No, I don't have ADHD.. lol.. It's just that I find reading the bible, boring after a few minutes, and my brain is focused on getting ready to do all of what I have to do.. Do you use study aids or anything?
I believe it takes a while to train your mind to be able to focus and not just on prayer but on whatever you are doing at the moment.

When reading the Bible what helps me is to try and "be" the characters and my mind plays the stories like a movie in my head.

I add sights and smells and sounds from what i have read about the country and time period. Infer emotions and add tone to what people say and try and be "in" the story.

I have been told I have an active imagination.

When I pray, it's like a conversation between God and myself.

Do you have a favorite grandmother or someone you enjoy talking to for hours, because they have so much wisdom and stories to tell you?

Sometimes it's like that for me.

Sometimes it's just a song of worship and praise that goes thru my head for the rest of the day.

However I try each morning and evening to spend quiet time with God in either prayer, worship or bible reading.

As little as five minutes and as much as a few hours. Depends on my life at the time.

You slammed me just yesterday for talking about God's love.

Could you make up your mind? No? Okay, Fran, have your little hissy fit.
You're sooooo sweet.
I could only repeat it.

Do you like innocent babies?

Magenta only shared it, to show you exactly how you're acting.. And you're acting just like a wolf in sheep's clothing--nice one minute, going for the jugular in the next minute. You don't mind telling US how badly WE act, but get all fired up if WE dare tell YOU how badly YOU act... We all have acted like that at one time or another, but at least WE CAN admit it.

Oh.
Remind me to be worried about that wonderful image that wonderful Christian sent to Magenta and how wonderful it was for her to share.

You know what should be shared on this thread?
God's Love.

Have you ever heard of it???

Oh.

BTW.

I don't hear you talking about God's love.
Not here and not on other threads --- you know which ones.

I hear you speaking about people as if they weren't around.
I hear you putting people down for not agreeing with you.
I hear you calling people heretics and other rather nasty names.

Sometimes we THINK we're NICE,
but really we ARE NOT.

How does this relate to what Dcon said?
Seems kind of extreme scarecrow making.
1. How is he defaming anyone?
2. Works are irrelevant TO SALVATION...because we are saved by grace thru faith in Jesus...however the Holy Spirit leads people to live godly lives.
3.you wonder why folks get mad at you? Is cuz you accuse them of promoting sin and they consider that slander/libel.
Can you answer or reference someone without embellishing and twisting what they say into an obvious lie.
Let me break down the sentence above as you seem unaware of its meaning

"Can you answer" - implies a doubt of the other party, intimates a mocking
"reference someone" - you have no real foundations of your statement it is just invention
"conditions" - oh you will reference them but it will be
"embellishing" - adding to the meaning or exagurating the intention
"twisting" - distorting what is being said or meant
"obvious lie" - you are lying about what you say and thereby intend evil

Now this is a slander of someone and insulting them before they have even
spoken.

I have seen this done too many times before, people quickly read over it not
noticing. The recipient picks it up, because they want to know the feelings
respect or otherwise the sender has towards them.

You should pay more attention to how YOU act.

Well, see, that's the problem. When I'm doing anything else, I can focus just fine. :) It's only when I try to pray or read the bible, and it's like "hurry up hurry up".

No, both grandmothers are dead. My favorite one died when I was 6 so I don't remember her. The other one I didn't like much.. Both grandfathers died before I was born, too.

That's right Fran, you are not nice at all, really, though you want to pretend you are. And you just made yourself out to be a liar as well.

Those with ears to hear are people Jesus mentioned occasionally. If you do not see and hear what people are saying, perhaps you fall outside the category of having ears to hear and eyes to see. There are people who think they are Christian and yet are not saved, being religious but lost. One of the reasons people stand against the RCC is because that institution is infamous for perverting the revealed written Word of God, and leading people astray. Coming to a PROTESTANT site as you have, to promote and defend their teachings, was not a wise move on your part, Fran. If you want to promote the Word of God, that is one thing, but to defend the heresies of that wicked cruel and adulterous whore does not go down well. This is not to say we do not love our brothers and sisters who are still trapped by the snares that insidious institution has laid for them to keep them enslaved. Catholic guilt is a well known phenomena, being a major facet of some movies, even.

Magenta,

Your images are lovely and you love to speak about love,

but you're one of the least loving people I've ever met.
And let me add that my Catholic friends have more love in their little pinky, than YOU have in your Whole person.
In fact, you should learn a little bit about loving Others. it would please Jesus, the One you say you love.
Why not start doing what He said to do?

Oh right. You don't HAVE TO.

OH NO!!!

My mean nature will be visible to all!
I'm kind of dumb... didn't know all this...
I'll make a big effort, since Jesus doesn't seem to be working through me, for the future... Maybe... since we don't really HAVE TO DO WORKS.

The bible is a spiritual book, and it speaks to your heart.
A lot of what Paul is writing about is with emotion and passion.
In one sentence he will pack in 10 or more concepts.

It can help sometimes to set different objectives. To read a whole book
and see what speaks to you. To take one verse and look at all its
implications.

To split up sections of scripture between the psalms, the gospels and the
letters, so you have a bit of different perspectives. Unfortunately there
are no guaranteed solutions. The best one is to force yourself to engage
and do not let your mind drift for 5 minutes.

The hardest thing is to answer in your heart, are you drawing into the presence
of the King or just to do what needs to be done. I too often forget, I am
with the Lord of all, and He has privileged me to be with Him. Just thinking about
this reminds me again how easily I fail, and just run with a day.

I never know where to begin reading. I usually just close my eyes, open the bible and point to a verse..lol

I'd like to get a chronological bible. :)

I am not a fan of John MacArthur, but he comes to mind when you say this, because I think he has synthesized the four gospels into one cohesive narrative :) Probably others have as well :D
