Can I ask if you taught yourself how to read and write the written spoken word without the assistance of anyone else or were you taught how to read and write by somebody else?

Actually, I already know the answer to the question I asked you. You were taught how to read by somebody else. But do you remember your teachers name that taught you how to read and write the written word?

Simple enough to understand that the error of your two facets since you don't remember who taught you how to read.

And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Numbers 12:6

A prophet is merely someone who claims to speak in the name of the LORD.

When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. Deut 18:22

And while it is impressive when someone can foretell future events, it had nothing to do with any divine act of the LORD.

1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deut 13:1-3

It is kind of humorous how believers can actually believe that the LORD needs man to speak on his behalf. But of course all things are possible to those who believe. Yet doesn't' needing a mortal to speak for your God demonstrate his impotence rather than the omnipotence of the LORD.

So in Genesis 20, who was the seer, who was the prophet and who was the King?
Why are you asking me questions if you already know the answers...You have nothing to learn from me....Buh bye

LOL I like them stewed or canned...That sweetens them up!

I've had some experience as a seer..Its amazing to see, or know ahead of time what is to happen or what someone is going through...God has showed me all sorts of 'irrelevant' things as a training tool....I know something and have to ask Him.."What am I supposed to do with that?'" Its to train me to trust in the gift. I tend to second guess and miss a lot. Bad habit. I understand why a prophet, a real prophet does not tell people why he is not a prophet....Its because he does not want to be. Its far more 'scary' than, for example, the gift of healing... With the gift of healing you can lay hands on someone and minister then forget it.Knowing that everybody Jesus ever healed, died. You pray for them and you can forget about it. Leaving it with Father...But you minister to somebody is the prophesy realm and miss the mark...Everybody wants to stone you.
In some cases..there was repentance and prayer and the situation that was seen in the spirit was averted. Not all can see the whole picture.

I have the seer anointing too. Though since I've been housebound, am not being used much in this way now.

But, this just means that God has given gifts according to His will. The offices are different. It's a special call from the Lord.

Oh, and I like crab apples with salt. Lots of salt. Prophetic you think? lol

Your view of prophets pretty much agrees with mine...but salt on crabby apples? Hmmm All I can say is ewwwwe! LOL I'll take my salt on french fries....

I'm kind of home bound too, now...Not for long I hope...I expect total healing to manifest soon...According to the Word...I'm a driver when I'm not writing...I've always been a driver. Cars or trucks...As long as it has an engine and wheels...Oh and something to steer it with too.

Did that come to you? Ask Him for the rest of it...Or for Him to help you put it into a song or poem...It's Wonderful!

Sorry I didn't see this last post.

No, I had looked up Kidron in the lexicon and told him what it mean't. Beyond is the one that put it to verse. He has a gift from the Lord.

It will increase.

1Sa 9:8 And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.
1Sa 9:9 (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer).

What is the difference, for they were called a seer, and then a prophet,so it is obvious they both should do the same things.

I'm responding to the OP without reading the thread.

There is a passage in the Old Testament that says that what was called a prophet was formerly called a seer. The author is commentating on the older usage.

But there are two words translated, quite literally 'seer' from two separate words for 'see' in Hebrew if I remember correctly.

'Seer' might emphasize more the fact that some prophets are given to seeing visions, while 'prophet' in the Old Testament may have more to do with their receiving revelation in general.

You got it on the first shot!

In response to the question posed in the title of this op

Seer and prophet are used interchangeably in translations of the Word. Samuel is referred to as "the seer" and so it goes.

Seer has the stigma of relating to people with esp or other powers not of God. Do not confuse the gift of knowledge with esp...they are not the same.

You're correct The gift of a seer cannot always be differentiated from clairvoyance but the difference seems to be only in the source of the seeing. Often the seer has to question himself, and God as to the source, because sometimes the seeing seem to be so irrelevant to anything around him/her. I don't know about a regular prophet who Knows and hears , but a seer often has "practice sessions" For instance, a seer went into a KFC for chicken...They had a 'contest' where they gave you a scratch card. You know the kind, win a bucket. Ten dollars off, that kind of thing...That evening the seer saw where the bucket win was located on the card. He FELT he could not be right so he scratched randomly like people do....No win...Then just for kicks he scratched the three he saw...A bucket of chicken....Moral? He learns not to second guess. A good training lesson.

I am not trying to be correct or wrong, just reporting from the Word what I have experienced and learned from reading it over the years.

The word, seer, fell out of usaged for a prophet long ago. I am not correc t, this is simply a fact.

One day facts will disappear with everything else that decays, replaced by what is eternally true, and eternally liviing..Praise God, amen.
