I do not even understand the question? I do not need to backslide one bit to keep my salvation. So I guess my answer to you would be: None.
My salvation rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross when He shed His blood for my sins, not on me backsliding or not
Well, backslide means to apostatize anyhow, so...

But I did read in the OT where God said He would heal Israel's apostasy; Hosea 14:4. :)

I guess I missed your previous post on it.

Do you remind posting it? Just give a warning that some might not like what they hear and may be hazardous to their doctrinal well being. :)

Thanks so much for being a caring brother and wanting to protect the flock of God.

Worthy is the Lamb

We are saved "unto good works" not by them. If you add God's grace, (unmerited favor), plus your good works, (name them like Paul), it is like adding a small amount of dirt to a glass of pure clean water; you will muddy up the whole glass of water which is; God's grace plus nothing.

God had to stoop way down from heaven and take our place on the cross to cure the sin problem for you and I, Praise Jesus Holy Name.

Philippians3:2-11
3)
For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh;
4) though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more:
5) circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;
6) as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.
7) But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
8) What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.
9) and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
10) I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11) and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Of course we should never think we should sin more to get more grace but it is sure comforting knowing that when we err we do not risk losing salvation.
When you sin because you have abandoned faith in Christ, that is when your sin comes into play as far as your salvation is concerned. But the sinning you do in your growing up into Christ will not cause you to lose your salvation. Why? Because your continued believing covers the sin you commit. But if you stop believing you no longer have Christ's intercessory ministry operating on your behalf in heaven anymore, and so you have nothing to take away that sin. You will be lost on the Day of Judgment, not saved.

Outright unbelief and a trampling of the blood of Christ that sanctified you is what will forfeit your salvation, not the growing pains of growing up into Christ. Those are covered by the blood of Christ because you still believe in the blood of Christ. The sin of the struggling, but believing, saint can not separate them from Christ. But the sin of the former believer will separate him from Christ, because he no longer has access by faith to the only sacrifice for sin there is.

how many people "count" how many times they sin on a day?
for all those who do,tally each one for this day and tell in what way you can lose salvation according to those sins,oh can't remember "All" the sins from this day, well then how can you give an accurate attesting that you can lose salvation considering you can't accurately bear witness to "every" sin of even this day,and anyways is not written"whosoever believeth upon Jesus is a new creature, old things are passed away, the old is gone the new is come",so tell me how can a "new" creature become an "old" creature,in about an hour I shall return to find an answer if there is no answer then I shall by process of elimination have to consider that Salvation "Cannot" be "Lost".
Thankfully, the sins committed by us struggling, weak, stupid, arrogant, and foolish believers growing up into Christ do not cause loss of salvation. Only an outright rejection and denial of the Christ that saved you can do that. And there's no coming back once you truly do that.

You only get one chance to be born again. If you lose it, you lose it forever. So, "12Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end..." (Hebrews 3:12-14 NASB).

Utter nonsense and more of your man-centric false gospel.

No truly converted person "stops believing" and you've been shown this many times from Scripture. You simply cannot trust that God does all the saving, you just don't believe the Gospel and true conversion.

What you are preaching is that man saves himself by the work of continuing to believe. You misunderstand so much Scripture to arrive at this it is remarkable to witness you perpetually preaching your false gospel of you, and works.

But if you stop believing
There you go again with the same nonsense. You're stuck on this "stop believing" stuff. So, you better keep on trying to make sure you keep on believing son, or you'll end up in hell and undo Scripture.

you no longer have Christ's intercessory ministry operating on your behalf in heaven anymore, and so you have nothing to take away that sin. You will be lost on the Day of Judgment, not saved.
More nonsense...

Outright unbelief and a trampling of the blood of Christ that sanctified you is what will forfeit your salvation, not the growing pains of growing up into Christ. Even more misunderstanding of the Gospel above.

Keep on trying friend, maybe you'll make it into heaven if you don't stop believing, if you fail to do this you won't be able to help Jesus get you into heaven.

One thing you don't understand is that people can be sanctified by the faith, set apart under its influence, taste of these things, follow the faith (the system of teachings) does not entail true conversion. That said all your above is false hypotheses and misapplication of Scripture.

Also, there are no orthodox church fathers who preached your nonsense. You've merely taken a verse or two about believing in vain and out of Colossians 1:23 and have run amok with false assumptions of the texts. Go quote some church fathers who believe your false gospel.

(If any are looking in, don't buy this dudes false gospel wares he's peddling. Trust in Christ and His finished work.)

The elder thought his good works were enough. He did not have a repentant heart.

The Greek word for knew in Matt 7:21- is ἔγνων (egnōn).

Here's the occurrences in Scripture of the exact word here:
Greek Concordance: ἔγνων (egnōn) -- 6 Occurrences

You'll notice that this word is actually for perceive, aware, etc.

Jesus actually uses this word when He's says He knew power had come out of Him.

Once again what I believe the key of Matt 7:21- is the focus...

Lord, Lord... didn't we DO [these things] in Your Name?

All these things are things that APPEAR to be righteous.

He replies, "Depart from Me you who practice iniquity... I never knew you."

Is our focus on our own works (and our DOINGs) or is it on Him and relationship?

Is He truly our Vine? Do we believe apart from Him we can do NO THING?
Cee,

The word knew is not found in Vs 7.21 it is found in Vs 23, right?

[SUP]21 [/SUP]“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ [SUP]

23 [/SUP]And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

The greek is ginōskō and is is used over 200x in scripture and it means:

  1. to learn to know, come to know, get a knowledge of perceive, feel
    1. to become known
  2. to know, understand, perceive, have knowledge of
    1. to understand
    2. to know
  3. Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman
  4. to become acquainted with, to know

The take away from Matt 7-21-23 is not that they did works, it is the fact he did not know them.....

Knew them here means to be understand and know someone to the point you are one with them....

In truth, Jesus will say depart from me because were not one with me and I was not one with you....

This is about relationship post salvation and nothing to do with salvation or refuting works to obtain salvation....and everything to do with intimate relationship...Matt 7.23 rightly divides with Rev 3.20, which has been used by the church for years as a salvation scripture, but it is furthest from the truth....it is all about relationship post salvation...

It seems to em you guys have a real hard time interpreting the difference between per-condition sinner and post-salvation saint on the walk to sonship...

Hi Meggido...We can back slide many times can`t we as long as we are trusting, leaning and relying on our Lord...As long as we believe and are growing, we will always have Salvation...But those who go back sliding because they like it, and have no godly sorrow for their sin, then have they not turned away:confused:...Only replying to see if i understand, not something i know for sure...xox...
Bless you Rose....This was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but revealed to you by the Holy Spirit...

read through 1 Corinthians 2 tonight and let me know what you thought...

The older son engaged in religion. He was with His father, but he didn't have joy.
The older son represents the Pharisees. They never left the father's house in an open rebellion and riotous living in a squandering of the inheritance.

The younger son engaged in rebellion. He left his father because he thought it would be more fun on his own.

The Prodigal Son represents the tax collectors and prostitutes. They are the ones who turned away and squandered the inheritance. And they are the ones who came back home at the preaching of John the Baptist.

"Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him." (Matthew 21:31-32 NASB)

Rosemary is a mere babe in Christ and nailed it...what is your excuse?

The question was pretty straight forward to a babe in Christ....maybe you should ponder it more...

The prodigal son backslid slid as far as one can backslide, yet he was still called the son, he never lost his sonship.

yu can not backslide your way out of losing your sonship, blessing? Yes, sonship. No.

The Brother that stayed faithful inherited all, the returning prodigal did not....

Backsliding is the first step...the second is apostasy...a non-believer can not fall away from something they never believed ...

The prodigal was reconciled to his father, but the elder
was not, being too entrenched in his sense of entitlement...

In the parable he wasn't, but I believe the elders were the Pharisees and some of them were restored.

You're right I said 7:21- to include the context.

The word know in v23 is not ginosko. Feel free to click the link I gave you.

It will show you the exact Greek word.

I have no problem deciphering the two. Yes we are saved pre and post conversion.

That's why there is even any desire to walk in discipleship.

I personally have never stated I do works to obtain or maintain salvation...
That's awesome to hear! That means you have accepted you're a new creation in Christ. And that's where discipleship begins by the Spirit in the Spirit. :)
