Since posting about Judges, I have found myself trying to make sense of the life of Joshua.
Joshua first appears as a loyal adherent of Moses in the time following the exodus. He then led the Israelite into the promised land following the death of Moses.
The period from the exodus to the death of Moses lasted forty years.
Joshua 5 tells us that all of the men of military age who left Egypt died before the Israelites entered the promised land. Therefore, Joshua was perhaps no older than his mid-fifties when he led God's people across the Jordan.
Joshua and Judges both record that Joshua was 110 years old when he died, and so presumably he lived for at least fifty years after entering the promised land - maybe more like sixty years.
Have I made any mistakes? Leave a comment if I have. Thanks.
