Think of it this way. You don't want to see a chick flick...maybe she feels the same way about rock music. I know I don't like it very much. It's too loud.

But if she seems like the type of girl that would enjoy that, then do it. You know her better than we do. ;)
I seen Twilight by myself in theaters. I could do a chick flick if she really wanted to.

I don't want to get married, unless I bring up bring marriage and see what she thinks. Maybe she doesn't want to get married.
Wait, I was kidding about proposing that fast.

But quit overanalyzing this whole thing and just create an opportunity to talk with her, you won't get any additional clarity otherwise

Unless you just want to go watch a particular movie with someone, why go on a date to a movie? How about dinner or maybe just a cup of coffee. Talk to her and find out about her to see if you two might be a good match.

You can't do that while watching a movie. Unless she behaves herself really badly at the movies, you don't learn much from taking a woman to the movies. Can she sit in a chair for an hour and a half? Yes. Most people can. If you are treating, does she spend too much on popcorn and drinks to the extent that it is inconsiderate? You'd learn the same thing from dinner. If she is a normal, polite person, you aren't going to find much about her from going to a movie with her. But you could find a lot about her by having a conversation.

You are in your '30's. This is serious. Don't waste time by having dates just to have a good time. :)

Btw, you might not want to post a woman's picture on an Internet forum like this. What if she found it? One of her friends or relatives might call her up and tell her they saw her picture on the forum.
I always wanted to take a girl to the movies when i was in my 20's. I was taking lunch then if we go out on a second date maybe do the movies. I would really like to see if we like the say things and believe in the same things. I wouldn't mind coffee if it was Starbucks though not sure if she likes coffee.

Get an email address from her and then send her a list of "get to know you" questions. This questions can be explored(discussed in more detail) in a later conversation(s). This ought make it a lot easier to start a conversation.

Some ideas are below. Some serious and some for fun. Very easy to google "questions to ask a date" for more ideas.

1. Favorite _____? (e.g. - food, color, season, movie, tv show, music group)
2. Name 3 places you would like to see in your lifetime.
3. Person from history you'd like to meet.
4. Something that made you laugh.
5. Favorite Bible verse. Why?
6. Outdoor activities you like?
7. Indoor activities you like?
8. TP roll stream top going down or from behind and down?
9. Odd or even?
10. Rock concert or museum?
I rather just text her as she has a cellphone.

Yea you should see if she likes coffee before deciding on that. I dont know if id go with " This is serious. Don't waste time by having dates just to have a good time". Considering you both are already shy and there's no need to add even more tension. I figured y'all could do something fun together to break the ice but it's ultimate your call to make

Starbucks has other drinks, and there are other places besides Starbucks.

You might want to save the marriage talk until your second date with her. :)

Art84,

In one post you said you don't want to get married because you don't want to give up your money, and then said you were kidding. In another post, you said you didn't want to get married, but it wasn't clear if you meant not at all, or not right now.

Do you never want to marry? If you don't, why date?

If you don't want to marry, taking a girl on an actual 'date' is wasting her emotional energy, leading her on, possibly opening up doors for temptation, and wasting her valuable spouse-finding time.

8. Do you or any of your relatives have a history of mental illness?

Art I think you're overthinking this. Sunday after church just ask her. "Hey, would you like to go have lunch?" It's that easy. Don't overthink it because that's when you get nervous.

She enjoys every type of music except country. I always wanted to take girl to a concert as i usually go alone as i don't have any to go with. Saw Switchfoot and Relient K last year was awesome. I don't want want to buy the concert tickets and be stuck with them in advance. Probably just ask her what type of bands/music she likes. I know that not everyone likes rock music and some like other gens.
There's your opening line, hey there's a concert coming up with these bands playing would you be interesting in hanging out with me and going to a concert.

The worse could happen is she says no, then you know where you stand as just friends or maybe it can lead to something more.

That's very interview-y....

That approach wouldn't sit very well with me.

Art, talk to her like you would a friend. You go to the same church right? You could talk about the most recent service or something and let things come up organically from there. Just be sincere.
If you think its going well, go ahead and mention that she caught your eye several years ago and you've always wanted to spend time with her.

Then, ask for her hand in marriage.
Don't recall ever getting this response from a woman that I did the questions with.

I think I told each female up front what I was doing, and none either rejected my suggestion or were offended. :p

When you say act bad at the movies what exactly does that mean? Like if she was loud during the movies or couldn't keep seat in her chair or had to go the bathroom throughout the entire movie. Or are you talking if she wanted to hold hands and make out during the movie?
Hopefully, the latter.

I mean, watching a movie and eating popcorn together doesn't let you know much about each other. You'd only see if she exhibited unusual behavior during the movie would you learn something. I suppose if she held your hand during the movie, that would show you something about her, but IMO that is unlikely if you don't know each other well.
