheses was made from aluminum.

After hearing him I laughed out loud and said to my DH that our son must be mostly English because the way he pronounced it was close to how Milner said the word.

Yes, british and australian english both sound so different you need to go to a different school/class to learn to speak the same. There was a vid of a young lady w/ filipino parents, and she said u recognize filipinos when they say F-starting words with the sound P as in pebruary-). But somewhere i heard many mispronunciations was in french class, where it just (looked and) sounded so funny coz every student pronounced what was written diffrently.

We pronounce everything perfectly!

Its the Aussies and Americans that get it all wrong. Probably as a result of
a hyper cockney London accent when they emigrated. Lol :p

Hyper is a fun word it goes in front of anything!

Yeah, well :p, I heard he was talking about his accent, and I thought the person typing out the subtitles didn't fully understand the mountain accent lol.

Yeah, this accent is so perfect the rest of the world can't understand what we're saying. When we go out of town we have to take an interpreter, and you can forget trying to pay a bill by phone because we might as well be speaking Greek:p

Its probably why the accent has a long drawn out slur to it. (Joking)
