Anywho, I think it was really cool. Technology was changing, alot of things that are super popular and common now were brand new at the time. Like video games, everyone 30 and younger plays them nowadays. But in the 90s they were just becoming common. I remember playing them as a kid and thinking about how amazing they were : p And I always really liked that it brought my siblings and I together.
Adult animated tv shows are common now, but back when the only adult animated tv show was The Simpsons, I remember sitting on the floor with my brothers and sister waiting for the show to start, haha.
Pro wrestling was all the rage back then, and I remember being excited for every monday night to watch it with my dad and brothers. The cartoons in the 90s were the bomb, too. Slice of life cartoons were taking off in the 90s, with shows like Hey Arnold, that were more focused on the actual life of the characters and how the people watching them could relate to the characters. I always really enjoyed shows like that.
I remember having a ton of those Mighty Max toys along with those old Tiger Electronic handheld games. I never really did much with the Mighty Max stuff, that I can remember. But I seriously liked those Tiger Electronic games, haha. I had a bunch of them and remember spending time sitting on the couch playing them while my family watched tv : p
My parents spent alot of time watching like Mtv and VH1, and I think that had a big impact on me. Even back when I was in kindergarten, Id listen to music and imagine my classmates and I playing the music. I think it was because of that that I wanted to play music growing up.
And Power Rangers were huge, too : p I loved that show, haha. I remember when the Green Ranger debuted. I thought he was the best ever, haha. To this day I still remember the tune he played on his dagger to call his zoid thingy : p
The 2000s was a weird time in my life. I was a teenager then. Theres alot from the time I dont like to spend too much time thinking about. Also my dad left us in the late 90s, and we were poor for most of it. Like we didnt have cable or internet. In fact, I didnt even have a Gamecube until 2007, so I think I missed alot of the popular culture at the time. Theres alot I like about that decade, but at the same time I feel like I missed alot of it too. So I cant really comment on that as much.
Yeah. This is like asking what was like to be raised in the same era you're still living in?
I love the 80's because of the musicand Life was so simple...
The late 50's and the 60's, undoubtedly, were the ultimate times (for anyone still surviving, that is).

The coolest thing about being raised in the 60's is that we were just the right age to begin understanding this man called "Jesus", instead of the religious idol so many had made of Him in the generations preceding mine.

For fall-in-love, marry-the-right-guy, America was great and didn't need to be great again, but the music got worse, and the clothes started a trend that would last until today (pants below the hips and I've-seen-hookers-dress-more-conservatively)? The 1980's.

Which was better -- beginning of rock and roll or anything from Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band, to CCR, to Cream, to John Prine, BeeGees, Kool and the Gang, and ...dare I say it -- Donna Summers?
There was such a vast explosion of variety in music in the late 60's through the late 70's. But, I really don't remember why everyone was appalled by Elvis or the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. And I remember Chuck Barry and Jerry Lee Lewis tunes, but they were already kind of old, so thought I'd ask someone who remembers both eras. Which time did you like better? Or are both so good you can't really pick a preference?
Being 11 years older than you, I'd say the transition from true Rock & Roll (modified Country) to the English invasion was the best.
Yes... I agree completely. So many good groups came from "over there".... great music.
And, strangely enough, quite a few of them testified that they were inspired by our singers, like Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis...

I'm sort of jealous of people born in the '80s (especially mid '80s) .. I have this weird fascination with 1999-2005 .. Something about the year 2000. Sometimes I wish I was a teenager around that time instead of 2009-2015.
