I find nothing good in those posts whatsoever
That's because you've conformed to the world.

1 Corinthians 14:[SUP]
34 [/SUP]Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.[SUP]
35 [/SUP]And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.[SUP]
36 [/SUP]What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?[SUP]
37 [/SUP]If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.[SUP]
38 [/SUP]But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Finally! Some bible among the madness and confusion.

Romans 16:7 is actually a good argument I checked it out, its a female name it seems. I'll pray and think about this for sure. Thanks.
Romans 16:7 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

Adronicus and Junia, kinsmen of Paul, were noted among the apostles. The apostles gave them notice because of their faithfulness in Christ.

God corrected His people, and it was horrific with blood, violence and death. His people are His bride, it's a relationship, remember the wedding supper? If He didn't correct His people He wouldn't care about us.

A couple of bruises on your thigh and bum isn't anything in the same league as watching everyone around you get killed for disobedience.

Proverbs 13:24
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Correction is needed for children, sure. What about women?

The historical context is important. Biblical men were the ones who initiated divorces. Women today are the ones who initiate divorce. They come up with all kinds of reasons, sometimes they get bored and want alimony.

Matthew 5:
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

You won't find scripture which says a woman put away her husband. Any woman who is grieving her husband and is puffed up with feminism is spreading confusion. Inverting the natural order has had terrible consequences.

Both men and women need to live according to scripture, not just women.

The times when God brought death, violence and bloodshed was when Israel as a nation would not obey God and repent of their sin. They were God's chosen nation, but some had faith and some were rebellious and hated God.

They served foreign gods and pagan practices. When the earth swallowed up a large number of Israelites, they were given the opportunity to repent and return to God and His ways. They refused so God judged them right then and there. But they had the opportunity to live and they chose death because their hearts were not of faith, but were evil and full of rebellion.

When the Israelites were dispersed to Babylon and God brought death, the blood and the sword upon them, they were an idolatrous nation. God had to judge them. Years and years passed and he relented, but he finally had to act. And when he did, those who had faith were marked on the forehead and they did not die. Those who died were faithless, evil and wicked and again, they hated God.

God loves His own people. Yes he lovingly chastises, but what you're describing is not the God of the bible who loves the faithful who love their God. His wrath is towards those who refuse to repent. He even told the Israelites that He didn't take joy in their death and pleaded with them to repent and live. But they did not heed his warning and so they experienced the wrath of God that He promised them. They profaned His name among the nations.

Zen, your view of God is not right. I'm concerned for you that you don't see God in the proper understanding of His character. God loves His bride and blesses her beyond measure. And when she needs to be corrected, He lovingly does so. It's not a blood bath of wrath towards His bride.

this is just a general observation

asking for scripture because a person has been corrected by the scripturally based post (without direct reference) is indicative of a personality that really and truly has an axe to grind but that axe is with their own attitude

to then turn around and use scripture for evil directed at others is fair play in their way of thinking

only take offense if this applies to you

there are some over the top smarmy posts in here that reveal problems with the heart and head

no amount of Bible quoting can cure that. getting down before God and admitting to the heretical Bible thumping would

Admittedly, that would be another way to understand the verse. But note the verse does not say "The apostles gave them notice because of their faithfulness in Christ." You are inserting your opinion into the text.

Some translations turn Junia into Junias, making her into a man. This was done due to the bias of the translators, that a woman could never be an apostle.

Yes....... you are correct. You are a pretty astute guy. Your antagonist would have us believing Paul recommends drinking wine whenever you have an upset stomach. They had no Rolaids or Tums in those days. We do today. It's a cultural thing.

As much as Literalists and Legalists want to resist it, the Bible has to be read with a certain amount of common sense.

They were listed in the salutations along with others who were helpful in the ministry.

it occurs to me that certain men may resent women because that woman is a better 'man' than they will ever be

not everyone can understand that LOL!

Zen,

I am amazed that you call yourself a Christian. You're rude, you condone violence, and act nothing like Christ.

A Christian man is to love and cherish his wife as if she were his own flesh. You beat yourself often?

And your comment to NoNameMcGee just showed your character to be that of a bully. I've been reading a lot of what he posts and I have only seen respectful, knowledgeable posts from him.

As far as women being submissive to men, I agree with that. A house divided against itself cannot stand. There has to be a leader, BUT NOT A DICTATING, BULLYING, ABUSIVE MONSTER.

And the comment about the mosque wasn't too far off. Your ideas line up with Sharia Law. Are you even aware of that?

Hi, Desertsrose

Regarding loving chastisement, and your disagreement with the seriousness of sin, I simply ask you to consider this chapter

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers+16&version=KJV

Disobedience was met with horrible punishments. If you asked which I would prefer, a few bruises on my legs or the horrific end to these people, I'd honestly take the bruises.

Please note that all of these people were Israelites.

I've had the "You are not Christian speech before", ironically from another puffed up woman.

What just came to me as I read this
"cherish his wife as if she were his own flesh"
was this scripture

Matthew 5:29
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Doesn't this scripture suggest that the importance of conforming to God's will and commandments is greater than having some woman think you're an abusive monster?

You also missed the comments about loving and cherishing each other in Christ.

NoNameMcGee does not post respectful or knowledgable comments, he spews insults without providing scripture. That's if you can bring yourself to read them. Would you think it's mature and respectful if I kept replying to your posts with "haha u mad? u mad girl? u gonna cry? hahah cry more! dont cry here hahaha". It's frankly moronic.

As for shariah law, they have harsh punishments but not for the right reasons. It would be hilarious to me if when Lord Jesus returns to rule for 1000 years, so many of you were literally shocked to find out the punishment for sin. "What I have to be stoned to death? But.... Christianity.... wow that's so cruel and abusive". Are you going to defend the millions of people who will be killed by His sword?

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Ephesians 5:25-33

Puffed up woman? Well, I've never been accused of that before. Maybe you have that impact on women.

"harsh punishments but not for the right reasons"? What exactly is the right reason to slap, beat into submission? When she doesn't agree with you? Burns supper? Give me an example.

I agree to a certain point, but confused on the punishment part. What did Jesus mean about loving your enemy?

[h=1]Matthew 5:44King James Version 44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;.......
Is a wife that is disobedient one who falls into this category?
What does this
Luke 14:26 mean, if you don't experience it?
[/h]Just trying to understand...not rebuking
