My church is moving to a movie theatre soon :( The seats may be great and all, and the whole experience might be wonderful. I simply use the unhappy smiley face because we are leaving behind a wonderful location with a beautiful view... movie theatres don't have windows, but I guess people should not be watching the birds in the trees, or the ducks in the pond, and the dog walkers and cyclists making their rounds on the beach side paths while pastor is preaching :D Also, we will not have to put the chairs away every week :) That is a definite plus :)

My wife and I will be seeing this movie on Monday. I read the book a couple years ago and found it to be a good read, hopefully the movie is as good or better.

The Regal at Largo Mall was $8.10 for seniors at the matinee, and they have reclining seats.

We seldom go to many other theaters (because we love the lay-back seats) and we pass right by Culver's at Lake Seminole on the way home, so we always chow-down there. Love that custard! The butterfly shrimp, too.

Just to add: The trailer sets the scene, but it falls woefully short of showing the powerful story plot.

Is there a Demonic Spirit related to the movie The Shack? The answer is YES!

I read the book several years ago and wept so hard. It made me angry, then broke my heart. Then watching the movie tonight with my wife Angie Dawkins, all those emotions were stirred once again. This story is really about the author's horrific struggle with the Lord after suffering sexual abuse as a missionary's kid. This deep wound is depicted in the story with a horrific tragedy in a family.

None ...of the depictions of God are Caucasian (loved it!) And portrays God in both male and female form (loved that too). This movie is so powerful and I felt the presence of the Lord so strong at various points of it. And felt the theology to be very sound.

So what of the demonic I mentioned, you ask? I believe there is a demonic assignment against this book and movie. It's both by a Religious Spirit and a spirit that incites Prejudice. These Demonic spirits are trying to block people from experiencing healing and freedom from a critical spirit.

I highly recommend you take every atheist, spiritually wounded, orphan-spirited person you know to this movie and then have a "sit down" with them afterwards to process it.

It sets us up to bring many people to Christ...
 
The previews that play on TV have intrigued me. I'll most likely end up watching this movie when it gets released on DVD. One of the small advantages my ignorance about religion has is that I can watch movies like this without prejudice.

The devil of Prejudice will cripple many thousands of people when it comes to this movie.
 
This movie does leave you wondering just how many limitations we place upon the creator of all things, and how many boxes we insist that such a creator stay locked inside of.
 
I'm taking exception to the painting of those who disagree with the concepts in this movie/book as demonic

That sounds like a witch hunt to me and before conclusions are reached regarding that statement, I have not read the book nor seen the movie so I am not actually commenting on it per se. I did look up the author and found that the crisis in his life came when his wife caught him in an adulterous affair with one of her best friends.

Apparently, all the deeply buried denials came out after that fact.

I did also read about the author's sexual abuse but not at the hands of his parents but the school where he went I think it was the age of 6

I find stating that those who are against the movie to have an agenda that springs from demonic influence to be very unfair and perhaps even prejudiced.

It shuts people down because who wants to be labelled demonic? It shuts down what might be legitimate questions or concerns for the same reasons and others as well as no one wants to stand out and be called prejudiced or demonic or ignorant or accused of putting God in a box

So, I'm questioning the reason for labeling those who do not like the movie or book as demonic. That's pretty strong language and I don't know who Robby Dawkins is or why I should believe this thought that there is demonic collusion to form a movement against the movie

The little I do know about the movie, it would seem it is going to cause reactions of one sort or another and I do not think it wise or fair to label one side as demonic or close minded

I think people should choose their words with more care and understanding that they are calling Christians demonic and I have noticed that there is far too much of that sort of name calling with no thought of the consequences

Rather than jumping to the conclusion that individuals are being attacked as "Demonic", may I suggest you read the FB post again? Robby said nothing of the sort. He said Demonic opposition would be attacking this endeavor. (That is a spiritual move against the message of the film, not human comments.)

I completely agree. THis is a wonderful story of redemption and connection. Black and white thinking Christians go bananas over this story. They need to understand the importance of symbolism. The bible is FULL of symbolism that doesn't make sense and isn't intended to be taken literally. This is a novel, based on a man's experience. Like the Narnia and the Left Behind series of books, the author takes artistic license in bringing us the story.

YES!!!!!! Our God is so much bigger than we give Him credit for sometimes.
 
I have to say that I can see the resistance demonstrated by 7-C's post. The comments she selected had nothing to do with the story of the book, as anyone will see if they take a few minutes to read the link I posted. But they were implied to discredit the film's validity.

Such a reply saddens me, but it does point out what Robby mentioned about how there will be influences that are going to lead to a true fight against this film.

I honestly think you may have my post upside down

I made no judgement on the book, move or author. I read his own words so I was not getting information off a site that made negative comments

are you so fragile that someone cannot question why you said what you did regarding demonic?

honestly, I think your response has more to do with your defensiveness of your personal ideas than it has to do with anything I posted

you have no idea whatsoever of what I believe or whether or not I might agree with the movie should I see it

this appears to be very important to you so relax, there are plenty of other people I can talk to about it and then form my own opinion
