probably a good idea Jian , not that there is anything wrong with it *otherwise its called legalism* so many ppl do judge by appearances which IS wrong . no need to set yourself up for ridicule from 'the religious'

True...
and I guess you don't want to be mainstream, either...

Take care

I've just noticed that so many young people get em now & i notice it when young people dont have one (visible anyway). Personally I dont want one but thats just my own choice for my own self... I have friends who have them and there is some beautiful work out there... i considered it once thought i'd get a bunny riding a harley with a jesus fish on its arm... it would be too big though (my father in law used to call me bunny). Also, I'm going to be onea them old bubu grammas who makes pierogies and has hardly any lap left to sit on so I dont think it'll match the person I plan on being in the near future. :p Mossy.

Okay so I am not trying to persuade you, or anything, just trying to follow your reasoning.

Do you think that any motivation to get one: eg, to communicate faith, etc., is a bad motivation?

i like it but i feel its not gud to put it..

The tats I have are all personal. They represent a certian time in my life. I still would like another one. They do not define who I am as a person or as a Christian.

Cookie: So they're not specifically faith-related in their designs, and the one you are planning isn't specifically faith-related either?

Take care.

No, my tats are personal. To be honest, I have never thought about putting a faith based tat on my body. You know when I came back to God a few years back, I was afraid that people would judge me for my tats. Then God spoke to me and said there is nothing wrong with you. Mine are very descrete and some people are still shock if they get a glimpes of one, that I have them. I am a minster, and I guess they don't see the new me as ever having been the old me. They are me, I choose mine as a reflection of me. It was not whim, I specificly pick the 4 I have for a reason.

There are both good as well as bad motivations. Well, its very good to have a motivation to communicate faith. Because it accelerates us to choose the better or the right path in our life. But we already know the right path which has been laid in front of us.

Jian: So mean it's never appropriate to have a faith related tattoo, period?

Take care

AMEN to that noahsmom!!! im sorry but the same God who saved me loves me no matter what ... he loves me AND my tattoos... my Gods not dead... plain and simple... end of story... all of my tattoo's mean something incredibly significant to me! i am compleatly for getting tattoo's am i saying that everyone should have one ... no im not but what i AM saying is that if u want one go for it...As long as u know before hand what your getting... and it's not something rediculas then fine... all of my tattoo's have something to do with christ.. and my relationship with him.. or about my walk as a christian.. right now i have 4 tattoo's and plan on getting more... im sorry but i can't believe that the same God who raised christ from the dead... put the stars in the sky... and knows every hair on my head would turn me away because of something i put on my body that edifiys christ.....if u disagree then fine but this is my opnion... and im sticking to it...<3

farouk,
i think tatoo has nothing to do with faith. i want to ask one thing.. do u have faith in tatoo or the thing that u mean a tatoo that signifies ur belief? i see that if u started using a thing like "faith relating tatoo", then u r diverting urself more important to tatoo than the thing u follow. hope u got my point.. thanks
