I can assure you that I know my failings. I walk with them every day and I hate them with a passion.
I resolve every day not to fail.

Your quote about footballers is not fully true. They will still get a yellow card. Whether they actually did something to warrant it or not. Having played a fairly high level of football I know the tricks of the trade as such.

Whilst talking about football how many yellow cards does God give before you get the red card?

I do get what you are saying trying to be like him is not sinnles perfection and it's reality.
I want to be like him and that's my reality, but sometimes I feel, others say "You've has too many yellow cards now here is the red and your no longer part of the game"

In football when you get a red card you suffer punishment but after that your free to rejoin the game.
If God shows the red card it's a form a him chastising us in order to teach us and bring us back into the game.
Personaly mate i think football should adapt a sin bin policy like ice hockey,,, where you go to the sin bin for ten mins :)

I did did think about that as I was posting. Wasn't sure how to put it in a spritual sense.

I suppose in a real example it could be "Now go sit on the stairs and think about what you just did that is wrong"

Oh great so lets use urine to prove your holy doctrin of impurity.. couldnt you have thought of a better enlightenment than piss.:(

I think theres better ways to correct someone who is striving to be like Jesus my friend..
what does the truth hurt? WHat do you think God thinks of any sin?

I learned along time ago sometimes you have to use things like that so people can see reality. Because talking to the mind trying not t6o fend them does not work.

That's ok. Keep on thinking your sin is ok. And not that bad..

I will keep on understanding my righteousness is as menstral rags, and my sin is like urine.

So I do not give God as cup of weather thinking it is pure (like the purists in here) and fall on my knees like the tax collector.

Purity is not about self sacrifice. That is about love.

Now in the end of this, what is your response to Gods call to purity. "I think you are a liar."

Do you know the point I am making? Obviously what you are saying is only those who are
pure can say God calls us to be pure. Can you know whether you are something that you
lack something that you do not have, impurity? I think maybe you know the issues do not
arise. Now it would not be helpful for me to list all the impurities I could have and then say
how and why I am not impure like this.

So the question I ask is not where anyone is along this path but whether God is calling us
to walk this path. I think the answer is becoming clear. God is being sarcastic, and saying
be pure as a joke on failure. But this interpretation only works if nobody ever walks in purity.

Let us take the list Jesus gives us as lusts of the flesh.

"Evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person."
Mark 7:21-22

Let me ask in all honesty, is it so hard to avoid these things when you know the
cross and Christ? Are we saying everyone who is saying they are not pure are
inescapably locked into these evil thoughts, with no hope of stopping?

Now that is shocking, because to me, these are not impossible boundaries or even
stunning revelations.

But here is Sirk saying I need witnesses to say I am not any of these things.
This speaks more about the failure within and lack of seeing what we are as people
and children of God than anything else.

Paul was simple about his descriptions. Avoid these things. This is 101 discipleship,
it is something you learn day 1. Who have you been following and what is in your heart?

And what is evil thought? That we can walk in purity. This is the opposite of evil, it is
the fulfillment of the cross.
I read the first line In your post and go....what? This guy is making stuff up as he goes along. Trying to hold onto the doctrines of men.

Where do you get that? If a man confesses with his lips and believes in his heart that jesus died in the cross and rose from the dead and conquered sin and death and endeavors to make Jesus the Lord of his life he is made pure before God thru the blood of Jesus. It's not rocket science. You keep adding and adding and adding and adding.

The hard cold reality is that if there is no room for improvement in you, you've stopped growing. Is there room for improvement in you? Careful how you answer that question if you dare. There are few on this thread who will pass right by this post.

I think that there is room for improvement in everyone, but only IF they're brave enough to admit it.. :)

What people like peter do not understand, even if you have a cup filled 99% of pure filtered perfect water, and take the 1 percent and fill it with urine
Lol. Yes I am sinner saved by grace, amen. The Lord has shown us the way.
EG and this way of approaching everything is to find an interpretation where
following Christ is self justication, and accepting Christ as the only role of acceptance
is valid faith or true belief.

The trouble is God calls us to be pure through the washing of His blood and
walking in the Spirit. Paul implies this is a choice, to walk in the flesh, or the lusts
of the flesh or to walk after the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture is very plain.

If scripture was plain you wouldn't be so confused apparently. Lol... if scripture was plain it would be more difficult for you to twist it to puff yourself up.

This version of faith is the version that says we are not actually pure, it is Christs
blood that is pure.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
1 John 1:7

John is proclaiming by being open and honest about sin and righteousness, walking in
righteousness, we are purified from all sin. The dependency is on our walk in the light.

This is a condition on action not just faith. Now I know you guys will reject this out of
hand because truth is not important or scripture only your presuppositions and changing
the meaning of things to fit it.

Ofcourse it is discouraging to see how people do this all the time. What I have learnt
over many years you never know the size of the impact of the word of the Lord, because
it is only our task to testify to it.

The logic of the verse is if you fail to find purity in your heart, maybe you are not walking
in the light with God, and so the benefits are not working out in your heart.

In a way this verse is a promise. Do not concentrate of purification of the heart, rather
being open and honest about your state and the walk with Christ, and the rest will sort
itself out. Certainly, not dwelling on the things of the flesh but on the things of the Spirit
bring life to ones soul.

So are you saying that that there is no room for improvement in you? That you have arrived? It's a simple yes or no question. Can you answer it honestly and without deflection?
