Can someone explain why it is going to move across from west to east?

There is some explanations around but I want to hear from anyone with insight.

What causes you to believe anyone here knows more than the ones writing about it? Wouldn't a site focused on such matters be more trustworthy than asking people who have no evidence they have any Real insight or knowledge? Especially in the Conspiracy forums.

picture it from the sun's position instead of from your position on earth.

so, if you were looking at the earth and moon from the sun's point of view, you'd see the earth rotating from left to right. to right is east - the side of the earth the sun shines on first as it rotates toward you - and to the left is west.
since the moon is orbiting the same direction the earth is spinning, you'd see the moon coming from the left ((west)) and moving to the right ((east)). the moon is orbiting much faster than the earth is spinning; looking at the earth from the sun, it only takes a matter of hours to cross the visible disc of the planet.

during the eclipse, the shadow of the moon will be right behind it ((from the sun's point of view)) and also moving from left to right, west to east.

here's a link to a video that models the eclipse path, and shows it from various angles, to help you visualize it:

when an eclipse path crosses near the poles, the moon's shadow can actually change directions - because at the poles, the earth's rotation is so much faster, fast enough to 'catch up' to the path of the moon's shadow, if the angles are right.

this is basically the same, geometrically, as why the planets display "retrograde motion" ((fancy way to say changing directions)). you can search for "retrograde motion" explanations, and if you understand them, you should also be able to understand how an eclipse path can change directions.

it's all abut viewing angle between things moving in orbits at different speeds, and in the case of an eclipse, the 'viewing angle' from the sun is probably the easiest way to wrap your head around what's going on.

Do you roam these forums looking for someone to release your frustration on? I'm free to enquire and like to hear from people who are not trumped up.

So why not retreat peacefully?

Thanks posthuman for taking the time.

eclipses are a strange phenomenon and this seemed even more so by direction.

It is strange to go through one and let's see if this one passes without issue.

This is the conspiracy forum so check out a book from the late 1800s called Baron Trump's marvellous underground journey and The Last President written by the same author, Ingersol Lockwood.

I was looking for an individual that may have insight.

It it is nice to see some are kind and considerate.

Yes.

It has to do with the vantage point of the observer and the motion of the moon as it passes the earth blocking out the sun.

My pea brain can't shake off a strange feeling about the eclipse... the sun and moon go in the same direction east to west though it varies throughout year... sun faster than the moon... I guess everything taught to date seems to go against the proposed logic..

I am someone that touches wet paint to see if it is wet.. speaks volumes hehe.

Anyhow , remembering the eclipse of 1999 in England... it is a strange feeling.. eery... and may you all be safe.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :p

So now you are saying that the moon orbits the earth in less than one day instead of taking about a month?

That has got to be the biggest bogus bunch of bull I have ever seen you write into a post.

"Now --- would you like to back that crap up and try again...?"

To be honest it was not that long ago I learnt the moon took so long to orbit.... I assumed it did the same sort of course as sun but obviously starting later hehe... the more I learn the less I know.. because things start to not fit.... and this eclipse defies logic.. yet many understand it based on proposed theories...

i should stick to touching wet paint hehe..

but.. try not to be so rude to others.. you can teach them without laughing so hard....

Well, I guess he figured since God set the moon in the atmosphere of earth to rule over the night that it had to get back before the end of the day to rule the night. :)

I like to see the grey unlit moon against the blue sky.. it appears as a large grey planet.. then at night when darkness befalls the moon glows and those marks have always looked to me like eyes and a mouth.. GOD is amazing and His Creations are amazing...

i dont believe anyone landed on the moon.. hehe.. sorry but had to throw that in.

My last post was really not intended with as much "harshness" as you are making it sound...

~

I actually understand the globe earth physics that describe how this eclipse could happen the way it is predicted -- "if, and only if, all of the angles are just right"...

And, it does seem to line up with the current data. ( Of course, it always will - it is designed that way. )

But, it is actually a requirement ( for it to work as predicted ) that the spin of the earth has to be moving faster than the moon's orbital speed.

If posthuman actually meant something different, then he should have said something different. What he actually stated means that the moon would go around the earth in less than 24 hours.

When you talk about "orbital speed", you are actually talking about angular change over time. ( Hence, from the word 'orbital'. ) If the moon were orbiting the earth faster than the earth was spinning, then that would mean that one 'orbit' of the moon would overtake one 'revolution' of the earth in less than 24 hours.

He was probably trying to compare how the moon would track across the "field of view" between the sun and the earth ( as would be seen from the earth - but, from the sun-side perspective ) to how the U.S.A. would track through that "field" in a spinning motion during that segment of time. Maybe. But, that is not what he actually said. ;)

So --- I am [ mostly ] just messin' with him... :D

Try not to worry about it. Hopefully, he won't either...
