Someone posted a link saying Eastern Orthodox believe differently..too lazy to find and link it.
Just my opinion here, I think the best approach is to not be too concerned about whether or not the person is a male or female in most Christian encounters, only in the area of a Pastor or Deacon or Elder should we insist that men be picked and that is because it is commanded from the bible to do so.
Imagine if you would..... you're at the hospital seeing your sick daddy.
A woman comes in, introduces herself as Pastor so&so from the little church across town. She tells you that she was going down the hall & God told her to come in your daddy's room & tell him God's going to heal him. Do you let her pray for him? Most people would, because they're glad if anyone comes in & prays for their daddy.
She lays hands on him & commands healing as the Spirit instructed.
In a few minutes, he opens his eyes, sits up in his bed & says he's hungry. The next day he signs himself outta the hospital because he's totally healed.
Now how many of you foolish people that believes women can't use authority would tell your daddy to get back in the bed because she's wrong? I'll guarantee none of you, because you'd be thankful your daddy's well.
I say that to say this..... Years ago, in Pentecostal circles, this was the norm! My wife's family had a woman pastor friend come by & pray for her family members that was sick.
My wife had severe vision problems when she was little, & the doctor told her she was in the last stages of glaucoma, & she would be blind in a matter of months.
This lady pastor was called & she came over & prayed for my wife, anointing her with oil.
A week or so later, she was scheduled to see a second specialist. When she walked out to the car to get in it, she noticed the sun was bright & her eyes started watering severely. When she finally got to the specialist, he examined her & told her parents she's never had glaucoma & she was only near-sighted. This was after an optometrist & the first eye specialist both declared she would soon be blind.
We've been married for 33 years, & she's never had any problems since, not even scar tissue in her eyes.
I submit to you that if this woman pastor was sinning as such, God would have never used her in the first place. God doesn't honor those that don't honor His Word.

After Adam and Eve sinned, the Lord knew that one of the consequences of that sin was that men would rule over women:
To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing;

thats the only one i can think of.
this is Paul speaking for himself. "I do not" when the Most High speaks through a prophet there is no question the command is coming from Him and not the prophet.
Paul had apostolic authority and all the Scripture is from God. If it would be like you say, we would not have it in our Bibles for 2000 years.

Maybe the term 'pastor' (another word for Sheppard) comes from when Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep and lambs?
If so I don't think anyone objects women physically feeding people, though some will spit out any spiritual food and demand a man fed them instead.
