Many today like Adam and Eve try to blame their sins on something else other than their own evil hearts.

Today many suggest the law is to blame for sin. However this is not true the law is good as Paul said:

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

This of course comes from here:

Neh_9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:

The law was never the problem but rather revealed the problem:

Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Here we see that sin that works death in us is made apparent by the law which is good.

Make no mistake Sin and death were before the law as it is written:

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Sin and death were before the law. The law just makes it easy to see and thus makes us more guilty. For example, If you break the law of the land you are guilty regardless of if you know the law or not. But you are extra guilty when you break it after you know it. sin becomes exceeding sinful when you know the law.

My point is simple If the law is not the problem then changing the law will accomplish nothing. Taking it away will do nothing. taking it away is like saying if I don't tell you your dying then you wont die. It makes no sense.

The law simply points out why you are dying, its sin that is killing you. Sin is the problem what is sin? breaking the law is sin thus the law gives us a knowledge of sin.

Though shalt not steal is not your problem, stealing is your problem.

Though shalt not covet is not your problem, Coveting is your problem.

The same goes for the Sabbath commandment. Keeping the Sabbath as the commandment says is not the problem its not keeping it that is your problem .

The law itself can not help you it just shows you that sin is your problem thus Jesus saves us not from the law but sin. simple. hope that helps.

While I agree, The law is not the problem we are. Paul did say the law caused sin to increase. Just look at life, When a law is given, people are carnal, they want to break that law. How dare someone tell me what to do. Even a child. may never go to the cookee jar But tell him now, and he will be tempted.

Also. This is what paul says about the law and making us righteous people.

Galatians 3:21

Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

The law can not make us moral people. it was never given for that reason, it was given to lead us to Christ, Because we are convicted by the law as sinners.

Again

While your right, Do not steal, covet etc is not our problem. They do not tell us how to overcome the problem when we have a tendency to do those things.

How many times have someone actually stopped doing something they really like to do because someone said stop it? Not very many.

People need reasons to stop. The law did not give us that reason, or an explanation of why, Only do not do it, And it did not even give us complete details of what would constitute breaking that sin, (see Jesus and his sermon on the mount, when he discusses this fact)

The law is written to the lawless to lead them to christ, Not the righteous who are in christ, Asking a believer to go back to law is not going to help them learn how to be like christ, It was never given for that purpose. All it can do is continue to condemn, or cause a person to water down the law so they can feel like they are ok.

I will continue to post what Paul says about the law and the New Covenant every time people try to bring Christians under the bondage of the law again.

What is the greatest commandment "in the Law"? Thank God we are not in the Law - nor are we under it anymore as a true Christian is in the New Covenant.

So, what are the 'commandments of God in the New Covenant"? John tells us exactly what they are.

1 John 3:23 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

Replacing Christ Himself for the carnal keeping of the law of Moses is an anti-Christ belief system that nullifies the very grace of God that is in Christ's finished work from operating in our lives like it was meant to.

We will not desert Christ to go back to the law of Moses and commit spiritual adultery on our Lord. Rom. 7:1-6

Look, I know you want people to live in Christ, I'm just saying you're not acknowledging that we are living under commandments. You even highlighted one of them in brown.

I'm not talking about "the law". That ("the law") was a whole system of government and procedures full of ordinances. This was a heavy burden that people like Paul were glad to be rid of. Why? Because the priests were men, weak and sinners, and God wasn't happy with animal sacrifices--God desires faith, love and obedience (to commandments). What else? The kings sometimes did wickedly, built altars to false gods, planted groves, and made thousands of people stray from the commandments, etc. Can you imagine seeing people around you worshiping idols by the command of the King of Israel? And compound that with the fact that every little thing you did wrong caused you to be deserving of a stoning to death, etc. Wouldn't you be glad to receive the law of Christ?

Now, Lord Jesus is our High Priest, and King, we have a personal relationship with God.

I don't want "the law" and I don't want anyone else to live under it.

I'm just saying, we have been given commandments, so please stop pretending that we haven't. I've also seen you include terms like "anti-Christ" towards people teaching about God's commandments.

Before you freak out and see the words "the law" in what I post next, please see that they are not listed in the O.T. so that you get the point.

Please look here:
Christ gave us 2 new commandments!

Matthew 22
[SUP]36 [/SUP]Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

[SUP]37 [/SUP]Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

[SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the first and great commandment.

[SUP]39 [/SUP]And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

[SUP]40 [/SUP]On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

"New"? Yes, because they were not listed in the O.T.

However, the 10 commandments are an extension of the law of Christ, i.e. keeping the sabbath is if you love God, not taking His name in vain is if you love God. The second part of the 10 commandments cover how we act towards our neighbors. However, Christ gave us more understanding in that through the N.T. we understand the O.T. commandments, we have a very simplified version of it, easier to remember, easier to keep in our hearts, because of the love of God in Jesus Christ.

If you look at it as simplified to complicated, it makes more sense. For example, Matthew 22:39 as listed above is very simple to us, if you complicate it a little we get the 2nd part of the 10 commandments, and if you complicate it even more we get hundreds of "mitzvot" mini commandments. So-called Jews claim they follow (or try to) 613 of them. Can you imagine keeping track of all those? I couldn't. Maybe these mini commandments were because the Israelites didn't understand, they include things like 'do not have sex with your aunt', 'do not have sex with your sister', 'do not have sex with your mother'. Almost like spoon-feeding them because of their lack of understanding, we can see that the commandments of God can all be rolled up in to the 2 that Lord Jesus gave us.

All of the O.T. commandments are from love, to love God and our neighbor.
The 2 N.T. commandments of Christ are from love, to love God and our neighbor.

Are these 2 commandments going to be scrapped in heaven? No, they exist forever. Nobody hates each other there.

Who are the people who will be rejected by God? The people not following these 2 commandments.

Matthew 7:12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

(In the same chapter)
Matthew 7:[SUP]21 [/SUP]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

[SUP]23 [/SUP]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Why does Lord Jesus in Matthew 7:12 tell you to keep the law of God?

When will people stop worshipping at Mount Sinai and move to Mount Zion?

this would take some humility, and people would have to take their focus off self, and put it completely on Christ.

This is a hard thing for most people to do. In fact for many, it is impossible.

Good post my friend ! it's just not getting through to them that we are talking Spiritual Commandments of God while they are still pushing the carnal laws of Moses. Be patient with them !

May God be glorified in all things, either by their enthusiasm for our Lord, or our patience.

God bless you, my special sister. :o

Exodus 16:28
And the Lord said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

2 John 6
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Why did God give us two commands, (love God, and our neighbor, who includes our enemy) and tell us THAT was the way we will fillfil the law. If all he had to do is tell us to follow the law. and we can fulfill it?

The argument is not should we all go live in sin like you all want to make it, The argument is what causes a child of God to become christlike

The law of sin and death(moses), or the law of Love?

Amen.
Those commandments are a far cry more than "believe on Him who has been sent", or loving God & your neighbor.

Matt 22:
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[SUP][d][/SUP] [SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the first and great commandment. [SUP]39 [/SUP]And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[SUP][e][/SUP] [SUP]40 [/SUP]On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

I guess Jesus was mistaken?

Loving God and neighbor was given to show us HOW to follow the commands, Not as an added command.

People often say to those that speak of the grace of God and that they are not under the law of Moses anymore that they believe they are without "laws" now.

We do have laws in the New Covenant.

Good, I'm glad you agree. All O.T. commandments stem from these 2 N.T. commandments.

Does it matter which law? Can you keep them all? Does one negate the other? Does one make us more holy than the other?

God gave moses the law and said if you want to be righteous, do all these perfectly, Fail in one area and your under a curse. Did God water down his own law?

oh and by the way, Read the OP again, He is talking about Mosaic law.

keeping the focus on self, is self-defeating and I have a habit of doing just that

not in the sense of trying to do things to gain righteousness, but in the sense of disappointing myself

if that makes sense...:p

better yet, they are fulfilled by those two commands,

If you love someone, You will not covet what they have, but praise God for blessing them

If you love someone, You will not steal from them

If you love someone, You will not commit adultry or fornication.

if you love someone, you will not bear false witness against..

It is not the law that is the problem, it is the lack of love which is the problem, We love because God loved us first, He gives us the capacity to love, And then we follow the spirit.

I do not need to the law to tell me what to do, it can't I need to learn to love people in a way I would never sin against them. (this includes all people)

Oh it does, I think we all struggle with that, Thats what performance based systems do, Make us look at our self. How good am I doing, How bad am i doing, Am I doing better than Joe Susan or the people in my life, or am I doing worse.

ugh, the madness of focus on self.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; [SUP]14 [/SUP]but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

James 1: 14

Pretty much says it all.

haha

sometimes I sit myself down to revisit the decisions AFTER the consequences of making them

you learn to pray more about them cause God will allow us to follow through with bad decisions and then we need a ladder to climb out of the hole we dug

Yea, old man falls in the hole, new man climbs out of the hole.

Only God knows the true heart of a man, when statements fall outside of this,

Romans 2:1-2

If you know how to love neighbour how can you not love God first and keep holy HIS chosen day ?

If you know how to love neighbour how can you not love God first and keep holy HIS chosen day ?

You better know how to love God first, Then you rlove for your neighbor will become natural

And who said I did not keep his day?

If a Christian does not observe the Sabbath day as in from Friday
night until Saturday - are they sinning and dis-obeying God?
Irrelevant since we're all guilty of breaking all the commandments at one time or another.
But for the sake of argument, how could it possibly be known if the day we call Saturday
is actually divisible by exactly seven from the exact number of days since the Creation?
Obviously it can't, and all this Sabbath-day legalist controversy is in vain.
Most Churches congregate on the first day of the week, because that's what
the disciples did in Acts 20 and when Paul instructed us to in 1 Corinthians 16.
