Amen followjesus.....The free gift is mercy and forgiveness for past sins, and grace is the empowerment of the Spirit..
The parable of the king’s debtor, The debtor received the free gift of mercy, but did not exercise/yield to the influencing power of the Spirit (grace) and extend the same mercy he had received from the king. Therefore he insulted the Spirit of grace and received it in vain..

The keys to the kingdom are forgiveness and obedience..mercy and grace

Grace is the empowerment of the Spirit to live godly lives.....I can do all things in Christ Jesus...
AMEN TO THAT !!! we can repent because of Christ, we can pick up our own cross because of the strength of He who is in us, we can overcome the adictions, the behaviors, we couldnt before Him, Now tho we are capable of walking as He walked, we are capable of so much. we are promised that He will answer our prayers, Let us pray for righteousness, power over temptation, all we need to live as He has tolsd us has already been given, it is whether or not we love sin, or Jesus. we have a choice now, we have the truth to fix the deception oin the world we just have to believe the One ordained of God to bring salvation and get away from the idea that everything He says about our part in this doesnt apply anymore.

if you actually read paul very much he says " follow my example as i follow Christ" and he says i strive for what is ahead, i dont consider that i am perfect, but i press foreward." he says " consistantly how he was always fighting himself, beating his body and making it subject to him. He exhirts and corrects He makes clear the danger of our actions, He makes sure we cant misunderstand Him be rich in good deeds, serve the Lord, Know His will that is our sanctification, depart from iniquity on and on paul is not different than the others He is saying you are new creations created for the purpose of doing good works on and on he is never saying dont acknoiwledge your sins , or dont feel guilty when you sin, hes saying the same things as Jesus peter john the prophets. we have been already given all we need to follow the Lord and when we mess up, still he is there to forgive us and restore us through real repentance through forgiving the ones who offend us.

2peter1:According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins."

this is who we are now were plenty able it is a matter of where our heart is with the Lord who deserves it given His suffering for us, or with our own lusts and desires.

Spot on guys. I'm so glad to see others that are boldly walking in the truth, the Holy Spirit is what literally makes us live Holy. Anybody that says its impossible to be Holy needs to crucify the flesh through the Spirit like Paul says in Galatians 5:24. Romans 8:13 tells us we will surely dieif we don't kill the evil deeds of the body through the Spirit as well.

I'd say one of the greatest scriptures proving the fact that when Gods people (us) absolutely will walk perfectly in Gods statutes and ways here on earth right now is Ezekiel 36:27..

"And I will put My spirit within you,
and cause you to walk in My statutes,
and you shall keep My judgements and do them."

amen. the first step for alot of people who refuse to accept His word of truth is to understand His Word is the everlasting Word of God that nothing will ever omit or change. whatever Jesus says is Our Way. Because He is the testator of the new covenant, He is not a scapegoat for us to live guilt free. if you believe what Jesus did for us, there is no possiblity to argue when He says " forgive and you will be forgiven" its time the church commit to Loving Jesus in return because the world is looking mighty ripe at the moment.

anyone who truly Loves Jesus, will believe Him first if that is the case His Word will lead to rightouesness. and some would say " oh your self righteous if you think you need to do anything its all already done" But without His word, we would have nothing therefore salvation is by Jesus. its Just not all " the finished work of the cross" that is a doctrine invented of the world in order to omit the truth.

The truth is exactly what Jesus Christ defines in the 4 gospels. That is our home as believers, that is the terms of the new covenant, it is not the "covenant of grace" Jesus is Grace and truth, the truth is necassary to bring to repentance, its by Jesus for certain, its by His word, and His actions. He says himself His word is God doing His work.

john 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

when grace is defined as everything the word of truth that saves us is then ommited because that word doesnt teach unconditional salvation and grace alone does. were warned by peter about pauls letters for a reason. paul uses many words so if you pluck a verse out of his writings it can easily be distorted to omit the truth. we have to go by Jesus word on everything. Because he is the mediator between God and man, the words of the mediator define an agreement that brings to sperated parties together.

Jesus words are spirit and Life, they are salvation and in truth it is where grace is found. what better picture of Gods grace and truth " neither do i condemn you, now go and sin no more." that woman was as good as dead according to the Law, its a command of God that she and also the missing male be put to death according to the law. Jesus forgave and instructed Her just like he does us.

this is why i have been writing posts about the law not being what Jesus spoke. because when you tie the gospel in with the law, then you see " your dead to the law" that omits Jesus word of truth and that part is essential for salvation.

crucifying the flesh.... "if anyone would come after me he must deny himself pick up his cross and follow me"

everything paul taught is based on what Jesus taught, i wish with all my heart christians would accept His words because it would bring life to the church that is sorely missing in my view.

you know all the warnings that sound so harsh are for us, for our safety. sin is like playing with fire. its like if you found a 9 year old playing with a lighter and covered with flamable liquid. Of course you love the kid, but you dont just walk away and leave them with the matches. you are going to sternly warn them, correct them not because your a bad guy, but because you love them and want them to not get all burned up.

Hell is a real place and sin will lead to that place in the end. God knows that and is warning us, stop what you are doing, you will surely die..... turn to me and i will give you freedom. A good Father will always correct thier children you dont hate your kid because they mess up, but if they are doing something dangerous you arent going to say " ahh your my favorite you could never do wrong i love ya buddy"...Of course you are going to tell them repent of what you are doing. repentance and the commandments are FOR us,,,,, If we accept and follow the lord, were home free and its infallably true

So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. [SUP]43 [/SUP]Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. [SUP]44 [/SUP]On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. [SUP]45 [/SUP]But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. [SUP]46 [/SUP]Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. [SUP]47 [/SUP]For so the Lord has commanded us:

‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

[SUP]48 [/SUP]Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.
[SUP]49 [/SUP]And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. [SUP]50 [/SUP]But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. [SUP]51 [/SUP]But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. [SUP]52 [/SUP]And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:42-52

Read all of 13th chapter, Paul did still go to Temple on Sabbath, and preached to the gentiles about Jesus, since the jews decided to leave. The gentiles begged for Paul to come back the next Sabbath to preach the words Paul preached. Peaceful Sabbath all.

you seem to have no understanding of the difference between willful rebellion and sins of ignorance..the day of atonement was not for willful vile sins of the flesh, those people were already dead, it was for mistakes and sins of ignorance
This "willful and not willful" differentiating of sin is complete nonsense. We are responsible for our sins ... period. The law was given to make us aware of our sin and lead us to the cross of Christ. Is the law failing in it's task ?

Study the text, a person is only accountable to what they have knowledge of..and to whomsooever much is given much is required.....Jesus said the Pharesitcal Jews were guilty of the greater sin...There are sins of ignorance, mistakes in judgement because none is perfect in knowledge, human flaws do to being made subject to vanity for our own good by the Almighty's great wisdom for which their is chastisement and are dispensed of through the Lords prayer, and there is vile sins of the flesh which are death and Paul said would disqualify one from the kingdom...examples of these are seen in John epistles and in the very first chapter of Luke...The day of atonement in the old testament was only for sins of ignorance, the wilful rebellious were not around for the day of atonement..

paul preached the gospel as well, theres no difference. paul preached

acts 20:20-21 "And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

acts 26:20-23 "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, AND DO WORKS MEET FOR REPENTANCE. 21For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. 22Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, SAYOING NONE OTHER THINGS than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: 23That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should SHEW LIGHT unto the people, and to the Gentiles.>

the temple was destroyed in ad 67-70 during the siege of jerusalem, not one stone was left Just as Jesus predicted. the temple was set on fire and the gold melted between the stones, the romans literraly removed every stone to take the gold.

Jesus body id Gods temple, and we are the temple because we are part of His body. Paul never taught unconditional salvation. he was preaching Jesus death and resurrection just like the prophets and Jesus also taught, because to a believer it is proof that Jesus is the Christ promised by Moses and the prophets, the One God would send with the covenant. paul never strayed from the principles of the Gospel. He uses different words saying the same things. He taught grace Because Jesus did, He taught repentance because Jesus did, He taught following the spirit, because Jesus did. on and on. Jesus taught " pick up your cross and follow me, paul taught you must crucify the flesh. Jesus taught brotherly Love, paul taught brotherly Love, Jesus taught give to the poor, paul taught give to the poor, Jesus taught freedom from sin, Paul taught freedom from sin. the message is no different. the epistles were sent after the churches were established as corrections in the churches belief and behaviors. the churches were established on the gospel, which paul along with the rest were commissioned to take to the ends of the earth.

I would like to take up the question of the Sabbath, since we are talking of commandments and examples we should follow !
Surely anyone 'walking with Jesus' would go where HE goes....and also Paul who followed Jesus !
The sabbath question usually arouses much disagreement and argument among Christians so I do not mention it much....but it is something Christians will have to come to grips with if they want to be obedient to the Will of God with whom they hope to spend Eternity.

Do you mean what day the Sabbath is? Or what we should do (or not do) on the Sabbath?

I've spent more time thinking about the Sabbath the last couple of years. Since I'm a protestant I worship on Sunday. Although I do think Saturday would be more correct for the Sabbath. But it would be hard for little ole me to change the day we celebrate the Sabbath. As for churches that celebrate on Saturday (like SDA), I think I fit in better at the church I attend than I would there. But I have been better about keeping the Sabbath lately. I try not to do work stuff on Sunday, and instead try to attend church and then do family oriented activities. So there's that. lol

Hi, I was actually replying to a post which mentions Acts13 and the assembling on the Sabbath day.
Because of arguing and disagreements then it never took hold in Christians and so they went their own way....establishing sunday. But not having the background or knowledge of the OT and the God of the Bible 'Christians as newcomers ' did not know they could not 'manipulate God and His commandment to keep the ''Sabbath Day holy''. Man can not set up a holy day for himself !
The result of this is a ''divided, self-opinionated following, evident by the many christian denominations that can not agree among themselves...hence the need to start their own church. That is not GOD's way !!!
I could answer your questions in more detail but it might help to get an 'overview first...
which is, do we want to obey God or do we want to do what seems best for us ?

If you want to be obedient to the will of God enter into the rest that He has provided for you in Christ Jesus.

titus 1:16 "They PROFESS that they know God; but IN WORKS THEY DENY HIM, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every GOOD WORK REPROBATE."

Titus 2:11-14 "For the GRACE OF GOD that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, TEACHING US that, DENYING UNGODLINESS and WORLDLY LUSTS, we should live SOBERLY, RIGHTEOUSLY, and GODLY, IN THIS PRESENT WORLD; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; WHO GAVE HIMSELF FOR US, THAT HE MIGHT REDEEM US FROM ALL INIQUITY, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of GOOD WORKS."

Titus 3:8 "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou AFFIRM CONSTANTLY, that THEY WICH HAVE BELIEVED IN GOD MIGHT BE CAREFUL TO MANTAIN GOOD WORKS. These things are good and profitable unto men."

a consistant part of pauls ministry that many people deny, or insist " thats not really what hes saying" Pauls ministry wasnt different in principles such as repentance of sin , what paul often refers to as " Works of the flesh" and we Know He is talking about sinful actions and attitudes because of scripture in His letters like this

Galatians 5:19-21 "Now THE WORKS OF THE FLESH ARE MANIFEST, which are THESE; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. "

This really is not even debatable if a person accepts the scripture, certainly this is not all of pauls doctrine, but makes very clear things many deny. that those who continue on in sinful lives, doing these types of things, will not inherit the Kingdom of God, and when paul is saying " works of the flesh" He is absolutely talking about our conduct.

romans 16 :25-26 "Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the SCRIPTURES OF THE PROPHETS, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, MADE KNOWN TO ALL NATIONS FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FAITH"

The reason The gospel was given to all nations, is to bring them into obedience, not to exclude believers from Obedience and accountability. That idea is not from God. What we do, matters greatly In Christ.
May I ask you who are the vessels unto dishonor in His House in 2 Timothy 2:18-21 ?

2 Timothy 2:[SUP]18 [/SUP]Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.[SUP]19 [/SUP]Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.[SUP]20 [/SUP]But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.[SUP]21 [/SUP]If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Seeing how those who depart from iniquity shall be received as vessels unto honor in His House when the Bridegroom comes, this would testify that those who have His seal, even former believers, that did not depart from iniquity are still In His House but are at risk of being left behind as vessels unto dishonor unless they depart from iniquity before the Bridegroom comes.

So any iniquity that denies Him, He will deny them; but even if they do not believe any more, He still abides which is why they shall be received as vessels unto dishonor in His House when they are resurrected after the great tribulation.

This is why His disciples are to disciple other believers in trusting Jesus Christ as their Good Shepherd & not just as their Savior so as to learn of Him & His words that He will help them to follow Him for He is in them and with them always so that they may receive that eternal glory that comes with their salvation at the pre tribulational rapture event.

2 Timothy 2:[SUP]10 [/SUP]Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.[SUP]11 [/SUP]It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:[SUP]12 [/SUP]If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:[SUP]13 [/SUP]If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

So there is a race to be run, and the consequence of not running it by faith in Jesus Christ as looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin as He will finish His work in us to His glory & our praise of Him, is not just about losing the rewards of crowns, but to avoid becoming a castaway by the Bridegroom when He comes.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,[SUP]2 [/SUP]Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Corinthians 9:[SUP]24 [/SUP]Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.[SUP]25 [/SUP]And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.[SUP]26 [/SUP]I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:[SUP]27 [/SUP]But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

So easy believism is the key; We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior that we are saved simply by believing in Him, and we are exhorted to believe in Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd that HE will help us to follow Him by believing in Him.

That is all little children can do and they are free to come to Him to be saved. And unless we become as a child, we shall in no wise enter therein. So childlike trust in Him & His words by living by faith in Him is the only way to please God. That is the only obedience required of any believer as trust is the basis of all relationships as all our confidence is in the Lord.

Those left behind cannot inherit the Kingdom of Heaven where they have a place in the city of God that will come down to earth as New Jerusalem, where they cannot be like the angels that can never die nor marry again, but they will be resurrected after the great tribulation where the power of the second death will have no hold over them as they exists to serve the King of kings as placed all over the world in raising up the coming generations in the milleniel reign of Christ.

This is why they are called vessels unto dishonor in His House as they did not depart from iniquity, but they shall serve as a testament of the power of God in salvation for even those who just believe in His name. God will have to wipe the tears from their eyes after the great tribulation to get them past their loss of that eternal glory that comes with our salvation of being that vessel unto honor in His House, but God will put a new song on their lips to praise Him for as Jesus did not lose none of all the Father has given Him because He is the Good Shepherd and He will finish His work even in those left behind.

But for believers & former believers reading this that wish to avoid the weeping and gnashing of teeth, in being left behind, they should go before that throne of grace for help from Jesus Christ in getting them ready to go by helping them to discern good & evil by the King James Bible that exposes ALL the works of iniquity so they can turn to Him for help in departing from all works of iniquity to be ready to go by Him to be received by the Bridegroom when He comes. Amen

Very True followjesus.....I might add that the penal substitution gospel was created during the reformation building upon Thomas Aquinas satisfaction atonement theory...Luther, Calvin and others invented the magical transfer all the while not understanding that virtue is NEVER transferred anywhere in the entire bible....It has blinded many for 500 years.. High level freemason Billy Graham perfected the lie in the mid 20th century and has deceived 100s of millions. It was designed to promise them liberty while still in your sins...Its is very blatant in Martin Luther's own writings...I will post some of his quotes when I get back to my other computer notes....Most will be amazed at what he actually believed about sin...

The TRUTH of conditional covenant theology is all but forgotten for magic transfers and covers......Knowing this first; there is NO payment for sin, a debt paid for can in no wise be forgiven......In truth Jesus was our propitiation (mercy seat of God) for our sin, thus purchasing our souls at Calvary....Big difference......

The satisfaction atonement theory is heresy, what really took place at Calvary is that Jesus justified God's mercy that He always wanted to extend to everyone.....He NEVER in any way satisfied God's wrath, that is a lie from the pit of hell, but rather He suffered at the hands of wicked men, therefore the wrath of God still abides on the children of disobedience.....Jesus in no way was a son of disobedience but rather a sweet smelling VOLUNTARY sacrifice to God the Father ON our behalf....

The rest you seek is found only in Christ Jesus Himself, not in a day of the week.
I agree, but the Sabbath day given by God is a start, seeing Jesus also observed it. I like to start from the right foundation....which is also important to God.
