JUSTIFICATION (for the umpteenth time)

Justification is a free gift from God. We cannot earn it. It is obtained through our faith, by the grace of God. No amount of works can save us. But only our FAITH in Jesus who died for our sins.
Epesians 2:8

SANCTIFICATION

Sanctification is an ongoing process.- It lasts all our life.
It is a process that requires our cooperation with God. The Holy Spirit gives us the help and the incentive to do good works and to not sin --- but it's OUR reply and action that is necessary to cause this sanctification to take place.
God does not do everything for us. We must do our part ourselves.
We say that the Holy Spirit is our paraclete. He is NOT a puppet master.

We are justified immediate upon receiving Christ.
We are most probably never sanctified in this life, although I'm not prepared to say it's impossible.

Whether or not we're S in this life, if we die BELIVERS IN CHRIST, we go to be with Him.

If we DO NOT, we CANNOT go to be with a God we do not believe in.
.
Finally.., you define it...now is this thread about Justification or sanctification?

BTW,

I did change my avatar.

I meant that I would update the avatar... (to MMD)

I was about 43 in that avatar picture.
When I tried to change it (last year when I joined) I got a window that said I had to contact an administrator, or maybe a mod, can't remember.

I decided to let it go since I didn't see what harm it could cause.

My age now?
70.

Should I update?
The story of why I used that picture is a long story.
I really shouldn't have...
so your actually old enough to be my grandmother:cool:

Your grandmother!
LOL

You're funny.
Maybe your mother. MAYBE.

Anyway, yeah, that's why you should listen to me and believe me!

Also, I'm not a grandmother.
Just remember that.

I have grandchildren,
but I'M NOT A GRANDMOTHER.

Got it??

He won't do it on "my say so". He'll do it for the fact that your age shown is incorrect, and needs to be adjusted..After all, we DID just get shocked to learn you're 70, and not a middle-ager..lol

You're insulting a person again instead of just talking to them...

You tend to do this a lot.
I'm serious... Maybe you just don't realize it. You don't seem like a mean person...
That...or you are too easily insulted and take offense when folks are simply stating as Peter says "as I see the situation".

NO!

This is theologically incorrect.
Please don't be sad for me.

I do want to say that it won't be our doctrine that saves us but our belief in our Lord.

HOWEVER, I did post justification and sanctification for Ariel, who asked for it.

What did I post, that is not understood???

§God does not do everything for us.
WE must do part of the work ourselves.

Why exactly do you believe Jesus became a human being???
His post was in response to "easy believism" which is another straw man that folks aren't teaching on this thread but you and others like to talk about.

Uh Fran, no condescension intended even slightly.I honestly feel sad reading your thoughts you post. Your post is almost completely about what YOU DO. Don't you realize that it is the Holy Spirit that will do the Sanctifying?
YOUR Salvation is entirely dependent on who JESUS is, and what JESUS has done.
Justification is about what God does.
Sanctification is about what I do with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit does NOT sanctify.
OR you'd have to explain what you mean by this since it really is difficult to discuss spiritual concepts and maybe we shouldn't even really be doing it.

Great....now can we have cookies?

I like homemade oatmeal and chocolate chips with milk.

Grandma only gave them to us when we went to her house.

BUT IT IS KEPT BY WORKS.

( I have such a dry mouth)
Only if you mean by the work of God.

Show scriptures that SALVATION is started by faith but kept by works?

NO!

PLEASE explain how you understand Sanctification.

You see, I know this thread is about J
But I keep reading how people get J and S mixed up.

Please explain it to me in your own words like I did.
I'm really interested to know.

No it isn't.. Salvation is kept by faith and belief in Jesus.

Works are NOT to be done for the purpose of keeping our salvation.

So you're doing works for the wrong reason, if you think they will guarantee the keeping of your salvation.

BUT IT IS KEPT BY WORKS.
