Does the Holy Spirit convict the born again believer of sin?

Good news, Jesus, forgiveness of sin and life, everlasting. That is the Gospel. He Himself is the good news. What He accomplished by His death is the good news.
Jesus taught under the law and was bringing the lost people of Israel back to it, to show how utterly impossible it was to gain rightousness through it, and they, if they accept Him as the Messiah, will then turn to His Grace and Mercy for the renewal of life because of His sacrifice.
It's really not that complicated.

Jesus taught mosaic law, he just showed the proper interpretation of it, minus all the laws the Pharisees were following which were outside mosaic law.

Before I was born again, God convicted me of my sins and sentenced be to death.

When I was saved, God forgave my sins and graciously gave me eternal life, and the Holy Spirit to guide me through the earthly journey of my eternal life.

Now that I am saved, the Holy Spirit doesn't convict me of my sin, He convinces me that what I am doing is a sin, and leads me to seek God's forgiveness for my sin. When I seek God's forgiveness, He is faithful and graciously restores my fellowship with Him.

A better discussion would be "How does the Holy Spirit work in you Life?"

we do need to discuss Christian growth, and what it entails, I sadly fear so many mix that with grace and make it as essential to salvation, they do not understand what it really is,

What if the believer alteady knows it is sin? What then? He can not convince him again? What des he have to instead show him?

I think we need the context,

in john 16:8 he is convicting the world they are sinners, (not individual sins)
in 2 Timothy 4:2 he is telling us to convince people of sound doctrine,

in this sense, yes they are not only the same greek word, they mean the same, they boy talk about convincing people of what the truth is, in the non believer, the fact they are sinners, in the believer, of what spiritual truths are, so they do not fall into unsound doctrine or non truths.

the word reprove or rebuke is a different word, it means to denounce what is not true,

Which again, leads me to what I and I think many are saying, the HS does not have to convict, or convince a believer of the truth about sin, they already know it.

Jesus asked us to forgive before we are asked 70 X 7, is he not willing to do this himself?

most people know it the moment they do it, they need chastened, but they do. It need reconvinced of what they already know is truth.

He or she was correct in her assessment, it goes both ways. He's done the same things and I'm not one to just sit here and make pretense about it. Some of his sidekicks have done the same.

Well I have yet to see it, and if he did do it the way he is attacked, who could blame him.

All i I have seen him do is try to correct false thinking about what he believes which many of us sadly have been doing since this so called hypergrace nonsense got started,
