I have a rule, if he wears a smaller shoe size than me, weighs the same or less than i do, or is more than two inches shorter than me. Its an automatic no. For me its important that the guy be bigger and taller than me. For everyone its different though. For some women it doesnt bother them some it does. If you like this guy who gives a flip about height.
lol I like that ! I agree with you tho if you really like someone who care's .. there has to be something that draws you to that person !

It's a big issue for me, like someone else said before my guy has to be taller and stronger :D I'm not even attracted to guys that are shorter than me. It's a bit of a problem in my country (Romania), I'm 5' 7" and that's pretty tall here :)
But to answer to the poster of the original question, I don't find it weird if I see couples where the girl is taller, it's just not for me.

Honestly, height doesn't matter to me. Then again, pretty much everyone I meet is shorter than me.

I've been in a situation like this. Normally, I when I think of someone I would want to date, I think of someone taller, stronger, just bigger than me. I think it helps girls feel more protected, which girls really like. Or atleast, I do. However, this past year I meant someone, and we came really close to dating. He didn't fit my normal "type" at all. He was a tiny bit shorter than me, it was only a inch or two. But he is also just a small guy. So I also weighed a lot more than him. I thought a lot about it at first, but once we started talking and hanging out more, I forgot all about it. Plus, it didn't seem to bother him. I liked him too much as a person to not date him for a reason like that. Of course, we didn't end up dating anyway, but it wasn't because of the size difference. But overall i think it can be a little weird at first, but if you really like someone, then soon it just won't matter anymore. I think society just has this idea that guys are always supposed to be bigger than their girlfriends....which that isn't always how it works out, but that's ok.

That's correct.

I do want to own my wife, just like the bible says.

And you're right, imagine arguing with your wife when she's taller than you. Imagine looking up at her and saying no, this is how we're going to do it. I'd be thinking please don't hit me.
Yes, its good to be the man isn't it! :D I can't wait to own a wife myself. Who wants to be my slave??? Anybody? Anybody? ........Bueller?.......Bueller?

(Yes, I know about Ephesians 5...and no, I dont have an answer for it except it says husbands should love their wives as they love themselves...but that is a weak defense. Anyone else feeling sorry for women here???)

be that as it may, simply making the statement is rather obnoxious.

These might make you feel better...

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7 NLT

Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
Colossians 3:19 NLT

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8 KJV

better? :)

I have the exact opposite problem... pretty much everyone I meet is taller than me and boy, do they ever let me know it!!

Being 5'2", for some reason, I've always been attracted to taller guys. A friend of mine recently said, "To you, TALL means about 5'7"."

OUCH!!

I've always like the 6-foot range, I don't know why... just makes me feel protected, I guess... not that I couldn't kick a little butt if I needed to. :D But height isn't so important to me... it's really the person that matters. I would, however, probably not go out with anyone shorter than myself.

I just wanted to put in a good word for Zeroturbulence--he's really a good guy and is just kidding about all the "owning your wife" comments... at least, I think. (Just kidding, Zero! We know you better than that!) If you have a look at his other posts in other threads, you'll know he's a good guy. :D

This was a really fun thread--thanks, Mands!! :)

LOL

I'm 5'3" and I like guys who are tall, too. I've always said a guy I dated would have to be at least 5'7"/5'8" so that if I wore 3" heels, he'd still be taller than me. I just don't like looking down at people when I talk to them, and if I married a guy shorter than me that would mean I'd have to look down at him for the rest of my life. That'd get annoying.

1 Corinthians 7:2-4.
According to the scripture they own each other...

But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.
1 Corinthians 7:2 NIV

The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:4 NIV

That's right.

Owning and being owned is not a problem.

Hehe you/we sure had Mands going there for awhile! lol :D
another thing. imagine losing to your wife in an arm wrestle.

or asking her to reach something from the top shelf.

or having smaller shoes than her.

or or or or so many things.

call me old fashioned but i guess i just couldn't imagine a husband being the head of the family with a taller wife. or a wife submitting to a smaller man.
