It does seem to be a division between people who understand they can not live up to gods PERFECT standard. And those who think they somehow can..

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)

With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26)

All things are possible to him that believe(Mark 9:26)

Without faith it's impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6)

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
(2 Corinthians 12:8-10)

grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18)

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
(2 Corinthians 9:8)

what is the purpose of the cross. If you could be sinless perfect to the point you meet Gods righteousness. What is the reason for the cross.?

We grow. Because we KNOW Gods unfailing love and grace. Not because we become sinless perfect.

Until we get the gospel down first to where Christ alone is our righteousness and we do not "become righteous or achieve righteousness by our actions". - the rest of the true Christian life will become a works-based religion that actually nullifies the very grace of God needed to walk out the holiness that is already in us in Christ in our new creation and then people will see this godliness in manifestation.

Us trying to "achieve" what Christ has already done is creating a religion in where we use the words grace, God, Jesus and word of God and yet deny the power of God that is in the gospel to effect the transformation of our minds to walk free in Christ to reflect what has already happened in our new hearts in Christ.

Christ alone makes us perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. He is the one who fulfills Matt. 5:48 because we are one spirit with Him and the Father for eternity. 1 Cor. 6:17

It's all "good news".

Answer (capitalized for emphasis. not yelling): The reason for the cross was TO PROVIDE Christ's blood IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God). One can not stop sinning WITHOUT THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God). We grow specifically by using THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God) IN US. But we have to use it to grow in it. We grow in it as we try to obey God's commands; using the scriptures to train in righteousness. And as you grow in THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God) IN YOU you sin less and less, until you "sin no more".

The mystery of Godliness: Christ in you.

We believe we receive the divine strength of God himself as a gift. That's what grace is. And so we use and grow in what we've received for the goal of being set free from the bondage of sin.

Those who are striving to reach some level of sinless perfection are expressing a need for peace in their relationship with God. I suggest that we put this idea to flight with the word of God.

Hebrews 13: 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Ours is an everlasting covenant in the blood of Jesus Christ our Great Shepherd. It is God working in us to make us perfect according to His will, not our will.

How shall God give us good things if we do not come to Him with our hands empty? Emptied of self ready to receive that which He has for us.

For the cause of Christ

This is the purpose of the cross...

Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Heb 9:18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
Heb 9:19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
Heb 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

The purpose of the blood of Jesus is to "purge the conscience from dead works" that one may serve the living God.

It is FOR THAT CAUSE that Jesus is the mediator of the New Testament.

it is by the means of the death of Jesus, for the transgressions that were under the Old Covenant, that those whom are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Under the Old Covenant one could not be perfect as it pertained to the conscience.

Heb_9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

There always still remained a consciousness of sins upon the conscience, despite the sin offerings...

Heb_10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

The New Covenant is better than the Old because it does this...

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

Babylon Christianity does not teach the above. They just ignore it. They don't teach ANYTHING about Jesus dying for the cause of "purging the conscience of dead works." That teaching has been completely eliminated.

The reason Jesus died was to establish a New Covenant which we could be enjoined to by the blood whereby the God puts His laws upon our heart and into our minds.

That simple fact is denied in Babylon because they argue in favour of ongoing wickedness and thus deny a heart which has had the love of God shed upon it. The love of God will never produce wickedness, it simply cannot.

What is going on in Babylon is a complete denial of redemption and salvation. Salvation has been redefined to be a COVER for sin because they teach that the "sin debt was paid." Thus with the debt paid no debt can ever be held due again, hence the sin cloak.

Satan's lie of "ye can sin and not surely die" has been repacked for the modern day.

Grace has been turned into license because "grace through faith" has been redefined to be the "legal swap."

Jude warned of something like this...

Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

The light of the body is the eye, that is the MINDS EYE. Jesus taught...

Luk 11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
Luk 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Luk 11:35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
Luk 11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

There can be a perceived light which is actually darkness. This is deception, one thinking they have the light when they do not.

A candle brings forth light and is visible to all. Likewise the Saints of God bring forth the fruit of righteousness in their lives. This is why anyone "walking in wickedness" has no light in them, they are producing the fruit of darkness. Hence...

1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

The Scripture is very clear, yet just like the Pharisees who refused to believe, so do many today.

Many people prefer their religious tradition then the very simple truth of manifest righteousness wrought through the love of God shed abroad in the heart. Grace is the power of God to live a godly life for grace is what quickens us to life, if so we give ourselves over to it. Grace can be rejected and thus received to no effect, to no change, to no transformation of the soul.

The Pharisees rejected the testimony of a blind man who could not see, even when his parents confirmed his story. They were so emotionally invested in their dead religion that they ignored the pure godly doctrine of Jesus as well as His miracles. It is no surprise that people would reject the doctrine according to godliness today, their minds are blinded just like the Pharisees.

It's a shame but a few people are coming out.

I attend a fellowship down in Alabama which has around 130 people I believe. Every single one of them testifies of being redeemed from sin. It is a beautiful thing to experience the Saints of God gather together in harmony, encouraging one another to remain steadfast in the truth, to experience the love of the brethren.

Here is a very beautiful verse of Scripture.

1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Here Paul notes the the purpose (end) of the commandment is...

1. Love out of a pure heart.
2. A good conscience.
3. Genuine faith.

We see this clear conscience alluded to in Hebrews 10...

Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
...
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

We see the "love out of a pure heart" also...

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

We also see genuine faith...

Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

The result being...

Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Jesus gave Himself for all people, that He might set them free, or release them, from ALL iniquity and purify them. Being purified that are zealous of righteousness. Hence the light within manifests outwardly.

Anyone teaching that one can be "redeemed" and at the same time remain a "worker of iniquity" is obviously in complete denial of "heart purity" as it pertains to salvation.

Here is what Jesus taught...

Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The poor in spirit, those that mourn, the meek, those that hunger and thirst after righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, and the peacemakers. Those are the character traits of the people of God.

It is all about our character, our heart. Blessed are the pure in heart, it is they who shall see God. That means those with impure hearts shall not see God.

We see connections in the Bible...

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

James spoke of being unspotted from the world...

Jas_1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The pure religion and undefiled before God. Such a simple concept.

Are you actually aware of who Jesus was talking to?

Do you believe that He was talking to you, whilst he was delivering this message?

The issue with folks misunderstanding the Bible, is that they think that everything in it was meant for them. (I suppose its a kind of arrogance really).
Not understanding the contextual and historical attributes of the Bible, and the actual message that Jesus was specifically conveying to a specific audience at a specific time, is what leads people down this path of law abiding self righteousness.

Let me try to explain briefly:

Jesus was beating the living daylights out of the Jews, He was teaching them the Law (whilst adding to it, they were used to this because that's what the Pharisees did), whilst showing them how futile it was to attempt to be as righteous as God required them to be.

This is what Jesus was teaching them in a nutshell.

That they cant EVER EVER do what God required them to do from the time Adam and Eve sinned. That they will NEVER EVER be able to please God at all with their actions and their sacrifices and their repentance and obedience....God looked at them as filthy rags, unclean and defiled, (same as us before we accepted the sacrifice of Jesus) they will NEVER live up to His standards or expectations, no matter WHO they thought they were. They were all damned to hell for eternity.
There will be an exception though, wait wait....its coming......what God was about to do will stun and amaze them. He took it ALL on Him, and He fulfilled (ended/completed) the Law, and gave us a New Covenant, different and better from the old.

That is then fully revealed to us after His death when it was now possible to receive His Spirit.

You see Jesus was teaching under the Old Covenant. The New Covenant was not yet in effect.

That is what so simple and chronological and logical, God actually made it REALLY easy to understand, but you have to listen and trust in the living God.

The author.

The word for "turn" in Jude 1:4 means to "replace" or "in place of" or " to transpose"...people are replacing the grace of God for something else.

It does not mean that people are "turning" grace into lewdness as the KJV seems to look like it is saying.

It has nothing to do with believers using grace as a license to sin which is constantly being accused of. That is a man-made belief from a mind that doesn't really know the gospel of the grace of God in Christ yet.

It is indicative of a works-righteousness mindset that denies the righteousness of God in Christ that has been given as a gift to the believer who has received Christ.

Paul was slanderously accused of the very same thing when he taught the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

Here are some scriptures where the exact same Greek word is used to see how it is used. You can readily see that the word means to transpose or to exchange from one place to another.

Acts 7:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] "From there they were removed to Shechem and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

Galatians 1:6 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Here is what the Greek word means:

"To transpose, put in another place and hence to transport, transfer"

Answer (capitalized for emphasis. not yelling): The reason for the cross was TO PROVIDE Christ's blood IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God).
No, the grace of God, God's unmerited love and favour, resulted in the provision of the cross (2 Tim 1.9; Tit 3.4-7). You have it all wrong because you do not understand the grace of God, and think of it just as something given to us.

One can not stop sinning WITHOUT THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God).
Without the grace of God acting on your behalf you could not even be saved. You are seeing the gift and missing the Giver. That is why you have to keep redefining it.

We grow specifically by using THE GRACE OF GOD (aka Christ's strength; aka God's strength; aka the Spirit of God) IN US.
While we grow by using Christ's strength and the Holy Spirit that is because God in His grace has given them to us. They are NOT the equivalent of the grace of God. They result from the grace of God.

But we have to use it to grow in it.
you have missed the whole point. You are in GROSS ERROR.

We believe we receive the divine strength of God himself as a gift. That's what grace is. And so we use and grow in what we've received for the goal of being set free from the bondage of sin.
You are totally wrong on the primary meaning of the grace of God. The grace of God is God in unmerited favour acting on our behalf and giving us gifts. It s not primarily receiving the divine strength as a gift. The latter is A RESULT OFTHE GRACE OF GOD.

You need to study up on the grace of God.

Yes but you have missed His whole point.

He said literally, 'Blessed ones the pure in heart' etc. In other words they are pure in heart BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN BLESSED. He was not saying, 'do this and you will be blessed', He was saying 'you are blessed and as a result you are this'.

It is all about our character, our heart. Blessed are the pure in heart, it is they who shall see God. That means those with impure hearts shall not see God.
Yes and it is a character we already have as a consequence of God's blessing,

We see connections in the Bible...

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

But a simple concept that you have not understood.

They were accepted before God, forgiven and born again of the Spirit, that is why they were blessed ones who were pure in heart, etc. They were blessed first, and the rest was a RESULT.

We too are saved first, by grace. Then the rest is a result.

Yes they do this because they are blessed ones. They are first accounted as righteous, then they are born again, then they do this as those who have been blessed.

So the OT day of atonement. What was the sacrifice for? WHy was the animal (which represented Christ) have to die and shed its blood?
Before the shedding of Christ's blood...not one of us could approach God's throne for Mercy and Grace

Leviticus 16:2
2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

The animal's blood was used to cover the throne/mercy seat and furnishings, a prefigure of Christ taking his blood into the heavenly to do the same so that...

After the shedding of Christ blood...we can boldly approach God's throne to acquire Mercy and Grace:

Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need

- Mercy (received) = The unmerited favor of God. Forgiveness.

- Grace (found) = The gift that "helps us in our time of need". God's Divine Strength.

What is a believer's "time of need" other than when we're tempted to sin? (If course there are many other needs but that's the biggie.)

What is grace meant to "help us" in during this time of need other than in resisting the devil and sinning not?

We could not approach God's throne to receive the gift before Christ and the cross because as sinners we were filthy and could never enter into God's presence to receive anything. We had no hope of being free from the bondage to sin. But "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us demonstrating God's love for us" (Romans 5:8).

"**THE VEIL VIOLENTLY RIPS OPEN IN THE EARTHLY TEMPLE!!**" Symbolizing what happened in heaven. The way to God's throne now opened. The purpose of it all. Any of us - as we are - finally able to approach God to receive what only he could provide to free us from this bondage: His Forgiveness (mercy) & His Divine strength (the Spirit of Grace; Christ's most Holy Spirit), available to all who will seek it now that Christ has been glorified.

Yes they do this because they are blessed ones. They are first accounted as righteous, then they are born again, then they do this as those who have been blessed.

Amen...works-based righteousness mindsets always get the gospel backwards. Instead of seeing what Christ has already done and as a fruit of His life in us being manifested we will do good works - they depend on what they do or don't do to maintain their own righteousness.

It is a false gospel. Satan has deceived them into coming "as ministers of righteousness" - only it is them trying to create and maintain their own righteousness and thus are not submitting to the righteousness of God in Christ. The gospel is the righteousness of God revealed. Rom. 1:16-17

Their straw-man is that believers in the grace of God want to sin and thus are advocating for sinning which is a complete lie and a distortion of the gospel of the grace of God in Christ's finished work on the cross and resurrection.

They cannot say that they still sin from time to time because in their own religion - they would be a child of the devil and "he that sinneth abides not in God". Of course they have no understanding of 1 John 3:9 & 1 John 5:18.

I see again the strength in numbers crowd is out in full force today...To those who are seeking truth, the apostle John said deceivers would come and try to deceive you concerning the matter of righteousness...He said; "Let NO MAN DECEIVE YOU, he that DOES righteousness IS righteous, just as He is righteous, and he that sins is of the devil....Warning: Don't let the sinful perfectionists deceive you...

He that does righteousness are those that believe in the gospel of the grace of God in Christ. Those that believe Christ alone is their righteousness. Those that believe His life that is in them will bear His fruit as they look to Christ - the author and finisher of faith. Those that receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has accomplished.

He that believes the work of Christ is the one that does righteousness. The gospel is the righteousness of God revealed. Christ alone is our righteousness. He will manifest in us the deeds of His righteousness as we depend on His finished work on the cross and resurrection.
