All of Hebrews if for saved believers so that was not me.

The book of Hebrews actually brings great assurance of salvation, it is so ironic that people use it against assurance. But then it takes the Holy Spirit to reveal truth....pray you may see it yet. :)
Amen to this one.......absolute assurace of eternal life....

I don't think they really do put them on ignore...but I know what you mean, it seems that way to me too sometimes.
It can get confusing too because "they" do not all think exactly alike on everything just as "we" do not think exactly alike on everything. So it is easy to attribute a belief to one of "them" that they actually do NOT believe but another of "them" DOES believe.

Then there is the added confusion of seeing that you agree with someone but realizing you can't hit "like" because while you agree, you don't agree with the puffed up way they went at saying it. (Not what they said but HOW they said it.)

Again the workers for fail to acknowledge that the saved can have works of wood, hay and stubble yet still be saved. ...works of wood, hay and stubble do not equate to being faithful!!

I just want to say to EG that I did not know (missed it) that the wok silliness was over a misspell by you. I just saw a picture of a wok and some wok jokes and joined the silliness. Had I known it was your post with the misspelling, and given that you were upset and worn out, I wouldn't have joked about it because I wouldn't want you to think I was making fun of you or think I wasn't concerned about how upset you were.

So I'm heading to bed. I enjoyed talking with all of you again today, especially when we began walking well. It was a shining moment. :)

I cannot say for sure, but I cannot help but observe that when a person believes that works (in all its variations) save or keep one saved they

become fruit inspectors

they get puffed up with this knowledge of the good works they do

they also erroneously assume that those who believe in eternal assurance do not do good works

they seem to have advantage over others like it is some competition

It really helps me understand why Paul said lest any man should boast

Abraham did the works of faith and obeyed God, and iit was reckoned to hm as righteousness....

Genesis 26

  • 1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines to Gerar.
  • 26:2 And the LORD appeared to him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell you of:
  • 26:3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for to you, and to your seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father;
  • 26:4 And I will make your seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give to your seed all these countries; and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

  • 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

OMG! Figured out how to see who is on my ignore list in one place. Shocked to see the number at 35!

12 have already been banned. Guess I had good instincts there. Maybe another 13 hasn't posted in over a year.

That only leaves about 10 active ignores. I can live with that!
I am just wondering why so many likes for this post? Why has not anyone pointed this out to help a brother? Please read EX 20:7. Only sharing this out of respect and love only. Please be careful.

Examine our fruit or examine ourselves to see that Christ is in us?
Well I cannot see how we can receive the grace of God in vain, God is not weak in His efforts

If His grace has touched us we will be moved, that is what grace does.
I am blessed thank you and you too!!

You would be the one to notice that, do acronyms count too?

It reminds me of when Jesus and His disciples picked heads of grain on the Sabbath

Our whole family has genetically high cholesterol.

I just had to go off of Lipitor. I was on the lowest dosage and continued on for a month and couldn't take the weakness and pain anymore.

The latest is that they don't think that CoQ10 is helpful. Not sure about ubiquinol. What's that?
No drugs are good to be on for any amount of time. If one can get off them - that's better.

Ubiquinol is the actual form that our body uses. CoQ10 is converted to ubiquinal in our bodies but the process is not that complete and may not be converted in doses needed for a therapeutic effect - especially as we age. There is evidence that this form is utilized better by our bodies.

I agree 100% with your statement.

In fairness - I can see why people would say that there is easy believism because
some people have "mental assent" to Jesus and the word of God and thus they try to mimic the Christian life and then they walk away from the organized church because they can't do it.

No one can live the true Christian life - only the One living in and through us can live His life. Gal. 2:20 & Col. 3:3

So, I can understand people's point in this but there is a better way of saying it other then to condemn it by calling it "easy believism" or "grace only" as these are not sound words.
As I was contemplating the subject of God's grace my thought was - I could not live one second without God's grace in my life; so that when I hear people using harsh language and insults about people who believe in God's grace I soon hear, False gospel.

I agree with your statement; "some people have "mental assent" to Jesus and the word of God and thus they try to mimic the Christian life and then they walk away from the organized church because they can't do it.

What Is mental assent? "Mental assent is a subtle form of self-deception, just one step removed from hypocrisy."
Attribute From: Mental assent The Enemy of Faith by: Tim Greenwood: Mental Assent - The Enemy of Faith

Christians live every day by the grace of God. We receive forgiveness according to the riches of God’s grace, and grace drives our sanctification. Paul tells us, “the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives” (Titus 2:11). Spiritual growth doesn’t happen overnight; we “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 2:18). Grace transforms our desires, motivations, and behavior.

In fact, God’s grace grounds and empowers everything in the Christian life.

Grace is the basis for Our Christian identity:
By the grace of God I am what I am.” (1 Corinthians 1:10
Our standing before God: “this grace in which we stand.” (Romans 5
Our behavior: “We behaved in the world … by the grace of God.” (2 Corinthians 2:12)

Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians to examine yourselves to see if Christ is in you. Being in the faith is being in Christ and Christ is in us.

All saints are in Christ and "in the faith."

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

Jesus said that there would be tares in with the wheat and there are tares most likely in every assembly. Paul is telling them to examine themselves to see if Christ is in them.

As far as receiving the grace of God in vain.

Paul encouraged the Corinthians not to receive the grace of God in vain and in context in 2 Cor. 6:1 - he is talking about his ministry.

The word “vain” carries the idea of something that does not yield the desired outcome, something that is without effect or avail.

How do we make God’s grace towards us vain or void? Paul said in1 Corinthians 15:10,

“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Therefore, we have to cooperate with God’s grace. But not in a legalistic fashion where our trust is in our efforts or works. Paul said that made the grace of God in vain. “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain” (Galatians 2:21 )
