Ephesians 2v8-10
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by the Holy Spirit you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; HE is the gift of God,
How do you receive the Holy Spirit?
Romans 8 (substituted for insight)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by GRACE you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For as many as are TAUGHT by GRACE, these are sons of God.
Seriously? You see nothing wrong with replacing words in Scripture? smh
I was honestly thinking the same thing. My jaw dropped. Sorry Chris, but your scripture twisting in various threads has been worrying enough, but now you've taken it way too far. You're crossing into dangerous territory... deleting words from the scriptures and inserting your own! We're not to add to or subtract from the word of God! That's a serious thing!
And again you don't read the entire chapter, you're just taking random verses and twisting them to suit yourself. Very worrying. We've already been over Romans in more than one thread but you reject what we share. It's clear you've already made up your mind and that anything we share will just fall on deaf ears.
Defending the truth....
Ephesians 2:4-10:
"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them"
Romans 3:21-26:
"But now
the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God,
through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus"
Romans 11:5-6: ".............Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work"
Ephesians 1:3-14:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and
without blame before Him in love, having
predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
In Him we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being
predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also,
having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory"
The Holy Spirit is a deposit, a guarantee. This is why He says the "Holy Spirit of promise". It's our deposit guaranteeing our future inheritance. The Holy Spirit is given to us to confirm to us that we belong to God. We are sealed and confirmed until the day of redemption.
