Back to the topic at hand.......Does Todd Bentley preach the gospel that is found in the Word of God? Or another which is a false gospel? Does he get up and call sinners to repentance and warn them of the lake of fire? Or does he preach prosperity to the unbelievers AS the gospel?

So how do you respond to the words " The Holy Spirit instructed me to kick her in the face"? I'm sorry I just cant get past this... This is wrong on so many levels. whats worse is awesome Christian people are attending these revivals, seeing this, & actually accepting it???? I'm so very confused.

The Holy Spirit instructed me to kick her in the face

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

"And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" John 16:8

"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost" Romans 14:17

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

I wonder how many other things these revival meetings tell people "The Holy Spirit told me to do such and such"........A voice telling me to punch someone in the stomach, kick her in the face, etc, is nothing more than demonic.....No Scripture shows the Holy Spirit acting in such a bizarre way.

I've only seen Todd Bentley preach twice (on television) and to be honest, I wasn't very impressed. Keep in mind that Bentley is / was considered an evangelist who often times tend to sleep in under the radar. I also agree that God has set up a structure of authority (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers) in order to maintain order in the body. I also agree that we are to keep a watchful eye on who and what we listen to.

However, let's be honest, there are some peiole who are just plain judgemental and are critical to anything that does not line up according to their beliefs. I personally belief that's why God chooses to use folks (even if for a season) that we, in our denominational pride, would never consider. To show us that we have become so set in our own ways that we do not give the Holy Spirit room to move in our lives and in our churches.

While I may not agree with what Bentley has done or his approuch, I am not willing to cast judgment on whether or not the miracles that occured were from God ot from satan simply because it is not my place to judge. Scripture clearly states that God will use the foolish to dumbfound the wise.

Aww cmon guys... you probably respond to it the same way Jesus was told by the Holy Spirit to spit in someone's eye or put mud in it... or the same way Smith Wigglesworth punched tumors out of people. You learn how to partner with the Holy Spirit despite how it offends the carnal mind.

:) Roaring kitten... sorry this isn't quite the topic. Have a look again at the first post.

If you want to know the Gospel he preaches then you can look at my other thread on the gospel.

Have a great day!

spitin in mud... punching/kicking people in face... k u r not seeing a difference here? Shakes head again at the incredible power of deception. Seriously... stop it. Seriously listen to yourself, condoning assult & calling it from the Holy Spirit are you kidding me right now. Sorry, having ALOT of trouble swallowing this garbage. LISTEN TO YOURSELF... QUESTION what you are taught. If it is contrary to who you know Jesus to be biblically you should see it as the LIE that it is. HONESTLY consider theses words... please and consider whatever you were told to make this ok. Do you not see it for what it is???

Some are willingly ignorant and believe a lie. Both Paul and Peter said that'd happen in the last days.

I must have missed something. Who punched someone in the face? I'm assuming that we're still talking about Todd Bentley?

While I'm not trying to defend Todd Bentley at all, let's be completely transparent here. If this was a Baptist preacher we were talking about, those who are now being very critical in this thread would instead be screaming "God forgives for all sin: past, present and future" or some other doctrinal excuse in Bentley's defense.

I have no problem calling a spade a spade however, denominational biases are clearly being expressed. Instead of focusing in on Todd Bentley, the finger is now being pointed directly at the Pentecostal faith. The fact that speaking in tongues was brought up during the course of this thread is evidence of that.

I don't see why you responded to my post to say that, since I wasn't the one who said anything about tongues. I would go after a Baptist more than I would any heretic like Bentley because Baptists know better and hold to higher standards. But I don't see why you replied to my post to say that.

Bentley kicked an old woman in the face saying the Holy Spirit told him to do it. BLASPHEMY!

sorry but I was saved in the Pentecostal Church. Just FYI. Being Pentecostal does not necessarily mean believing anything a man says in the name of the Holy Spirit. We still need to have discernment. So no, all in here are not anti-pentecostal.

It's pretty obvious that you and Roaring Kitten both share the same belief system.

Imoss, I wasn't referring to you at all. I apologize if I gave you that impression. I don't support Todd Bentley either however this thread has is slowly devolving into a battle of theology rather than staying focused on the subject matter at hand and how we can be alert and avoid occurances like this in the future.

We do, but I wasn't the one who said it. It was off topic and irrelevant to the discussion at hand. So don't jump on someone who didn't say it. If you have a problem with roaring take it out with him not me.

I agree but rather than trying tear one particular belief system down which is only going to cause division, let's be constructive by taking a long, hard and serious look at the man himself in the hopes preventing this sort of thing from happening again.

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17 (KJV)

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Tim 4:2-4 (KJV)
