A friend of mine told me that her pastor said that the scriptures Ezekiel 37-39 are coming to pass right now with our attack on Syria and so the rapture will happen any second, When i questioned her if she has done any research into these scriptures for her self to find out if it's true she said she didn't need to because her pastor said so and I was like ................
Sadly there is no reasoning with her so telling her she needs to test all spirits and not blindly believe everything she is told would only upset her however i was curious and so I looked for myself and I admit it is interesting but I need some help understanding if it fits or not.

I apologize for the long post

The Valley of Dry Bones

37 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”
One Nation Under One King

15 The word of the Lord came to me: 16 “Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, ‘Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.’ Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, ‘Belonging to Joseph (that is, to Ephraim) and all the Israelites associated with him.’ 17 Join them together into one stick so that they will become one in your hand.

18 “When your people ask you, ‘Won’t you tell us what you mean by this?’ 19 say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to take the stick of Joseph—which is in Ephraim’s hand—and of the Israelite tribes associated with him, and join it to Judah’s stick. I will make them into a single stick of wood, and they will become one in my hand.’ 20 Hold before their eyes the sticks you have written on 21 and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. 22 I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. 23 They will no longer defile themselves with their idols and vile images or with any of their offenses, for I will save them from all their sinful backsliding, and I will cleanse them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

24 “‘My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees. 25 They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your ancestors lived. They and their children and their children’s children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever. 26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them and increase their numbers, and I will put my sanctuary among them forever. 27 My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. 28 Then the nations will know that I the Lord make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.’”
The Lord’s Great Victory Over the Nations

38 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of[c] Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[d] Meshek and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush[e] and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

7 “‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. 8 After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. 9 You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

10 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. 11 You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. 12 I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land.[f]” 13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages[g] will say to you, “Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?”’

14 “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? 15 You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. 16 You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.

17 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You are the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel. At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them. 18 This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’

39 “Son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[h] Meshek and Tubal. 2 I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north and send you against the mountains of Israel. 3 Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand. 4 On the mountains of Israel you will fall, you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to all kinds of carrion birds and to the wild animals. 5 You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord. 6 I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Lord.

7 “‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel. 8 It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord. This is the day I have spoken of.

9 “‘Then those who live in the towns of Israel will go out and use the weapons for fuel and burn them up—the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, the war clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel. 10 They will not need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests, because they will use the weapons for fuel. And they will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Sovereign Lord.

11 “‘On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, in the valley of those who travel east of the Sea. It will block the way of travelers, because Gog and all his hordes will be buried there. So it will be called the Valley of Hamon Gog.

12 “‘For seven months the Israelites will be burying them in order to cleanse the land. 13 All the people of the land will bury them, and the day I display my glory will be a memorable day for them, declares the Sovereign Lord. 14 People will be continually employed in cleansing the land. They will spread out across the land and, along with others, they will bury any bodies that are lying on the ground.

“‘After the seven months they will carry out a more detailed search. 15 As they go through the land, anyone who sees a human bone will leave a marker beside it until the gravediggers bury it in the Valley of Hamon Gog, 16 near a town called Hamonah.[j] And so they will cleanse the land.’

17 “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Call out to every kind of bird and all the wild animals: ‘Assemble and come together from all around to the sacrifice I am preparing for you, the great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth as if they were rams and lambs, goats and bulls—all of them fattened animals from Bashan. 19 At the sacrifice I am preparing for you, you will eat fat till you are glutted and drink blood till you are drunk. 20 At my table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, mighty men and soldiers of every kind,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.

21 “I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them. 22 From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God. 23 And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their offenses, and I hid my face from them.

25 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob[k] and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. 26 They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Now the prophecy of Israel coming back to their own land happened in 1949 which is what first interested me and making me think it might be possible that my friend was right however the rest is not so easily understood because I don't know where the land of magog is on our global map in this day and age and also there is still much to discuss about this prophecy related to this day and age and so I need help to understand as I know there are many here who have more understanding than I do so any and all understanding of these scriptures would be greatly appreciated

All I know is that we're in the days of Ezekiel as far as the Holy Spirit waking people up and leading them to the Himself seemingly out of thin air.

The only other mention of Gog and Magog in battle is found in Revelation and according to that passage it happens at the end of the Millennium.

I am more concerned with North Korea and what Trump intends to do when the Carrier and task force reach their destination. NK is ruled by a maniac who could start a world war. And yes I know its not in the Bible but then WW2 wasn't either.

However, we should examine the Scriptures to make sure if this is right too. Israel today may not be the Israel of old, it just may be we are reading too much into the text.

those passages deal with the children of Israel in captivity in babylon....the promise that God would bring them back into the land in time for Jesus, which He did exactly.
the valley of dry bones is the Israelites in captivity.

Hi zone! :)
Do you believe those verses were a complete fulfillment? I would be interested to hear what you think about the entire passage.

Already happened:

A comparison between Ezekiel and Corinthians shows that Paul is virtually repeating the prophets words and applying them to the Gentiles:

Ezekiel 37:26-27 I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2 Cor 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

What is significant about Paul's use of Ezekiel here is prior to the above is the regathering of Israel under on stick - bringing the tribes together as one:

Ezek 37:16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:

Ezek 37:17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

Now if what Paul is stating from Ezekiel's prophecy is happening at Corinth in the 1st century AD "they shall be my people" then it must follow that the previous actions were already under way "I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen".

Ezek 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

And this is exactly what we find happening in James' letter:

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

Thus in the 1st century AD we have the 12 tribes being called together to be one "stick" and the Gentiles as "I will be their God, and they shall be my people" in the body of Christ.

Ezekiel 37 is one continuous prophecy of the "resurrection":

Ezek 37:4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

Ezek 37:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

Ezek 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

In Israelite speak or poetic/metaphoric language being separated from God and or the land was to be dead or in the grave.

What Ezekiel is describing is bringing the living diaspora back into fellowship with him from exilic death and their graves - not a bringing up of decomposed bodies out of the ground.

Yes i am aware it already happened to the children of Israel but bible prophecy often times repeats itself, I was told that the prince of persia was syria and that put was russia i'm guessing because of putin but I'm not so sure that right also there is the massive attack on Israel spoken of it in it and yet all who opposed her were destroyed.

Let's say for the topic of discussion that Ezekiel 37-39 is an actual prophecy meant for our generation who would be gog where is magog on our world map and how would the rest of these verse be in our times?

Sorry, it is not Ezek 38,39.... Other Prophecies have to be fulfilled first. You can tell your friend that the Rapture is not dependent on any prophecy. It is Imminent meaning , it can happen at any time.

She thinks that Ezekiel is the ultimate sign that the rapture is near simply because her pastor said so I tried reasoning with her to tell her she cannot just blindly believe anything she has been told and needs to research the truth for herself but sadly she is a very emotional person and if you question with her logic she flips out she never listens to me. I am more interested in seeing if these verse speak of a war in our time or not

No matter which donkey you try to pin the tail on Blain you have to take what it says as being for the last days:

Eze 38:16 and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I am sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog.”

Act 2:17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

Peter said that what was happening to them was in the last days - so to press Ezekiel past those last days is to ignore what Peter said.

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

As the "days" turned into "hours" John declared it was the last hour:

1 Jo 2:18 Little youths, it is the last hour; and even as ye heard that the antichrist doth come, even now antichrists have become many -- whence we know that it is the last hour.

The last days are over.

Ezekiel 37-39,is when God will bring the Jews from out of the nations, and bring them to their land of Israel, which He will bring the whole house of Jacob, all twelve tribes, back to their land,in which He said there will be no more two kingdoms, but one kingdom.

When they are back on their land, and established as Israel again,in the future the world will attack them, which is the battle of Armageddon, for the Gentile nations came together to try to achieve peace on earth, and rebel against the truth, and Israel came to the truth, and the beast kingdom will persecute all people who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior.

When they attack Israel, that is when God said His fury shall come up in His face, and He will put the world down, and save Israel,in which God will spare a 6th of the world that fought against Israel, and the heathen shall know that the Jews went in to captivity for their sins and iniquities against God,so He hid His face from them, but worked again with Israel, and the heathen shall know that God was on Israel's side all along, and after they have borne their shame, then the kingdom on earth will be restored to Israel, which is the millennial reign of Christ.

Acts 3:23) And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Acts 3:24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

We know that the apostate Jews were destroyed in the sack of Judea and Jerusalem who did "not hear that prophet" - Jesus in the war of 66 - 70 AD.

Peter assures his hearers that "Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days."

Ezekiel's prophecies are included in Peter's statement "all the prophets...foretold of these days"

Of course you can ignore these statements and keep pushing your "theology of men".

she said she didn't need to because her pastor said so
That's the same thing the catholikcs do... they just believe what the idolator up front says and doesn't even go to the Lord for themselves. Sad.

I am more concerned with North Korea and what Trump intends to do when the Carrier and task force reach their destination
I wouldn't worry too much about it... NK can hardly fire off rockets without them blowing up at launch half the time and SK is loaded for bear and China isn't going to step in and save them cause NK is a pain in their kester.

China just sent number NK ships back to NK refusing to buy the coal NK was shipping to them.

Trump is fixing to strike a deal with china for them to by American coal which will help China to have a dependency on us which is a bargaining chip we can use against them later.

Israel today may not be the Israel of old, it just may be we are reading too much into the text.
No, that land belongs to God and God swore by Himself to bless the descendants of Abraham so He is holding up His end of the deal even if they aren't.

It's a very gave mistake for anyone to think God does not love Israel as He is no liar and He does keep His Word!

What we are going to see before long is the destruction of Damascus Syria which may very well be something Trump does, or possibly Israel.

Yes this is one of the reasons I was wondering if Ezekiel was also foretelling of today's age, Israel came to it's land in 1949 just the bible said they would, they have enemies on all sides and few allies but even so this is not near enough to convince me.

Thanks!

PS This might answer your question!

This thread is not about the rapture it's about me asking if Ezekiel 37-39 might be speaking of a war to happen in our time, my friend thinks it's about the rapture but I am seeking to understand these scriptures and if they relate to our times. there do appear to be some similarities that could easily fit in out times but mainly my issue is figuring out where the land of magog is on our world map today as it might help me in understanding this.

I am not leaving out the possibility that this scripture has absolutely nothing to do with us today but in order to find the truth of the scriptures we have to search them with an open heart, in the end I don't really care if she was right or not I just want to understand these verses

YES it was in the BIBLE: Wars and Rumors of Wars, Nation(s) against Nation(s) and Kingdom against Kingdom (Isam vs Christianity)...they are all there.......including WWIII and beyond.

REM this pause we are in today, started in 32AD and is for the spreading of God's word thoughout the world. When the fulfillment of the Gentiles is right, GOD will tell His son to go get His Church via the Rapture but not before.

****

The Gog/magog war will happen long before the Millennium. In fact, with the prophecies that have to come before it, it is likely the Gog/magog war is probably at least 4 years prior to prior to Daniel's 70th week.WHY? I can see the players being setup on the chess board even now.

The Bible tells us the Israelis will be cleaning up the Bodies and burning Gog/Magog's weapons (probably nuclear) for 7 years.

The last half of the 70th week, the antichrist performs the AoD and the people who believe in GOD flee the city. There are no verses about cleanup no being done during this time period. Thus if prophecy is to be fulfilled, the 7 years must be prior to the last half of Daniels 70th week

I stated Nuclear,,,,,Yes, It tells us people have to use special cleaning and visitors are not to be allowed to touch the bodies. They also will be burning the weapons left by GOG/Magog for 7 years. This likely nuclear material.

Just to be clear Gog/magog is Russia, Turkey, and several North African Countries. You speak of the problems of the present day world. Russia is allied with Iran and has some dialog with Turkey in the present day. This is where the Next world war might start. The psalm 83 war is yet to happen, The Destruction Damascus is yet to be fulfilled, etc.

To give a little more info,, The US is only mentioned in the Bible as the "young Lions". They and the UK (Tarshish) do nothing to stop Russia but only ask if they are there for the booty,. I take it from this, the US at this time is no longer a superpower. This could be caused by many things, including the missing people that are part of the Military. Depending upon the number missing., it could be devastating.

Why are they Missing.......THE RAPTURE........ It is estimated that about 33% of the Nation's population will be around 115 million people to disappear. In a military that relies on people to man its computers, target systems and such, it would take some time to replace and train others in the missing places.

In any event,,,The Israeli forces probably hurting because of the psalm 83 war could not stand up to Russia, turkey and Iran plus. It does not matter.

By that I mean... the Gog/Magog war will be fought by GOD himself on behalf of the Israeli people. To show the world that he is the TRUE GOD. This is the war, that the after effects can be dated (7 year cleanup time). The Bible tells us the details in Ezek 38,39

I know my friend, this is too long but I got carried away.

Have a great Day.
