Amen, Unlike end times, how old is the earth, Do we speak in tongues etc etc and topics like that, This is the gospel. Peoples eternity will be effected if they get this wrong, so it is the most important subject.
Amen and then get dissed for defending it and making a stand on the truth in a public forum where lost people can read it.........shakes head......................If one person sees it and wake up to the truth of the word it will be worth it even if every thread was about it with 84847463527929494 pages per thread.

Yet I know from personal experience that it happens.
Belief in people. who will fail us, I agree, many lose faith in people we once trusted.

Belief in God, who will never fail us, I find that impossible.. I think you witnessed people who never had true faith, and thus never experienced Gods true love walk away because their belief had no power. II do not think you ever met a person who had real saving faith turn to the point they do not even believe in God anymore. Lack faith in certain areas? yes, it takes time to see God work in different areas of our lives. and to learn to trust him,, But stop having any faith at all.. I can't see it.

Imagine a sinner backsliding.

Can't happen, because he was never risen with Christ in the first place.

It's a shame folks believe such stuff, simply because a popular person says it's so.

That's why there's so many rich televangelists.

They lie like Hitler, & indifferent christians love them.

The tribulation is coming for those ever learning, but never coming to the knowledge of the truth.

Resisting the Word is resisting Jesus, for He is The Word.

backsliding is not losing salvation, It is sliding backwards.

We will never slide back so far we are where we were when we first Got saved, unless we were never saved to begin with. We were made new creatures, Our Flesh will never have the power it had before it was crucified. It can;t happen.

Those who say it can do not understand the power of salvation, and the power given to those who are saved.

In order for one to lose salvation - Christ Himself would have to be separated from the Father because we are joined as one spirit with Him. That will never happen.

Jesus is our High Priest that stands in the presence of the Father as our representative because we are one with Christ.

When we realize that the New Covenant is between the Father and the Son - then we will start to understand what "being saved" actually means.

Jesus Himself is our salvation and it is all by grace through faith in Christ when we hear the gospel message of Christ Himself.

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

The Greek word for "fit" in Luke 9:62 means usable.

This is talking about ministry in the kingdom - not for eternal salvation which is only found in Christ's finished work on the cross and resurrection alone
.

2090. [FONT="Galatia Sil" !important]εὔθετος[/FONT] [FONT="Gentium" !important]euthetos[/FONT] adj

Fit, suitable, usable.

Complete Biblical Library Greek-English Dictionary, The - The Complete Biblical Library Greek-English Dictionary – Delta-Epsilon.

The "context" of Luke 9 is definitely talking about "ministry" in the kingdom.

Luke 9:60-61 (NASB)
[SUP]60 [/SUP] But He said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God."

[SUP]61 [/SUP] Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home."

One may may joined in one spirit with Jesus, and because persecution decide no longer join, like what happen in matt 13
Matt 13
20
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Can you decide by an act of your thoughts in your mind to "un-born yourself"? Can you decide as an act of your thought life "stop being a son" to your father?

Of course not - we can think it but it is not a reality.

Nothing in that scripture says that God kicks those joined as one spirit out of Christ. You are reading that in the text.

Stop believing that Jesus is our peace and when the circumstances of life come - we will not experience that peace which is ours in Christ. Does God kick us out of Christ for not experiencing His peace? Of course not.

It's religious nonsense and the root of this type of thinking is a works-based non-gospel.

Jesus never kicks those joined, but in matt 13 persecution make those joined no longer join.

Matt 13 not say Jesus kicks. Persecution make them no longer join

Hebrews 10: 37FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY.38BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH;
AND
IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.
39But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.

Adam and eve was perfect. You cna not use them as an example. We are saved out of sin, They fell into sin.

They never knew what it was like not to trust God. We grew up knowing what it was like.

No one is fit for the kingdom. God has to make them fit, If you not going to look to God to complete you, You not going to be made fit.

I can put my hand on the plow all day long, it will not save me,, God has to save
me.

But we (those saved) are not of those who shrink back, But those who have saving faith.

why people always ignore this aspect and highlight what they THINK proves them right, is beyond me.

Matthew Poole's Commentary
The conclusion is a hopeful assertion of their condition, or a sweet intimation of what they ought to be, even like himself; and so the apostle removes all jealousy of his reflecting on them, as Hebrews 6:9.

But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; the adversative, but, is an exception of them to whom he writes from the apostate state, and so joins himself with them, hoping they were such de facto as he was, and as they ought to be de jure; and so intimates their duty, and that of all Christians: We are not sons of defection, persons withdrawing and backsliding from Christ, his gospel, or duties; apostates from the truth, whose end is destruction, an utter separation from all good, life, and glory, and full subjection of body and soul to eternal torments in hell, by the righteous sentence of God,
Matthew 10:28: who are sons of defection, are sons of perdition, John 17:12 2 Thessalonians 2:3
.

It's blanatly obvious that the writer of Hebrews says to "those that have received Christ" that they are not of those that shrink back.

Those that shrink back are the Jews that hear the message of Christ's sacrifice for sins but reject it and thus willfully sin as the writer talks about in Heb. 10:26.

The whole book of Hebrews is talking to Jewish people ( both those that have received Christ and those that have not yet received Christ and would hear the letter being spoken to them in meetings ) about the better covenant, the new covenant, the greater High Priest, the only true sacrifice for sins - being Jesus and His blood that cleanses us.

The book of Hebrews was written before the temple system came crashing down in 70AD.

It's so sad that folks will push one part of a verse waaay over the top to make it say waaay more than it says, & totally ignore that the same verse that says it can happen.

New International Version
But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

New Living Translation
But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

English Standard Version
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Berean Study Bible
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Berean Literal Bible
But we are not of
those drawing back to destruction, but of faith to the preserving of the soul.

New American Standard Bible
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.

The writer is explaining in the same verse that there that there are those that shrink back to destruction.

Plain & literal.

Sinners can't shrink back, so it's not talking about them.

If this wasn't true, the author would have reworded the verse.

They never experience not to trust God before, it take faith. We never experience heaven, or see Jesus, it take faith. So we are in the same position
