They just don't make cars like this anymore. Sigh

Do you still own any of them? By chance?

You have great taste willie!!

BTW ..DA hairstyle rocked. I should have been born in the 50s ..I want poodle skirts to come back also!!
No, my step dad sold my Studebaker when I shipped overseas. And I traded in the Cougar for a brand new Plymouth Satellite in 1971.

7th to 8th grade roller skating was huge. Every Friday night dad would give me my 5.00 allowance and drop me off at fireside roller rink at 7pm and pick me up at 11pm. It was a VERY big deal. Friends would all meet there and we would skate all night and play Pacman on arcade.

Also remember atari was huge and all my friends had one. Dad came home with Intellivision...not as cool at all

HS was all about aqua net big hair and pinstripe tight jeans
There may or may not be another CC'er who grew up playing intellivision games. And who may or may not have been excited to find the minotaur game for free in a downloadable emulator online. And who played it so much as a kid she still remembers all the controls and doesn't even need a cheat sheet. That's all I have to say about that.

Bell bottoms/elephant pants.

(Got this explanation as well.)
Q:Why do sailors wear bell bottom pants?

A:QUICK ANSWER

Bell bottom pants are often worn by sailors because their form makes sailors' work easier and safer. Although the style has long been synonymous with sailors, the look has been chosen more for its functionality than its appearance.

Something like my first car. $750. Dad bought it for me in 1974. Sold it out from under me in 1977 for $250. I kept telling him it's a classic, but he didn't get that until the college student buying it kept asking, "Only $250? For real? No, really? Only $250?"

It had minor little problems. I could go from 0-60 in 60 minutes. It couldn't go up big hills. The only thing between me and the road was the carpet. (The undercarriage was rusted away, so I called it the Flintstonemobile.) It didn't like being cold, so any temperatures under 20 degrees, and it was just easier to assume I should walk. Oh, and it had a tendency to conk out, anywhere, any time, including the fast lane.

But all my college adventures happened because of that car. Trips to the shore just to buy saltwater taffy or peanuts. Trips down to my family in VA, (where I learned it didn't do big hills the hard way), and my first speeding ticket, where I learned the speedometer was off by 12 mph. I was "only" going 80. The cop clocked me at 92. The speed limit was 55.

I'd contribute to your YouTube channel just for a video (go ahead and create one! :D) of the Infamous Willie-T... hula hooping. :D

(Actually, it's just because I'm jealous. No matter how long you hula hoop, it'll be longer than I ever did because I could never get it to even stay in place!)
My record for longest time was four swings before it hit the ground. One around the waist, next around the hips, then around the knees, then the ground. What's your record?

And yeah I remember the days when a hand held game was just one game as well, and then gameboys happened but they were a whole lot more expensive than those single hand held games.
Gameboys were a step in the right direction, though. Those Tiger LCD games were awful : p

Ive also read that they werent even all that cheap, like they could be around 20$ per game. So besides like the initial 99$ to get the Gameboy, youd be better off getting Gameboy games than you would these things, haha.

Most of us white boys wore DA's in the 50's.

"What's that greasy kid's stuff in your hair?" lol

(A question a reporter dared to ask JFK at a press conference. And that was the shocking questions by reporters back then.)

This is the only other sharp car I've owned. I bought this about a year before I got married the first time.

Pong came out when I was in college, so didn't grow up on it. We got an Atari with the money we received at our wedding. Although I wasn't a teenager, I set the county record. (Could have kept going, but it was four hours into it, and they didn't have pause buttons for bathroom breaks. lol)

Never got another game console after Intellivision. It seems hubby missed me when I spent the whole night playing, and, since it was hooked up to the TV, he also missed primetime TV.

I'm a bit obsessive.

It was. The first-gen Mercury Cougar was built on the same chassis as the Ford Mustang. It could be ordered (if you knew how to use the build list to your advantage), with all manner of go-fast parts. It had the benefit of lower insurance rates because it WASN'T a Ford Mustang, and it was kind of a "sleeper" because nobody expected much from a Mercury Cougar, until you opened the throttle on the 428CJ under the hood and blew the doors off your rivals.

About a half an hour, and then I get tired of it.

I would borrow an Atari from my grandparents. The Nintendo and Sega Genesis was out at the time, so I didn't have much use for it.

Dungeons and Dragons. (That's the game hubby got upset with me playing. I think I hit the 252 level in one night. After something like the 50th level it was all the same. lol)
