This song was the first time that Michelle Phillips was given the lead over Cass Elliot :) I don't know what else to say about them except that they were great musicians, and a wonderful band. The sixties and seventies... world changers, both good and bad. Bittersweet.

I was too young to remember the 60's but I do remember the lunar landing for some reason. I remember the 70's well but I was just a kid so I didn't pay any mind to any political stuff going on. I just remember a peaceful time when everyone was freindly and neighborly and people would often give the 'peace' sign with their fingers and everywhere u looked there were peace logos and Jesus loves you bumper stickers and life was so much simpler. Of course there was a negative side to that era too like the war and all the soldiers who came back to find they weren't liked and agent orange and the struggle between the hippies and the establishment, etc... but none of that affected me since I was just a kid...

I turned five in 1960 :D Largely, I do not remember the sixties as a historical era except from quite a few documentaries I have seen, "The Sixties" being one of the best, and there was also an almost three hour long movie called "The '60s" that was excellent. I do remember things that happened when I was a kid of course, but as children we lived a relatively sheltered life in a fairly strict religious environment. My rebellion started at a young age :p I do remember the first time The Beatles were on The Ed Sullivan Show. The was a really big show to me; I was not quite nine but was excited by what I saw coming. I thought it was great. I loved the music of the sixties, and still do :) The British Invasion, the Hippie era, peace love and rock and roll, tune in, turn on, and drop out, bring it on! I was fourteen during the summer when Woodstock happened. I really wanted to go but also knew it was not realistic to hope for such a thing. I see it as bittersweet because there was a lot of deception in some the cultural movements of the time, even as really great things were happening. Martin Luther King Jr type of civil rights happenings... Here is a song by Moodswings from Mood Food, called Spiritual High (it is in three parts but this is just part 3, sung by Chrissie Hynde in the other parts), that showcases the famous "I have a dream" speech of Martin Luther King:
