Dear User Tech Support,

I understand age is mandatory in CC and is displayed in the User profile. I still find some User profiles without age displayed.
Was this requirement recently brought in?
If so then why this is not enabled for all user profiles in CC.

Well, I'm actually 16, but I like to keep that on the "down-low."

The minimum age to join CC is 13.

However, people can choose whether to show their age, or keep it private. Making it public means anyone who goes to your profile can see your actual birthday. Which on the internet is kinda dangerous, cuz then people have your birthday, as well as your actual name, if they know it..

Thanks blue_ladybug for minimum age to join CC.
The option to choose to show age is not available. The only option available is choose between display age or display age with birthday.
If the option to display age is available to some then this should be available to all or if it is mandatory to display age then this should be mandatory for all (all profiles).
I agree with you on display of birthday on internet. Most sites have display of only the day & month without year & thereby hide actual age. CC should make policies uniform across to all profiles on these matters.

Dear Willie-T
That's nice. We need to be young in our hearts & minds & keep this mindset never allowing the enthusiasm to die.

Both options ARE available to all. Some, like me, only show my current age. Anyone who knows how to count will know what my birth year is. They just won't know what day or month. :) Most of the profiles here show only people's ages, but I've also seen some with no age listed..

Can you show me where the options are available not to display age....
I'm not able to insert image to show how the menu appears to me as Display Age & Display Age with date of birth under Privacy.
Thank you
BMM

Click the Settings tab at the top of the page. In the list on the left, click "edit profile". You can set it to show only your age, or your full birthday with day, month and year.. I have no idea why or how some people are able to display no age at all.

Notice it is User2User Tech, not official tech support. This is just users offering help to other users, so official answers are usually rare.

I have seen the same age display discrepancy you're referring to but have heard no official response, I can think of, that explains it.

Ive noticed in the past, that ages are not displayed against new users. Then
once they have been posting a bit, their age appears.

Usually a newbie might post something a bit strange, everyone piles
into them, then several posts later it becomes clear they are only
14 or something like that.

I said before that the age of everyone should be displayed from
post one. The age of a person can change how we perceive and reply
to them.

Ive not taken much notice recently to see if this still happens.

The reason that some users do not have their age displayed is that when registering a nic there are three options

A) do not display age

B) display age only

C) display age and DOB

I am told that we cannot disable the "do not display" option in the registration portion of the site.

Once a nic is registered and approved the only options available to users if they choose to edit their profile are

A) display age only

B) display age and DOB

since we have the ability to set the parameters in that portion of the program.

It is not practical for us to manually change the setting on every new account that is created since we run anywhere from 50 to 150 new accounts per day.

Thank you for clearing that up, maybe at some point the option of
"do not display age" needs to be removed.

As unfortunately young teens may find themselves treated like
90 year olds and 90 years olds as 16 years olds etc.
