I'll never forget the dating profile I ran across several years ago on a Christian dating site. It was of a man (in his early 30's) who said that "God made men visual", and therefore, the only women he would answer were ones who had backgrounds in "dance, gymnastics, or cheerleading" and were "slim, fit, and had a good figure."

Um. Ok.

This man was at least 50 pounds overweight, and had a very visible, protruding double chin. I guess he should be given credit for at least using an "honest" picture?

Now, I'm certainly not saying in any way against being overweight (after all, most of us are.) However, I can't say the same about his literal double standard.

I wanted to message him and ask, "If God made men visual... Does that mean you think He made women blind?"
I think a lot of men believe that women's vision becomes more cloudy in proportion with how much money the man makes, the richer he is- the more blind she becomes. Which may be true of mercenary women, but not Christians. I believe Christian women are more interested in romantic love than in materialism.

36 years down and 9 to go.
I'm ten years past my due date- who knew? I had no idea, I thought I was hitting my prime. We are all time's slaves, after all. Be careful not to let 44 creep up on you without being married.

You heard it here, folks. According to Adstar, women after 27 can go sit down and men after 45 can go sit down.
What do you suppose will happen if they all sit together?

I thought that too, when I was 18, and 27 was staring me down the barrel. I frittered away my good years, and am ready for the rocking chair, now.

Not much. I suppose their rocking chairs would squeak in harmony- after all, this attraction thing is all behind them now.

According to Adstar, you and I are past our expiration dates, my dear. Where is my senior citizens' discount? I'm over 27 and on the decline.

No, that was Adstar's age limit. Last time I checked, women who have not yet gone through menopause are still fertile. Biology 101.

You are hilarious :D I think a lot of women maintain quite good looks until at least menopause :) However, we do live in quite an ageist society :(:p Our idea of what looks good is quite slanted too, by other influences. I am really reminded of this when I see pictures of Elvis, especially. Oh! How we thought he had really let himself go because he gained some weight! And yet to look at him now, as dead and gone as he is (God rest his soul) he really does not look that bad with a bit of weight on him. He certainly was not gross. Perspective was lost because he was such an idol and seen for his skinny good looks which changed.

I heard there is some crazy stuff going on at retirement homes. Just because they aren't the first round draft picks doesn't mean they retire from the sport.

Elvis ALWAYS looked good in my personal opinion. :) I consider him to be the best looking man to ever live. I think he looks good in his older pictures, too. I don't care for his jumpsuits, but he was still a very good looking man.

The basic reason why most men seek out a wife and a long term relationship is to have a family... This is basic 101 kind of information..

Woman who are young and fertile have the best chance to successfully bring a pregnancy to term and have a healthy baby.. This also is basic undeniable information..

Men have an inbuilt ability to know if a woman is young and firtile and thus men will always try to establish a relationship with that kind of woman.. Because deep down the vast majority of men want to be dads and establish a family..

Now woman instinctively know this and so they spend so much time and effort making themselves look young in the hope it will make them look more fertile and thus attractive.. Of course men can see though most of this deception.. Men know what a young fertile woman looks like.. No amount of pasting on make up and skin products and pretty clothing will fool a man into thinking that an older infertile woman is young and fertile.. So for a lot of woman all that extreme effort is a waste of time.. In fact if a woman is trying too hard it send a signal to men that she is infertile..

Now some men are not looking for a mother of their children.. For what ever reason some give up on having a family or have already had Children so they are more accepting of older woman to form a relationship.. But they are less in number then the men who still want to be dads..

So for woman who want a man as a husband the key is to get the best man you can when you are young and fertile.. That's when you are going to be at your best in attractiveness to most men.. If a woman wants a man she should have one by the time she is 27 because from that moment on her youth and fertility will begin to decline and so will her options in men.. If she waits till her mid to late 30's then her options will be drastically reduced..

Most men who want to be dads see a mid 30's woman to be a high risk candidate for starting a family with.. So most men of any quality will look past the mid 30 woman and will be looking for a woman in her 20's.. Unless of course he does not want kids.. Sadly many woman in their mid 30's are seeking a husband because they know their biological clock is ticking and they need to find a husband to obtain a dad for the baby they are seeking to have.. So their desire to find a dad for their kids is at it's highest when their chances of finding a dad for their kids has drastically declined..

So many of these woman get into relationships with men who will not commit.. And are put into distress and when they push the matter the men break off the relationship and move on.. Because the man does not want to try to have a family with that woman..

I know this is probably hard reading for some.. But it is the real world situation and woman should realize that and younger woman should be made aware of this situation and factor this into their plans accordingly..
For those who were wondering where Galatea and I were getting the "27" from...

I know Adstar probably meant well, but every situation is different and some of us might, just might, have a longer shelf life than 27 (especially if God has anything to do with it.)

Now, I do agree that no man who wants to start cranking out babies is going to come knocking out my door. But I have no desire to start a family in my mid-40's and, as God designed it, men get older, too.

I had stated this earlier, but in my experience on the dating scene, most of the men I've met in my age range already have children from previous relationships and are paying out the nose for them--having more children (aka, being attracted to a woman's "fertility")--is definitely not a priority for them.

I will say that I do think there are two very prevalent social "beliefs" about men and women today: Men are after good looks and youth (if it involves the good looks), and women are after money.

As Christians, maybe there is hope that we can be the exceptions...?

Be careful not to rock on your cats' tails as you sit down and knit.

I can't take up knitting.

It would interfere with Bingo night, and obviously, I would need both hands free to work the chips on all those cards.

I'm just waiting to hear "I (as in Invalid) - 27!", baby, and it's going to be WINNER TAKES ALL!!!

Muhahaha!

Heh, you were not even born then :D I was trying to do the math but instead of taxing my brain that way, I only need to remember that Elvis died just days before I came out west, and that was forty years ago this August :)
