I know a girl, that is very proud of being a virgin. Of course to be without sex is a good thing before marriage. But talking a bit further, it turns out she has had oral sex several times. But that doesn't count, does it? Of course it does! Did she protect herself? No. Because it is only westerners that have STD.... The girl is from an middle eastern country. She stated that that is something everyone does. And it is not sex!

The logic here is to protect the sacred virginity, with having any other sexual activity that doesn't involve intercourse. This is such bigotry, and I wonder if this is also spreading to young Christians in Europe and the Americas. If so, how should we address it? I will print out some info about STDs for a starter... let's see if it helps.
 
While this girl may still be a virgin by the letter she is not a virgin by the spirit. She is definitely damaged goods.
 
I'm a bit fuzzy about the intent of this thread. Is there a question here? Or is this to warn people about hedging technicalities when dealing with sexual immorality?

Either way, I'm reminded of a safe sex skit they did in (I think) Britain that was trying to reduce the number of teen pregnancies by promoting anal sex. I believe their tagline was "One up the bum and it's no harm done / One up the bum and you won't be a mum." :rolleyes:

Well as far as America intercourse and oral sex is wide spread. There's not alot to do to combat it because the media influences sex on a regular basis. The best thing you can do is instill the right moral values in children at an early age and prepare them for what they will face in the world.

I guess I am just doing some head shaking again... I guess I try to ask if this is something also Christian young people do in the States as well as in Europe, to be able to say they are still a virgin. And how should we address it.... (I see your frustration.... I can always say that I am not a native English speaker, so my thoughts get a bit fuzzy in translation.... ;-) )

Actual sex is pretty common among Christians anymore, in the US. You're shaking your head at this girl while here Christians are having sex commonly and umflinchingly.
And while not physical in nature, over the years, countless people (reputable site regulars) have been banned from CC for using it for cyber sex. A few years back almost all if the primary chatters in the chat room were banned because they were all engaging in sexual chat from the site (not in chat rooms of course).
Here sexuality and Christians are common.
 
So it seems the difference between backsliding & apostasy has become a very fine line when "christians" commit premeditated fornication & adultery at will, as if it's not a sin.
 
One such premeditated sin never stays to itself.

I wonder, for instance, how many fornicators are also "sipping saints"?

How many "adultering christians" bar hop?

How many "fornicating christians" are unequally yoking all the time?

How many cuss?

How many dress & talk profanely to attract the opposite sex?

You see, the list goes on & on..... that's the point.

Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, & cost you more than you want to pay.

The whole point of being a virgin is to be clean and pure. STDs are a punishment for having more than one sex partner. And this comes about by germs. It doesn't matter how it got in her body. That's like if an Old Testament Israelite was able to blend and inject pig into his blood stream, and said "It's ok because I didn't eat it." It still counts. And I don't care how scientific you get about the timing, the germs are microscopically there, not visable to the naked eye.

But there is more wrong here than having more than one partner- oral sex is perversion. God did not mean it to be that way- He made a key to fit a key hole. There are certain parts of your body that are not meant to touch other certain parts of even your spouse. For example, lips are not to touch where poop comes out. I don't care if you don't see any, microscopically it is unclean. God put a stink in it for a reason- it is not to enter a body after it exits a body. Although it may carry out some nutrients from the body, it's main purpose is to carry out disease from the body. This is why using manure as firtilizer is sinful and spreads disease. Do put your mouth where God did not intend for it to go. God intended sperm to go up the vagina, not down the throat.

Whether it is of a sexual nature or not, doing the opposite of what God intended is perversion. And the Bible says "They will be punished for thier perversion."






On another note, there is something real about 7 years. Still in today's world debt must be forgiven after seven years. The Bible talks about letting land rest before you grow more crops in it. Anyways, if it's been more than seven years since a person has been celibate, they are clean once again- just like a virgin. If no symptoms of STDs have shown up in seven years, they never will. Anyone concidering marrying someone who has biblically divorced or been widowed over seven years ago, should not feel hesitant about making them thier spouse.
 
Oops lol. I reread that but they won't let me edit it. But you know what I mean- celibate for seven years- not seven years since celibate. Lol
 
OneFaith: Hmmm, gotta disagree with some of that. The seven years thing is not supported in the Bible, nor is the proscription against using manure as fertilizer.
 
Also a quick google search reveals that HIV can be symptom free in the body for up to 10 years, so I wouldn't put any stock in the 7 years thing either. But great example of how to misapply the Bible and take things out of context.

As to the OP, yes it's pathetically legalistic and hypocritical to do everything but intercourse and then brag about how you're still a virgin. Anyone not buying into the same legalistic mindset is going to know that you're full of it and it really doesn't matter much, not to God or future spouse. That being said, can we really be too surprised at such behavior when most of our exhortations to purity are "remain a virgin and don't have sex" and we don't develop a bigger picture view of purity that includes the whole person.

Your thoughts are certainly not fuzzy in their translation but rather are well formed and thoughtful.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to protect yourself for oral sex.

And it's mostly former president Clinton's fault because of that time he declared that he did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky.. then it came out that they had oral, but Clinton's argument was that oral is not defined as sex in the bible so it's not sex. Yeah, that was in 1998...
 
Kind of off topic, but I got quite a chuckle out of the whole "virgin again after being celibate 7-years" deal. That's some knee-slapping comedy right there. Not so much because of it...itself, but because I've been celibate for far longer than 7 years and there ain't no way, no how, nosiree that I am considered anywhere near the vicinity of "virgin". Hoo-boy...stop it guys...my sides ache.
 
Its a decision and believe of women.
The way she treat and respect her GOD and her body.
In my opinion if she respect her body, mind and soul, other will respect her. As woman, she must realize her position as the symbol of beauty, not only phisycly but inner beauty.
When she respect her body, she knows what she must to do and how she treats herself.
True Love waits i always aggree that. its always connecting with purity of woman's heart.

The 'Lord' of the vineyard in this parable seems to think it is okay to use manure on a fig tree...

I cannot say that I agree totally with all that you said in post #9; however, I have thought a great deal about certain 'issues' related to what you have touched upon - particularly, the 'moral' implications and the [ chemical ] 'science' behind [ various things along the lines of what you addressed ]. As a result of much thought and consideration regarding these things, I have determined and decided that [ certain specific things, like 'oral' sex ] will be - at most - an 'option' for my future-wife ( and, of course, 'anal' sex is absolutely and totally forbidden "in my book" - even with a spouse ); that, I will not 'push' or 'force' those issues with her; that, I will be "quite happy" to "have her" in the more 'normal' / 'natural' ways -- as long as we are 'inventive' enough to "spice up" those 'normal' / 'natural' ways...

My point is --- I can and do understand where you are coming from on these issues...

And, there [ apparently ] are some very interesting 'conclusions' that have come out of some scientific research based on some of these 'issues'. ;)
