I chose to drive my truck that day and made a split second decision that saved my life but still was slammed by a suv. I know God can heal and in fact he has healed and helped me in so many ways but i know in this fallen world God works in different ways and I still have pain. This pain has made me humble, made me more considerate of others, my reliance on God. Obviously God has a reason to keep me this way.
One of my friends favorite question is:

how would you like for us to pray for you, specifically?

Jesus Himself went up to that person at the pool - I asked you to show me where a person "came" to Jesus and Jesus refused to heal him or her for any reason. There is no such thing. NONE.

Here it says that Jesus healed them all. Matt. 4:24 , Matt. 8:16. Matt. 12:15, LK. 4:40, Lk. 6:17, Lk. 6:19

The woman with the issue of blood by faith " in hearing of Jesus" received healing from Jesus without Him even knowing she was accessing it from Him.

This is going to be a useless endeavor. You don't believe that Jesus wants to heal everyone and you are entitled to believe whatever you want. Have a good night.
Bruce always amazes me with his love and patience dealing with people who sometimes treat him poorly.

This is one of the very few issues I part ways with him on however.

I agree with roughsoul that the enemy and our flesh can attack us with all sorts of maladies.

I don't understand how Bruce and some others can't see that God can and does use illnesses, THAT ARE NO FAULT OF HIS, for His Glory and our ultimate good.

Also, the Lord did heal all who asked, including THIS man.... John 55 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. SIN NO MORE, LEST A WORSE THING COME UPON YOU".
It's clear from the text that his ailment WAS caused by his sin.

Of course this does NOT mean all maladies are caused by sin. Other passages say that an illness can result in God's Glory to be made manifest.

I think that those who experience a healing should shout with joy at the incredible blessing the Lord has bestowed on you. Praise Jesus! But expressing gratitude is a far cry from telling people that eventually, if they believe hard enough, God will cure them.

Can't we let this rest? It is causing quite a bit of ill feelings.

Thats probably why i understand this so well because i deal with this daily
And people should be encouraging you in the Lord in this. He will be faithful to you.

What would you say to this girl that told me this below.

I had a person say to me one time that Jesus never forgave them of their sins even though she asked Him to do so. Why didn't Jesus forgive her of her sins like she said?

Any person who doesn't believe God would afflict His children firstly doesn't know Scripture, doesn't know God, doesn't know His ways, and doesn't know the Gospel. These preach a false gospel of novelty, selfishness, gain, idolatry, love of self, despise those who are good, are lovers of pleasures, love the things of the world and the world itself, and are covetousness. It is all a gospel akin to vanity fair.

That would be the major distinction PennEd.

But expressing gratitude is a far cry from telling people that eventually, if they believe hard enough, God will cure them
You can't earn grace and faith doesn't buy you miracles from God. God moves as He wills, not as men will.

Did you tell her that Jesus did forgive her of her sins and ask why she didn't think He had?

Did she believe in the false WOF spiel that sickness was due to lack of Faith?

Did you show her the verses where Jesus says the man being blind was NOT due to his sin OR HIS parents sin that he was born that way?
She wasn't a Christian. I had told her about Jesus. What she was doing is going by her senses - in this case her unrenewed mind to the truth.

Whenever we elevate our experiences over what the word of God says on a subject - we will never experience what the word says.

The truth is - that her sins were dealt with 2,000 years ago and now she needs to believe that her sins are forgiven as the gospel of God in Christ says. Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.

Acts 10:43 (NASB)
[SUP]43 [/SUP] "Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."

But if she refuses to believe it - then she will never have that manifested in her life. It is one of the ways of God and the way the kingdom of God operates.

The answer is always to preach Christ and Him crucified.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. Rom. 10:17

I have no idea my brother - I am not your Lord.

I had a person say to me one time that Jesus never forgave them of their sins even though she asked Him to do so. Why didn't Jesus forgive her of her sins like she said?

Hi Bruce,

One has nothing to do with the other. Being forgiven is absolute if one believes by faith.

Being healed is not absolute and doesn't happen because of our faith. But the one healed might have been healed because of their faith. But their faith doesn't
guarantee healing.

Anyway...I am off to listen to a teaching on Christ and what He has done for us. Everyone have a great night.

You are entitled to believe how you want on a subject. Don't let someone "lord it over your faith". We can either believe God wants us well or that He wants to keep us sick. The choice is ours to make.

We don't have to dis-respect each other and insult each other and call others a cult or that they are in dis-belief. We are to encourage each other in the Lord. And wherever they are at - to help bear what is happening to them in the way that they are going.

This truth below applies in a lot of these types of situations.

Romans 14:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

God bless us all and have a great rest of the night....The Lord will be "caught in the act of being Himself" and be faithful to all of us.....We have a great salvation in Him and a good, good loving Father. All is well.....:)

The first time I can remember an actual healing from God. In the morning if I dropped something on the floor I would have to grab hold of something to help me straighten up, later on in the day it was not that bad, so I just did not think of it. Anyway I am at this small meeting when this lady with her husband asked if I have back trouble, I say no. Later on she does it again, finally she just says, can my husband and I pray for you, I said yes, nothing happened, I went home and forgot about it. A few days later I was lifting something and my back felt so strong, a few more days and my back felt like steel. I remember standing there thinking how strange it was, when it seemed a voice said to my mind, THINK! Then I remembered the folks who had prayed for my back...that was many years ago and my back is still like steel.

God can use anything evil to bring about His goodness and love to us. He doesn't break our arms or make us sick to show His goodness to us. We would throw parents in jail for that kind of behavior to their children.

Where do we get that sense of morality from? From God of course. The heart and mind of man is not designed to trust in a being that would inflict harm in order to show his good to them afterward. It's diabolic.

Thank God that no matter what comes at us in life - that it can't touch who we are in Christ and all that He is to us. I wish you well my brother. It is God's will for you to be well.
I'm not saying "God did this to me", I live in a fallen world and anything can happen anytime, we are never promised the next minute, but my point is that God used this hardship to show His glory. Just like He did with that man in the video. Please understand me God doesn't cause the hardship, but He CAN and DOES use it for His glory and thank goodness, because we are all weak.

So what do you Word Faith people do with this passage?

"More than that, we rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:3-5

Folks I want you to know that I believe in healing, when something is wrong with me I ask God to heal me and practice faith for that healing. I have never believed that God has ever wanted me to be sick, I believe that God wants me well and I will pray that. Now, on the other hand, often times Christians simply do not get healed, and no one should ever make a judgment call on why it did not happen, I have prayed for healings that as far as I know did not happen. I have also prayed for healings that did happen. I would say to Christians, always ask God to heal and practice faith, however do not base your faith in God on a healing. I believe the will of God is to heal people, Jesus demonstrated that, however there are lots of things involved and often times Christians are not healed. I don't know the reason why, but one thing for sure, I am not going to judge a Christian who has a back problem and is not healed just because I had a back problem and was healed. A person who has not experienced a healing is not inferior in any way to a person who has experienced a healing.

This one too because they say faith = riches and health, but this says trials test faith to see if it's genuine.

1 Peter 1

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Good night, Bruce.

I just wanted to add here to this post that we have to be careful to not take a scripture and apply it to every situation.

If you read in context, Paul is speaking of celebrations of certain days and also about food and drink. So the verse you quoted applies to this only.

We can't apply that to anything else ..... if you apply it to one thing out of context, you'll use it for other questionable issues as well. We're safe when we form our beliefs on the context of scripture. We let God tell us what He's saying. We don't get to tell the scriptures what they mean or we're telling God what He meant.

God loves people, and does not bless with material, and monetary blessings, for personal use,but only blesses with our needs, physical, and spiritual, and wants is to help people with their tools.

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Some believe that living for God is material, and monetary gain, and people who teach such withdraw yourself from them, and do not support them.

1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Creation testifies that there is a God who loves people, for He provided food, and the means to make clothing, and shelter, and is the universal law, love God,and love people,so the world is without excuse, which is what the Bible essentially is about, love God,and love people.

That is how God wants the world to operate, love God,and love people, and His will be done on earth,as it is in heaven.

The love of money is the root of all evil, for it violates the 2 greatest commandments, love God,and love people, for if you love people, then you love God,and the love of money neglects the poor and needy, which is what it is all about.

Paul said if they do pursue material things, and money, for personal use, they have erred from the faith.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

James says the same thing as Paul, neglect the poor and needy, they have erred from the faith.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

If a person has the means to help the poor, and they do not do it,then the love of God does not dwell in them, for if they were led of the Spirit they would love people, and help them out with their needs.

Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

2Co 6:10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things(to be given in due time).

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

The last Church age that will be popular at the end time, where they believe God blesses with material, and monetary gain, for personal use, their wants, especially in America because she prospers a great deal in those things, and people believe it is a Christian nation being blessed by God to enjoy those things,so it is hard to persuade a lot of them contrary to that.

As far as healings,God will heal, but there might be a circumstance where He will not heal if it is detrimental to their walk with God,as in the case of Paul who received a thorn in the flesh so he would not get arrogant, and Paul asked three times for it to be removed, and God said,My grace is sufficient for you.

You cannot name and claim it with the attitude that because you say it,and believe it,that it is going to happen, for God does not jump through hoops for us,and we are on His terms,He is not on our terms, and if He heals,He heals, and if He does not,He does not,and God loves people,so He is not going to bless the saints with material, and monetary blessings, but their needs.

If a person wants to be blessed the best they can then they should be humble,so that there is not a reason God has to humble them by allowing something to come in their life to straighten them out, although God will not do it Himself directly, for God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

1Co 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
1Co 5:2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
1Co 5:3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
1Co 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Co 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.

Keep yourself humble lest you want trouble if you get puffed up.

It is just in me to ask of God if I am in pain. I remember being 5 years old and trying to sleep and I had this tooth ach, and I said, God please stop my tooth from hurting and instantly it stopped hurting. Not content with that I said, God let my tooth hurt again, and my tooth resumed hurting, and then I said again, God please stop my tooth from hurting and instantly my tooth stopped hurting. I was not even a Christian at the time. I realize that many times with myself and others, people just do not really get healed(though some pretend), yet there is something in me that screams...God wants us well.

And people should be encouraging you in the Lord in this. He will be faithful to you.

What would you say to this girl that told me this below.

I would say pull up a chair and lets see what God has to say within his Word. The woman was living in a misunderstanding. We would look at what true repentance looks like in King David and Paul. We would look at why God forgives those who seek Jesus. We would look at the crucifixion and the love of God.

Obviously if a believer was thinking this then they fell for a false teaching very early on. The only way to combat false teachings is by showing her how to read scripture in context and show her how to examine the scriptures deeper through commentary, greek or hebrew, and to seek spiritual guidance from fellow members in church.

This way she can know how to test the Spirits and test false teachers

I know people know what I mean, needs, but it is funny, and I have to start proof reading, for I meant to put needs, and I put tools, and I do not now where that came from tools. It is strange to type something that I was not even thinking about, for I do not get it.It is funny.

Paul's prayer was i pray you prosper as your soul prospers

There are many true believers who are prospering in their souls doing works for Jesus but they don't believe in healing and they are not healed. Paul prays that they will be prospered the same way their soul is prospering. I believe back then working hard for what you get was a deeply engraved virtue just like it is today. We are happy to work hard and we can see the fruits of our labors. So we expect God to see us as virtuous too.

We don't have healing because we earn it or are "good people" There are millions of very good very wonderful hard working faithful to work believers so by that measure we humans deduce they should be healed. God doesn't work that way. It is so hard for us humans to accept.

But the major truth many Christians are missing is we only have healing the same way we only have salvation., by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. He said "it is finished" and He meant it. Now if we can all realize that., we'd be in pretty great shape prospering not only in our spirits but in our daily lives here.., healing included as well as favor and a life lived without stress and worry about the cares of this world swooping down and carrying us away.
