Depends on how the individual was raised. To be honest the amount of people who are selfish and only care for themselves far out number those who are kindhearted. This fallen world can really harden peoples hearts especially if they don't have God in their lives.

I think we're all evil in some form or another. But it does warm my heart when I hear stories of people helping others. In this world that's so filled with hate and cruelty, seeing people actually being kind and doing kind things for others is very refreshing to me.

People strive to be good, and some are better at behaving well
more naturally than others, perhaps, but in the flesh, all will fail
in some points, and even the best will bitterly disappoint people.

Actually, I don’t know that any of us are really good:

And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.” Mark 10:18 RSV

However, it is the Lord’s way that leads to happiness, so one by one, people fall in line.

Not many are kind, many have come to Christ broken and hurt, it takes time to heal from that. And when they have they have then to learn from there mistakes. This takes more time as the things that have been done all there life have to be changed and turned around.
Lots of things are not recognized & only in time God will show them that there is a problem in this area.

Man will Sin and when we do we have an advocate who died on the cross for that. That doesn't mean to say a christian is evil in some way or another, it is said Love the person Not the sin.
You Will see the christian that walks in Christ loving there neighbor Loving there enemies and praying for those who persecute them, & you Will see things by there fruits
For none Christians its for us to talk about the Good News i.e the gospel to lead them and show them in the right direction.

Work in customer service for a month (maybe even just a week) and you find out most people are rude, selfish and in a hurry.
I guess it's our fallen nature showing.

Definitely not. However, I also don't assume that most people are heinous sinners constantly bent on the worst forms of evil. I expect unsaved people to act like it, and I assume saved people will fail to act like it. At least some of the time.

Jesus made it clear only God is Good... If people think other people are good it is a sign of their lack of knowledge of the truth of the situation..

jumping in late here- I think , jmo, some people are mis-guided, some are selfish, some self-centered ( we know this by traffic " courtesy " ) and some are just bad and don't care.
