I read in a very old thread in the announcement section I think that those in charge I gather already decided against this.. I say I gather because there is no option for it
I am more for adding a dislike button option, rather than having more mods.... at least then the poster can see that people disagree with them, rather than having people post long text walls, or going off topic/ hijacking the thread.

Won't stop people. People are arguing because Person A wants Person B to see how "wrong" they are. Something a dislike button can't do.
And a dislike button would be abused severely and create More work for mods.

Simple reason, as I said before, is the way the BDF is is because Robo and mods have decided this is the best balance. It's not my guess, it's their own words. So as long as the ones running things find most of it acceptable more them adding more mods won't do a thing. Nor will long threads. This has been brought up multiple times before and the answer has always been the same... "we're not changing it".

The "ignore" function is useful too. If someone proves themselves to be particularly pernicious, there is no point in further engaging them after you've said your piece and/or admonished them.
Early on in my membership here, I liked the ignore function. As time went on though, I thought about what putting someone on my ignore list meant to me, and I decided that placing them there was a very passive thing to do and it absolved me of any responsibility to actively just disregard someone, no matter how antagonistic they might be.

For many months now, my ignore list has been empty. I personally just prefer to see everything and make the active decision to disregard someone and their drivel than to have that function done for me.

Although, I will say that I do enjoy the ignore function for one particular reason - figuring out who has ME on THEIR ignore list. That gives me a chuckle. Maybe even the giggles. Might even make me guffaw from time to time.

The BDF is great.
We are all free to express ourselves, good or bad.
It teaches humility.
We realize we need to control our words if we are to represent Jesus the way he wants us to.
We grow in our faith.
Some may go there just for the sake of an argument.
If you feel that happening, ignore them and move on.
That's the Christian thing to do.
Yes, I know, easier said than done.
But if we ever get into a debate with a non-believer outside the forum, we need to be on our best behavior, and the BDF prepares us for that.

I guess it is what it is then.

Why do you (any of you) care whether or not someone else understands inconsequential Scripture "correctly?"

Which Scriptures are inconsequential?
good question

i think he means
if it doesnt pertain to salvation

why is it worth fighting over
(not discussing... but arguing over)

2 Timothy 2:24 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient,

Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Philippians 2:14 - Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

I thought that might be what he meant, but I want to be sure.

This - I am curious about...

Good question. I have wondered if that can be done.

I even created a thread once based on this question:

'ignore' count
I wouldn't like a function to just spit out an answer to me. That takes all the fun out of it. I like looking at the flow of responses in a thread and then deducing who might have me as a member on their ignore list. Some folks I know have me there, and I know the reason and each time I laugh when I think back on those exchanges. Other folks though, I'm not sure, so I have a mystery to solve. Fun.
