Ah yes, the Mark 5! Loved that show! ;) They say it is actually one of the earliest japanese anime's... so I guess that makes us one of the first anime fans! :D

I think it might be Mach 5, not Mark 5.... I never really knew  Mach 5 doesn't make much sense because that means 5x's the speed of sound.

No pictures handy, but Magnum PI's Ferrari 308 (of course) and the fastback Mustang from Spenser: For Hire.

Oh, and Mr. Bean's Austin Mini. :)

The Mustang from Bullitt

(And can any 'Stang fans help me? How did a 1967-1968 Mustang end up with older-version styling -- that looks-like-vent-grates in the back side window? I thought that went out by 1966.)

yes speed racer was japanese anime which people didnt get at the time and why the cartoon didnt last so long. then a few years later they tried another japanese anime, battle of the planets, which was my favorite cartoon as a kid. i actually found a few episodes online and watched with my 7 yr old son and he loved it!

Was Johnny Quest also anime? That was the first cartoon I remember where the lips didn't match the words.
